Who's on trial here?

::Daring to stick his head out of doors for a moment he posts::

I haven't bothered reading the posts here. My *fan* mail is enough to read. Taking my word back..I knew all to well what repercussions would come. Let me ask all of you something...have any of you done something out of poor judgement? Have any of you let your feelings control your actions? Have you ever wished that you wouldn't have done what you did moments after you done said actions? Due to pride and an oversized ego I had issued a, as all of
you would call it, an honor duel between me and baron oakenshield. Yes, even though I threw the duel I still lost, and am being expected to keep it. Nobody seems to understand why I went back on my word, but I really don't expect any of you to do so either.
It's almost funny really. Most of the population here preaches about honow and virtue and all that jazz. What's funny is that a very small number of any of you actually practice what you preach. *Then* when somebody else chooses to change thier mind and not follow what they say...the entire world tears that person apart. Guess I'll just have to live with that. I am going to do what I think needs to be done, and I don't expect a single person to
understand or side with me.
I will say this. The way I am going about this *is* wrong. It's too late to change anything. Even withdrawing my challenge now...would not make things right. Things will come around. I have my plans...if I am able to carry them out, most of you will thank me. If I am unable...oh well, you can all go on about your happy lives while i just slink into the shadows.
With those brief thoughts aside, it's time to look at the other problem. Who's on trial here? Me or Dalamar? This is where we are...Dal didn't show to his challenge. For what ever reasons he has..I can not sympathize with him. He is obligated to defend his title. As are all of us who have held or currently hold a title. The lose of one's father is a great one, but it is beyond our control. Life will move along, and there will be time to morn. In
the meantime, I feel that holding the title of overlord or baron means putting ones personal life on hold. Therefore, I was in the appointed place at the appointed time on the appointed day, set by Dalamar himself. The night of the match I had not even recieved any notification UNTILL 5 minutes *after* the match was to begin. Common curtesy would have deemd that notification be sent as soon as Dalamar had heard of his fathers passing. Which therefore
would have been understandable and none of this mess would have happened.
Unfortunately, Dalamar believes himself above the law and can do things how he sees fit. Not true...which is why I am doing things the way I am. Which I say again, is not the right way to do it, but it is the way it's being done.
I also want all of you to stop and consider a thing or two. Those of you who know me well...do you think this matter doesn't bother me? Do you think that this disgrrace I have brought myself doesn't bother me? Do you think possibily loosing all my friends doesn't bother me? Everything I have worked for...I am loosing, including my self respect. Why? All for what I believe in. I have always stood by myself it seems, and the outlook for the future
seems bleek at best. Life has not been the same since my wife had left me. Ever hear the saying, "Never judge a person untill you walk a mile in thier shoes"? Well, take a walk in my shoes, and if any of you still feel the same way, then by all means continue to judge me the way that you are. With that, good day to all of you...

It is always too late to change what one has done. However, it is never too late to change what one has become. It is never too late for apologies. It is never too late to return.

::a note appears on the board, appearing to be torn from a script of sorts::

'Tis sweet and commendable in your nature
To give these mourning duties to your father, But you must know that your father lost a father,
That father lost, lost his.

::another torn section is added so that the first and last lines overlap::

To persevere
In obstinate mourning is a course
Of impious stubborness. 'Tis unmanly grief.

::shakes his head somewhat. thinking this has become less a ruling issue than a personal flame fest.::

Huma,

OId friend, I am afraid little you can do will change or realign any of this back to its truer nature. Things have a way of breathing their own life into situations here. And as we both know.....far to many seek someone to hate. Caring little for how their words and actions destroy the sport we once loved.
I my friend, do not support you, not out of disagreeing with you, but out of the belief that support is not needed. Any man that can live with what he decides to do is more than strong enough in my eyes.

Patrons,

Do everyone a favor and quit using these posts for your own little personal agendas. The flame wars and *I'm better than you* postings grow ever more adolescent and irritating. Huma had something to say, and Gnort clarified it, the rest seek to barb and nettle each other...and its rather sickening. You that call yourselves, honorable, wise, intelligent adults acts as nothing more than children here. And it sets no example for those just
joining this realm.
You speak of honor, nobility, respect and loyalty. Then I ask you to espouse your own words and rise above this petty *got you last* game that has gone on through now 8 different sets of posts.
Dalamar and Huma's situation will be decided by the Council, not in public forum. The arguments and the bickering are tiring. So much that I am sure even Elijah would have avoided these missives like the black plague.
Again, honor yourselves, and our sport, by rising above the petty human need to get in the last word. We are all well aware of the people that do not like each other within this realm.....FAR TO AWARE.
This is not an insult, its a request. If you see it any other way, you are well near to blind I would assume.

::searching through the missive attached to the ancient cork he blinks once reading Adonai's response and smiles::

Damn, twice now I agree with the man...I wonder if this is habbit forming.

::tacks up a quick note::

DoS Community,

I can say nothing else except that I echo Adonai's words. As I have stated before, Let the facts be decided on and take your personal grudges privately. The sport can not afford anymore mudslinging and flame fests.
