Final Thoughts

At the third rather inpatient sounding whistle, Helix finally appears at the door, hair pinned up, and wearing civilian clothes for her vacation. She looks at Brian, who sits proud on his horse, holding the reins to Helix's packed mare.

"I've been sittin' here for a half hour."

Tired, she leans against the corkboard and blows the hair out of eyes before faintly narrowing them on her husband. "I've accumlated a lot of stuff in the last couple of years ye know. I can't hardly be expected to cram it in a bloody shoe box, can I?" The expected reply of a snort from her mate was oddly comforting. Before heading back to GateWay for a long rest, Helix perused the last of the notes on the corkboard, figuring she'd put up her
last two cents before heading out.

There wasn't time to respond to each separately, so she simply tacked up her final thoughts.

~Jona, the law to which I referred would be another section of the same law that inhibited us from continuin' to use civilian QKeeps not horribly long ago. I trust ye remember it. As for how the hiatus will be handled, that will be dictated by the new Supervisor, and isn't somethin' I feel I should comment on.

~Gnimish... naggy and fussy?? I don't think I e'er told ye I ran across a gypsy band not so long ago. Ye know what they saw in yer future? Jello. Isn't that odd?

~Khrys, Summer... to some ye'll always be considered the "babies". Tis just somethin' yer goin' to have to live with. :D

~Drake... thank ye for rememberin' my husband fondly, and that goes double for me.

~Loopy... thank ye for rememberin' my *ex*husband fondly. ::chuckles as she continues writing:: He brought me here and introduced me to yerself and Morgancrow on my second day in the realm, and for that I'll always be grateful to 'im. Ye've touched me deeply with yer sweet words.

~Devon... had I *known* ye were watchin' I might have tried somethin' with a wee bit more panache to lure ye back into full view. Yer note made me weepy and is, in all honesty, somethin' I'll treasure.

Lastly,

Rix.

I read yer.... can I use the word "tirade" without gettin' in trouble? :D I disagree that "there are no good old days". The problem with that term is that *some* people think *everyone* should acknowledge their own personal definition when in fact, it's relative. I have a general period of time that I consider to be the good old days and every so often I'll sit back and reflect. Inwardly, I think people are just honorin' a memory and it's hard
to fault them for that. Outwardly, if they're blatherin' on to a group of people not present in that era, I agree it can make one a little green around the gills. I though yer comment about now bein' what ye make of it was well done. On the whole, I don't think most thin's change for the better or worse, they just change. Different isn't necessarily good or bad, it's different. I agree that one's time is probably better spent makin' tomorrow a
good memory for next year.

And as a matter of fact, it's time for me to do just that.

~Helix

As she tacked the paper to the board she felt Brian's green eyes on her and smiled. "Inpatient Scots...."

Brian watched her as she came forward. "Wha'?"

"Nothin', hon."

He reached down to grasp her wrist and pulled her up behind him. "Ye ready lass?"

"Aye..."

He brought the beast's head around and set off, trotting south, leaving Helix to rest against his back and quietly reminisce as he took her home.
