To all of the DoS community,
Reading over the mail concerning Dalamar's punishment for not showing up to the match, I find it quite lenient. All he has to do for not showing to a match is pay a fee, note this event in the histories, sponsor a RDI tournament, and sponsor some entertainment for the community.
I find it too lenient for not showing up for a match. Would I be treated the same if I didn't show for a match? Would anyone? Most likely not. In these reasons, I have come up with a type of idea I see would be a good one. Kalamere had suggested that Dalamar duel someone, if he wins he retains the crown, if he loses then it goes to a Baron's tournament. Then Var suggested that if Dal loses, Huma duels him for the crown. No one voted for this
option.
As I see it though, Dal should duel someone:winning, retaining his crown, losing dueling Huma. I bring this up because the main reason the council brings forth for not retiring the crown is that Dalamar has defended it so many times, it would be a shame to lose it this way. If he has defended it so many times, why not let him defend it just once more, to see if he should keep it?

Not to tell anyone thier business, but, I have a valid challenge, and in actuality, the only choices herein are...
1. Remove Dal and appoint someone to defend the crown. Should I loose, a tourmament of barons would be held for the crown.
2. Reschedule the match.
3. Award myself the crown by forfiet.
These are by law the only choices that should be considered. I have committed a moral wrong yes, but by law, I have done nothing wrong, so, why should I be punished? For his reasons, Dal was unable to attend. Lets not forget that.

Huma,
I agree with you completely that those are the only legal options, but my colleagues have disagreed with us and voted for what we consider the not-so-legal option.
I can only hope that at the end of the discussion Helix will more thoroughly consider this argument (that I have repeated at least twice before the council, and have heard many times on these boards).
It is very unfortunate that one cannot convince a person or body of people to think logically.

The "only" choices? A suggestion, Huma. Read the rules again. I will quote them here for your leisure and benefit.
Under DoS Rules, Part 2, Challenge Rules, heading "Baron's Council" (takes some scrolling to get to, so I understand overlooking it), Item 5 (bold emphasis and enlargement mine):
"Choices will include, but not be limited to;
(a) Granting the challenger the victory by default
(b) Appointing another to fight against the challenger in place of
the person challenged
(c) Voiding the challenge and returning the challenger's peer wins"
Where did you get the notion that there were only three choices to pick from?

He would also respond that the options given to the council were well thought out and well presented. And he would also say that anyone accusing the Barons of Bias need only look to themselves and judge whether or not they are biased in some way, themselves.
