Results of the Challenge for the 5th

Lords and Ladies of RhyDin

On this eve, the 29th of November, I did have the Honor and Privilege to witness the challenge for the Fifth Baronial Ring.
The Baroness Morgan le Fay du Cornwall met with the Warlord Cletus Ganderfald on the field of Honor in the Baron's first defense of her ring.
The Baroness dueled under the colors of Silver on Black, which are the colors of the Country of Cornwall and bore the Standard of the Pendragon, King Arthur -- a red dragon upon a black flag. Her Second was the Loyal Baron Jeffrey Oakenshield. She dueled with her Rapier, BaenSidhe, for the Honor of Mojo Goblin, and for Avalon
The Warlord dueled under the Flag of Polaris, his home country. It is a black flag with the red star *Polaris* in the center. He was Seconded by The Renegade Baron Var Medici-Giovanni. At his left side stood his faithful Siberian Huskey, Terra.
He wore his departed mother's medallion.
Inscribed on it are the words: Dum spiro, speron.
He dueled with his fathers sword, Hralfgar, which is always at his side,
for the Honor of The Lady Arane Nausikaa.
This evening proved to be most challenging and entertaining, as the Overlord did interceed on behalf of the Loyal Baroness. On behalf of the Warlord we had two step forward to intecede, his Second -- Renegade Baron Var Medici-Giovanni, and Renegade Baron Seamus MacDonnaugh. After a flip of the coin by the Warlord, Baron Medici-Giovanni did intercede on his behalf.

Thus did The Warlord Cletus Ganderfald defeat The Baroness and therefore earn the right and priviledge to bear the Fifth Baronial Ring. The new Baron did declare himself Renegade.

Congratulations Baron Ganderfald on a grand victory.

I have to agree with the Lady Morgan here. My feelings about the Intercession are well known. However, there is no reason to insult the Overlord because one of his Barons chooses to seek the Intercession and he choose to grant it. She was within her right and he was within his. If you need to make comments, talk to them first and find out why it happened.

And I suppose the warlord REALLY wanted him to interfere... I am opposed to interfering, not your little "I am a Loyalist, fight for me, Dalamar" "rights."

I wasn't arguing because I thought it disrupted HER, I argued because it disrupted the Warlord's challenge. I am almost NEVER on the side of the defender, and since when is "I'm glad he got his butt whipped" an insult?

I'd really think it better if the only match in a CHALLENGE was between the CHALLENGER and the CHALLENGED, instead of:

"Oh, I'll just let the Overlord fight, since I can't defend my title."
"Oh, yeah, I'll fight for you."
"Yeah, right. I want to see this challenge match. I'll help. OW!"
"Oh, man, I came to fight the baron, not the Overlord."
"Dang it! You beat me."
"Oh, no! Now I must fight for myself!"

But, then, I guess she needed the intercession, seeing as she lost in the end, she couldn't have won anyway. I find it difficult to believe that the Overlord could condone such cowardly action. (I also doubt that they said "Oh" that much... heh heh heh.)
