Be forewarned this is the last post I will answer from you, as I feel I have explained myself to the best of my ability to the public, after this letter has been placed upon the corkboards. I will answer each of your questions one at a time, so bear with the length, please. Your statements and questions have been written more boldly for clarity.
First, I wish to respond to a statement. "The announcement of the standings wast placed before the public upon the eighth day of the tenth moon."
I find this odd, Jona, as the standings were posted on the sixth day, and there was no mention of my challenge in them. The next standings listing was the fourteenth of the tenth moon.
"When didst prepare thine challenge, Madame?"
The letter was written Monday morning, after a discussion between the former Baron and myself, to be sent when the new standings had come out.
"Where wast it placed that thine servant didst come upon it?"
It was placed in my office, on my desk.. a room where Joel has free access, as the gentleman who basically handles all of my affairs and less urgent business matters. It is not unusual for him to send out mail for me, especially that with multiple recipients, such as letters to House members, when needed.
"Wherefore didst thine servant deign to issue challenge in thine name, in thine hand and with thine signature without thine leave?"
As I stated above, Jona, it was not unusual for him to do so as I cannot do everything. He didn't know the subject matter was of the importance it was, and as I disappeared abruptly that Monday afternoon, I was not around for him to ask.

I arrived home, to be greeted by Joel. Joel then informed me that challenge had been issued, invalidated, and reviewed, and the Baron had said the duel would either take place that day or the following weekend. At that point I went to the Arena to find Evan there, who said it would be the next week. At that time I began to realize something wasn't quite right. However, at that point ( and I quite freely admit to this being my mistake ), Evan said
"Find a caller, let's do this now," to which I said okay and sent a mindcall to the only official I could sense near, which was Jola. Upon asking if she would officiate, I then looked back to Evan and confirmed she would be needed. He agreed and proceeded to Twilight Island, where he met Jola and I and the duel commenced.
"Madame Ashleana, thee resort to issuing me a challenge? How droll. I didst issue thee challenge ast a commoner the day thou didst attain thine ring and thou didst refuse."
Yes, I did refuse your request for a duel, Jona. However, perhaps you didn't notice it, so I will remind you of something. I did not accept a challenge from any dueler that night, as I wished not to duel any more that night. The refusal was not based on who you are, your rank, or anything else. I did not duel at all that night, after attaining the ring.
As for issuing you a challenge... I did not challenge you. I asked you, if you had further grievance with me, to take it off the boards and into the rings.

It has been Goldendust Evermeadow's long standing practice to put the date of issuance to the public on his standings records. In simple terms, madame, I suggest you read the dates of the standings listings. They were made public on the sixth, fourteenth, and twenty second days of the month of the tenth moon.
I believe an apology is in order to Lord Evermeadow for the slight to his record keeping, however, I'm not fond of having purple cheeks.

The date placed on the standings as to the last date dueled is reflected by the week before... so if a dueler were to duel the week before the standings for the sixth were posted ( The week of Sept 29 - October 4 ) then it would be shown the last date dueled was the day standings were posted, which would be the 6th... just for informational purposes. It does not mean the dueler actually *dueled* on that
date.

As you will note if you look upon the standings dates, there are many that have the date 10/06/98 upon them this is to note the last standings date that their duels appear in. If you read the standings Madame Starfare, it specifically states "Standings for the weekend ending 10/04/98." So, I ask you... if those standings closed on 10/04/98 how could a duel having taken place on the 6th be recorded in them?
