Jordan walked along the dusty road from Andrew's ranch, kicking up dust that you could see from miles away due to the bareness of the land. He reached into his pocket to see what kind of special gifts lie in there that have not been seen for days. He pulled out a straw wrapper from when he had one of those strawberry sodas in Rhydin the other day, a couple of small coins, worth practically nothing and then some lint.
The boy tried to remember what else he could have put in his pocket in the past few weeks and his eyes widen.
Searching through every pocket he had, including his shoes he looked for that list that he had still not finished completing. Jordan sat on the ground holding his hands up to his face. "Oh man..." He knew it was a problem, but he couldn't do anything about it. He thought about all the things mentioned on the list and remembered the herbs. He also remembered that he had gone to Lady Sarana's house to get some, but he knew he needed more.
Standing up, he began to run, straight to the library for a book on herbs to see what else he needed.
He reached the cobblestone road and walked straight up on the walkway and into the library. The library was one of the few places in Rhydin he'd only been in once. He knew how to read, but he didn't like to. He looked at his surroundings finding that there were only four rows of books, probably about 15 feet long, it's shelves lined with books. The walls surrounding the three bookshelves in the middle where also completely full except for a
space about 13 feet wide with a door on each side and a space in the middle where you would check out your books. The door on the right side led into the office while the door on the left was the only way in and out of the library. There were two small windows above each of the 3 walls occupied by bookshelves that could only be locked by a pin through a hole.
Jordan went up to the counter and looked to the lady behind the counter, facing the other way at a desk and spoke softly. "Excuse me, ma'am."
Sue turned around to look at the teen standing about 5'9 and smiled up at him while she stepped up to the counter. "How may I help you?"
The boy was happy at how nice the librarian was and he asked her where he could find some books on herbs. Sue pointed him in the direction of one of the walls and told him they were on the second row up from the floor. At that point Jordan's eyes widened as he felt completely relaxed and had a sudden urge to sit in space without using any of his muscles to hold him up. As Sue turned, the boy fell to the ground so as she wouldn't see him and he
just laid there with his eyes halfway open. He soon got up, feeling like something was calling him, he looked through the window at the librarian sitting at her desk, but his eyes moved all around looking at all the drawers there. All of a sudden, Sue stood and went to a wall and pushed aside a painting. She turned a knob and opened a place in the wall revealing a safe.
Jordan knew there was something in that safe that had a great power, for he felt it running through him. He continued to stare at Sue as he moved to one side so she couldn't see him, but he could see her, and he watched her turn the black knob to open the safe. He grabbed a small piece of paper for use that was on the counter and one of those small pencils you can barely use and begin to write down the numbers.

31 - 18 - 22 - 6 - 28

He took both the pencil and paper and stuffed them into his pocket, looking around he made his way to the herb books, but that wasn't what he was thinking about. He started to search through them, but was paying more attention on how to get into the library another way. Looking up to the windows, he decided that was the best way and he moved to them, taking out a small stick and replacing the pin with the stick and quickly walked from the store.

"Good day, sir." The lady called out.

Jordan knew what he had to do and walked to his room at the inn to plan out what he was to do that night.

A night in his room, Jordan looked about, noticing there was only a dresser, a bed, a night-stand and a small desk in which a few papers were laid out with plans drawn on them. He sat on his bed, thinking and relaxing. There was something in that safe that was unbelievable and he had to know what it was. Thoughts flew through his mind of what was in that safe. Was it possibly a coin from years ago that no one knew
still existed? Or a book that was long forgotten, that is priceless? He really had no clue, but he would know sooner or later.
Stepping from his bed, he moved to the small desk, taking one last look over the papers on it and then shoving them into his sack and heading out the door of the room. He continued out of the Inn, moving slowly down the walkway, adjusting his sack to fit tightly around his waist and over his shoulder. He saw the library in the dark about 100 yards away. It was so late at night and there was no one on the streets. Jordan continued to look about
so that no one would see him.
He was there, standing outside the library, feeling a power coming into him from what was in that safe. Moving to the side of the building, he noticed there was no way to get to the window except to get on the room of the building next to it. Jordan squeezed himself in-between the small space between the two buildings and climbed up a small ladder to the room of the building next door. His eyes went immediately to the window and a shiver ran
through his body. It was time.
Jordan made his way to the side of the roof, about 2 feet from the window to the library and began kicking the metal rim of the window, finally busting it open to have the small twig he placed there earlier to crack in half and fall to the floor. He slid through the window which was just the perfect size for him and took a flying leap to the floor. He recognized where he was in the small library and moved to the office door. Turning the handle he
noticed the door was locked. He hadn't planned for this.
The teenager punched his fist into the glass, creating it to shatter into a million pieces. "Oh man.." He thought, then he slid his arm through the glass hole and unlocked the door, then opening it. He then quickly moved to the safe as he pulled out the small paper he had before and pushed aside the painting, turning a knob and pulling out, revealing the beige box. Putting his hand up to the black knob, he looked from the paper to the knob,
matching up the same numbers he had seen before. Click by click his heart raced faster as suddenly, it was done.
Jordan reached for the handle and pulled it down, the safe creaked and it opened wide. There in it was one small leather pouch and some papers. He first looked through the papers to see if there was anything important, then looked to the pouch. He picked it up and a shock flung through his body giving him an amazing amount of power. This was it. It was what had attracted him to the safe in the beginning.
He didn't even bother looking at it as he jumped up the bookshelf, knocking down a couple of books on the way, and dove through the window to the room on the other side. He practically fell down the ladder and slide between the buildings, he began to walk rather quickly back to the Inn. On the way, a couple of police ran by him and asked him if he'd seen anyone running by. Jordan shook his head and continued on with a slight smile.
He made it back to the Inn and moved quickly to his room where he set the leather pouch on the bed. His heart was going mad as he picked it up, watching a small ring with a blue stone in it fall to the white bed sheets.
