As promised to myself, this is what happens . . .
Having accomplished all that I can here, as proven by yet another failed attempt to gain a Barony, I believe it is time to leave by my own choice this time. I have long since passed the pinnacle of my dueling ability, and with that, I should now like to retire thereby not letting the pain of knowing my skill is diminishing continue further.

I really didn't know you all that well, but I count you as a friend. I wish you weren't leaving. With so many of the newcomers being either totally self absorbed or completely annoying, we need more people who understand sportsmanship and personal honour to remain. At the same time, I realize that you feel it necessary to do what you are doing. You will be missed.

Marit slipped into the arena during the early hours as she sometimes does, finding it the best time to read in peace. Calmly, she scans with her finger until she comes to Rix's note.

She retrieves her indian-style quill and pens a note.

I once remember an old duelist claiming his skill was lost, that he had surpassed the zenith of his greatness and was forever doomed to degenerate.

I my friend, remember back many years ago when you first came to Castle Questrion seeking admittance. You were young and eager to learn the ways of the dueler. I have watched now over the few years I have known you and saw that young man grow into much more than just a "dueler".
Your wisdom of the sport and the lands of RhyDin are gifts which many of the new duelers lack my friend. Your depth of character in dealings with the many political issues that develop within this realm is something that will never deteriorate. Skill, well Rix, I think you might be getting a tad bit old, like some other folks I know, but that does not mean you should pack it up.
Hell Rix, I have been here a bit longer than you, and though I have never worn a barons ring, it has not made me any less the man, or even the dueler. Take each loss in stride and learn from it, and perhaps one day you will wear that ring you covet so much. But, to walk away now, will only allow the history to be written the way you now see it.
