The way I see it, I think that nearly no one has mentioned any of the real influential people, just the people we happen to see a lot. Personally, a great deal of the people mentioned are, to me, too alike to warrant influence, although some people have thought at least a bit similarly to me.
I have two that head my list, for nearly completely different reasons:
Jonalyn - the Queen of titles and spouting judgement. I am not going to complain about her, since I believe she brings up many valid points about issues that no one considers. She often helps keep people in line, and has a wonderful knowledge of the rings' history.
Dalamar - no one can be the Overlord for 18 months and not have an major effect on the arena. Dalamar has made us (the people that were here at least a few OLs before Dalamar, at least) reconsider the position of the crown as no longer being a one or two month position, and realize that there is the possibility of one dueler really having the claim for the throne for a long, long time. That is mainly the reason behind me not challenging him. His
actions concerning all the titles have made us rethink the standards in the rings, and have led to many lively, although heated, discussions.
The following would represent to me a second tier of influence...
Morgan le Fay du Corwall - influential to me in the same sense as Jona is: she lays down very well-thought out opinions on the matter at hand, and usually leaves people drooling to come up with arguments against her.
Ecore/Elijah - Is he really coming back? Should we be afraid? Thankful? Indifferent? The man with the 2nd highest WoL in his career (correct me if I'm wrong here), even though he is now starting from scratch, is certainly a force to be reckoned with.
Jeff Oakenshield - the Baron that nearly always will be. The cornerstone for Dal's Loyalist faction. A hard-nose fighter that is next the Dalamar is terms of skill in the challenge ring. Although his wit may fail him sometimes, his blade backs him up well.
Seamus - I think he started the mini-Loyalist revolt against Dalamar, and along with the challenge, broke with the old pattern of nearly everyone being Loyal to Dal, even with good reason not to be. Barons (hopefully) now realize (if they didn't before) that becoming Loyal is not the only option.
I could go on to mention other people, but most of the others just seem too alike to me. I would mention myself, save the fact that I want this to try to actually look a tiny bit unbiased, despite the politics that have crept into my descriptions.

The people whom I find are both interesting and influential. But however, they are interesting and influential to myself. I wouldn't care to stick to the warlords or better, there are far more people than that.
Lupton ~ I like him, but I don't know about the rest of you. Lupton I have learned only in passing, yet because of this curiosity in the history I possess, Lupton couldn't be a better way to show what the History was like. He has been around for a very long time, though now retired. Those who want to know what the Dueling Arena was like in the past could turn to him, and learn easily.
Morgan Redheart - A wonderful teacher to me, and a person who has strong faith in what he believes. He goes for honor and tradition, and so far, is one of the few people that doesn't name any of their weapons! No offence to those who do, but it shows that a man can be versitle with almost anything as a generalist, which is the best quality for leadership. Two words are often spoken as one enters a ring. Honor and Skill, but it was Morgan
who told me that Luck and the pure joy and fun of dueling is the other side of the coin.
G'nort - The name says it all. G'nort has quickly become a good friend to me, and sets examples on what a dueler should be like, skilled, friendly, funny when needed, and yet, serious when he has to be. Lets not forget the time he... or... she at the time, looked good in a dress!
Stormi and Drakewyn. - I put these two together because they influenced me into NOT giving up. Which makes me very grateful as to following their advice. I've done alot of things (and alot of duels) to improve myself. So far, it has been very, very sucessful, and I am grateful for that. Others who read this should take this as a message as not to give up for your goals, hopes, dreams, honor and traditions.

C'mon, Drake, you remember more than that. It was only a very brief time that he was big, black thing.

Dae and others:
1) Okay, we all know, despite attempts otherwise, that this is neither a popularity contest nor a "who is MY best friend survey." We're looking here for influential people. So, despite my personal feelings about his charecter and personality, Jesse gets my first vote. There's not a person in the DoS community that can not say they have not been influenced at least some bit by this smirking, arrogance-driven hot-head.
2) Jona. Again, no one has touched more lives through her words then Jona has. Whether you like her or hate her, everyone has a definite opinion of the lass. Apart from that, I agree mostly with the arguments of the others that have posted in this thread.
3) And this is the tough one...Presently there is no one else that comes within the range of influence that the other two have had on the community as a whole, but if you go back about two months or so, You'll find that Perci, while still a part of HR, was the center of attention for most of the community. His actions and words were studied and watched most carefully, as the spokesman for, at the time, a very controversial House and the center
player in a controversial challenge. Even still, his words on this corkboard are respected and heeded by most, though he does not spout off rhetoric in the sheer volume as before.
So, those are my picks.

A controversial challenge? My only challenge so far has been a quiet, friendly challenge to someone who had badly wanted another challenger. Any controversy at the time was not regarding the challenge but the house, and was largely the result of paranoia and ignorance.
As for me being on of the most influential people here, I would have to disagree. There are three, and here they are.
1.) I have to agree that Jonalyn is one of the most influential people here. I wish she used that influence positively instead of negatively, but that is her choice.
2.) Dalamar, by his actions and policies more than his words, does a great deal to influence the society and politics of the Duel of Swords. Many take their mark from him.
3.) Jeff, largely because his actions seem to influence people to take sides. He polarizes an issue and people choose to either agree with him or oppose him.

It merely is to say that someone chooses to wield their influence at the expense of individuals rather than for the good of the community as a whole. A controversial challenge? My only challenge so far has been a quiet, friendly challenge to someone who had badly wanted another challenger. Any controversy at the time was not regarding the challenge but the house, and was largely the result of paranoia and ignorance.
