TO: THE OLD THE NEW THE BARONS THE OVERLORD THE RDI'S AND PE

Evan walks up to the boards, enraged and pissed. Looking the boards over hard and long, he starts tearing down every post that started a verbal fight, excluding a few well done cases on the Overlord/Huma challenge and "good posts" such as wedding dates and challenge dates, etc. After ripping down half the posts on the DoS boards, he sets daggers in the four corners of the large paper which he has already pressed to the boards, making sure it
won't be coming down soon. Then, he *quickly* pens up a little something.

DoS:

"One after another. Following a line of events ... the respected (most) old (old being loosely defined) duelers of this sport leave to go on to other things."

What does that leave for the younger duelers? So what if we aren't 30-60 in human years. This is *YOUR* sport too. You know, all those records that the past duelers have set don't mean jack if there is no one out there to care about them? If DoS goes to hell in a hand basket, do you not care? That is like cutting off your limbs and saying you don't need them. But, I am not going to say
anymore on the issue of duelers leaving this sport because it has gone to hell, they can't handle it, or these aren't the golden years. I will tell you this. We are the only ones who will keep your memories. Remember that well ...

The wee little kender returns to town. She stops by the board where lots of papers and other things are tacked up. Her eyes twinkle brightly as she spots four knives holding a piece of paper up. After a quick glance around, noting that no one is watching, Kira's little hands tug the daggers out of the board. Placing each into her pocket as she reaches for the next. As the last dagger is
tugged free, the paper falls to the ground, totally unnoticed by Kira. Giggling madly, she makes her way into the dueling house.

As the seraph passes the boards, she notices a large paper on the floor, a very bold signature upon the bottom.

Seeing the obvious marks where it was once tacked to the ancient board, the angel places it back in place with a single feather, but much higher up, near the very top of the board.

Glancing at the words, she blinks.

"My, Evan has a bold pen.", grining as she vanishes in a soft aura of celestial light, hoping a breeze doesn't blow the note off.

Percy-

I beg to differ about Monsieur Goldensword. I do believe he lurks in the shadows and will soon make an entrance. But that's just me and my silly assumptions. Buddah knows I miss him.

I always liked Anthonny....Nova Grey Shadow (poor guy)....I'm not sure if Aja is around, because I saw her not that long ago, but she's waaaay up there on my list of people who deserve respect let's see.... i haven't seen Baphe in a while, if my memory serves me right, he up and left... I guess I need to pay more attention, then I'd be able to think of more.

::Looks up:: Morte, ya help me wi' this note, I want it ta be clear if ya nae mind?

::Morte wanders over and carefully corrects her usual bad grammer::

Evan,

This be a simple note. We are a Community. So what is a Community? It be a group of people who find acceptance with each other. We have all felt left out, as if a group was gathered with their backs turned ta us. But here in ta DoS, we strive ta include each other for we are all branded with the same passion: A love for dueling.

Your list brought back memories, a few smiles, a few tears - alot of laughter. Mayhaps some be angry when they left ta DoS, but I know that most went on ta other matters, other things that brought them more joy. It will be ta way of things for always Evan. It be ta way of the world.

So Evan, methinks ta solution is ta nae mourn those that have passed before us, but ta celebrate them. And in their memory mayhaps we all should open our hearts ta someone we would nae usually even acknowledge. Say hello, offer someone ya nae usually talk ta a chance ta sit and chew ta fat. I think ya find some suprises when ya do. I do.

Furthermore, we should take a bit of time ta enjoy each other. Our differences make us strong, make us think, challenge our strategies.

There be much I miss about ta "old days", (a few young ones declare that I fit ta bill - though I remember clearly when me and ta G and ta Prin and our crowd be considered ta babies) but as much as I miss them, I find much ta celebrate in ta DoS community taday. Ya be one of ta things ta celebrate Evan.

Thank ya Evan an' everra one for reminding us all of ta wonderful people who hae sweated and bled in these rings.

Summer

And some have come back from time ta time. Many missed ta old fire. They found it changed, as ta DoS Community be alive and constantly brewing with new people, new ideas.

That is quite enough.

You (the generalized sense) all think everyone is leaving because the Duel of Swords is moving in a downward spiral. You all think that because of this, we are only going to continue falling.

Bull--::the remainder of the word, having been penned by an angry hnd, is difficult to read::

Suck it up, dammit. People leave for their own reasons, not necissarily the ones you think they are. I know from experience. Get your heads out of the past.

There are no "good old days". There was no "golden age". The moment you are living in now is what you make of it. If you want to make it a time where you whine and cry about people that have left, go ahead. Myself, I am going to keep doing what I've done for more than a few years. I am going to duel.

I remember most, if not all of the faces associated with the names. Hell, I know more. But I'll be damned if I start getting nostalic and wishing they all came back. They are gone. I am going to live wih that fact.

My point? I don't really know. Honor the past, sure. But don't forget to create a history of your own. Make your own name so down the line, when more weepy and nostalgic people think about the "good ol' days" and liken it to now and start writing names down, you'll be there.

I'll be there. I'll also be rolling my eyes at them as I am at everyone now.

-Rix

Well said Rix

It's about time someone stood up and said something. All we hear about is the past. Like Rix said, honor the past....don't live in it.

How can there be a future if everyone is always thinking of the past..Now is *our* time. The ones that left, the ones from the past, their time is over. Respect and honor them, but guys, don't beat a dead horse.
