From: Menlie

As Andrew walked to his house he walked on the side of the dirt road. It had been a road that he had taken many times in his life, from his youth to now his adulthood. Long ago he had made his journey everyday at 5:00 in the morning to where he now lived. At that time an old man had lived there whom he cared for very much. The two of them had become great friends, and
it was a horrible time when the old man had passed away. He had given the house to Andrew in his will; as he had no other relatives. Andrew grew older from his days as a worker in the horse barn and left his home when it was time to live in the home he had been given.
With each footstep he remembered all of the times he had made that journey up the road and to the mansion. Kicking up dust, chasing rabbits, finding cool rocks. Andrew slowed on his path and bent down in a crouching position to swipe his hand across the ground and pick up a handful of dirt and rocks. He held it up looking at the grains and slowly let it sift through his hands watching the dirt fall to the ground. After a few minutes of
remembrance, Andrew continued on his path up to his house.
Moving up the cracked concrete path, he knew he would have to someday fix he continued his thoughts of earlier that night. He looked up to the door way and inserted the key in the slot. As he turned the key he heard a rustling behind the one of the trees in the yard. He turned suddenly seeing a very dark figure.

"Who are you?!"

The shadow moved closer to Andrew, staying in the dark as Andrew reached for his sword. He couldn't find the sword as he patted his back in hopes of bringing it back. "Gad darn it, I forgot it in the barn," he thought. The shadow continued to move as his body touched the from the house he moved to get out of it. Andrew held up his fists for protection.

"Come and get me!"

Within milliseconds the man jumped out at him with a hood over his face and a large wooden stick. Andrew's eyes widened as he tried to move the side to let the stranger hit the wall of his house, but the man caught him in time and knocked his ankle from under him creating him to collapse to the ground. Andrew turned around holding his ankle with tears in his eyes ready to fall down his cheek. The man looked at him holding the stick high.

"Please! No!" Andrew cried.

Andrew bent down pleading with the strange man. Then suddenly he felt a cool breeze as he looked up and the man was gone. He reached around finding the stick the man had hit him with and used it to pull himself to his feet using the wall for support. Andrew shuddered at the thought of someone attacking him and moved to the door with his leg bent upward to not let his foot touch the ground, for his ankle was throbbing with pain.
The 23-year old reached for the key lock and continued turning the key and then opened the door. Andrew moved into the house, locking the door and resting himself on the nearest couch. He set down the stick as he sighed deeply having slight flashbacks of the attack. For 5 minutes ago, he had been struck with great force. The young man couldn't go to sleep as he was shaking deeply thinking of who could have done it and why. Suddenly Andrew
remembered something about the man. He had a gold button on his cloak. It had shined when he came into the light of the house. Now all he had to do was to get himself up and moving and find someone with the same cloak.
But why? Why would someone attack him? Because of his challenge? Could it be because he had challenged for the Moonberyl? Maybe they didn't want him to be able to fight for the Opal. Thank goodness he had to move the challenge to a later date. Thoughts continued to enter his head as he began to become tired and restless. He moved to the arm rest and pulled the blanket that draped over it, over him and snuggled against on of the pillows.

With a last smile he thought of a woman and fell asleep in his living room.
