<As I've said before, the ability to whack 15 fellow upper-ranker's one more time than they whack you does not constitute worthiness of holding such an esteemed rank (and one with such power) as the Overlordship. It takes more...a lot more.>

Oh...So then, Wacking one more guy makes makes it any differant?

Never let evil consume you.

Nope, the Test, in my eyes, is a symbolic way for the Overlord to make formal protest over the ability of the Challenger to hold the Crown with honor and dignity. Beating one extra person doesn't, to me, make them any more worthy than before the Test, but there's not much, save Challenging, that you can do at that point.

Actually, Sidartha, the original reason for the Test of Worthiness was that if an Overlord thought his opponent was not sufficiently skilled to be worthy of his attention, the Test would weed him out. Cause the Baron or Warlord chosen would smack him, and the Overlord wouldn't have to waste his time.

Yes, Percival, I already know what it's original use was, and in some instances still is. I was simply stating it's use in my eyes.

>>I never said any thing about over using the Test, but using the Test to keep some one who Dal thinks is not worthy of the crown away from it, though he would gladly let a friend try and take it. <<

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that what the Test is supposed to be...to test the worthiness of the challenger to wear the crown?

This is an award winning number. Hell, I was not here during those times. If I might ask this, who changed the meaning of this "Testing"?

Evan~

I never said it was officially changed. I said it was the meaning I gave it to my mind. My mind....no one elses.

::chuckles::

Remember, though, that it's the quiet ones you always have to look out for.

What is this, some kind of duel to see who has the better explanation?

Evan~

Who are you to tell me what my opinion should be? I'm simply stating my opinion. Don't like it? Too bad.

Baron Evan.

And now you help form a House who is against the very idea of the Test... yet with these words, you -seem- to be indicating that the Test has a purpose... Which is it, truely?

Patrons of the Arena,

I am curious as to how this applies. No, that is not correct. I believe I know how this applies, for each of these things are factors into how people decide who is or is not worthy. However, this is such a meager part, that, as far as my way of measuring worth, is almost negligible. I prefer to explore the duelists themselves, to see what kind of person they are, and how they react to different situations. The worst swordsman or woman, in my
mind, could be the most worthy of a position of authority.

I cannot, however, discount that statistics are important in the Duel of Swords. The Overlord is defined to be the Supreme Dueler. That would mean the duelist with the most wins, best rank, best current streak, the list is too long, there are too many factors.

Dalamar has shown himself to be Supreme in every challenge he has fought, for he has won them all. This doesn't mean that he is always the best, for I'm certain that he loses now and then, even while others win thirty duels in a row. But when it comes to the rank and title, the Duel of Swords cannot change it's Ovelord on a daily basis.

The real question is what makes someone worthy. Are you judging that person's worth as a person? Or are you judging that person's worth of bladesmastery? As I see it, the Duel of Swords cannot afford, and could not ever make decisions based on a person's personality. The sport we know so well knows us only as numbers, percentages, statistics, and it's rules are written revolving around that. It is we as creatures with feelings, emotions,
stereotypes, and biases that cause the difficulties when it comes to "worthiness."

Think on this, I know I still am.

Sincerely,

-Rand al'Tan
