This night I had the honor to witness and officiate the challenge for the Thirteenth Baronial Ring, between Baron Magnus Eques and the Warlord Unagi Miyamoto.

I apologize for the simplicity of the remarks, I was not able to actually see the match. My assistant relayed the moves to me.

Round 1 Unagi thrust into the man while Magnus tried to cut low.

(This assistant could use some help with better language.)

Round 2 Unagi cut high, swinging over the head of the fancily ducking Baron.

Round 3 both low cut....I heard this one.

Round 4 Unagi's high cut caught Magnus in the middle of his fancy sidestep

Round 5 A reverse of the last, with Magnus halting the Warlord's try at a fancy sidestep

Round 6 Defensive...Unagi stop hit, Magnus fancily lat parried

Round 7 Unagi thrust but doesn't make it because Magnus fancily circ parried

Round 8 Unagi fancily circ parried, while Magnus cut high for the point

Round 9 Unagi's fancy stidestep trips him up on Magnus' low cut

Thus in 9 rounds at a score of 5 - 2 did Baron Magnus Eques retain the 13th Baronial Ring. Well dueled, gentlemen.

I wonder if this will put paid to the mutterings about Magnus' worthiness to hold a ring...

...Somehow I doubt it.

Well dueled, the both of you.

Of course it won't Drake. The people who are against will be against him. They will find all sorts of reasons why Unagi wasn't a good enough challenge. Which is rubbish.
The people who are for him will believe in him, right or wrong. I happen to think he does his best. That is all we can ask from most.

Let's not get so negative over this seemingly good-natured challenge.

I like to think myself pretty well informed, due to a profession of mine. I haven't heard such rumors among the patrons, unless of course, it wasn't rumor, but private comments that sparked the vibes from this post.

Regardless. In my book, Unagi was more than an acceptable, honorable challenger. Magnus carried himself with honor throughout the duel and has deserved his right to wear the 13th ring for a while longer.

I admit, I was cheering for Unagi the whole way. But Magnus did win, and whomever doesn't see that as a worthy enough reason to remain a Baron always has the option of challenging.

Good fortunes.
