I appreciate your attempt to answer my question, but it doesnt help much. Others have spoken of being thankful for things, yet no one has explained to me why there is just one day to be thankful. I think there are reasons to be thankful everyday, and are we all so thoughtless that we need one specific day to remind up to be thankful?
And while were at it.... What is a turkey?

They feasted on a foul beast called a turkey, along with many foods and drinks, some we even see in RhyDin, such as ale, or rum.
Perhaps another place and time, but surely a message that rings thru out the multiverse.

Love of my life (and you other bozos too, I guess), Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated on a world called Earth in a land called the United States of America (corny name, no?). It has become so mythologized that most people, even citzens of the aforenamed land, don't even understand why it is a holiday and why it is celebrated. There is a great deal of this mythology surrounding the first settler of this country.
However, said mythology has nothing to do with WHY Thanksgiving Day is celebrated, and little to do with its inception. You see, from 1861-1865 this nation was engaged in a bloody internecine conflict called the American Civil War. This was a brutal, bloody, violent war that nearly destroyed the nation.
When the war ended, the leader of the winning faction, one President Abraham Lincoln, proclaimed a holiday. This was not to celebrate victory, as many leaders have done in the best. Instead, this holiday was to give humble thanks for peace. It was also to be a date of remembrance, that such bloody struggle might never intrude upon the land he loved again.
Well, all I can say is, damn good idea, damn poor execution. The date was changed several times by the presidents and congresses that followed, finally affixing itself in late November. What had been intended as a humble day of prayer and gratitude became a day of football games, selfish feasting, and very little giving of thanks.
Nonetheless, it could have been far worse. Take a look at what the Americans did to Christmas if you don't believe me.
