A few thoughts on the matters lined here-in.

Ally asks: "A question: Person X can be insulted by Person Y without Person Y planning to insult them. Who gets blamed for that?"
In this community, too often 'Person Y' will be blamed... often by others who had no personal stake in the conversation to begin with. This becomes especially obvious with 'Person X' is not -personally- insulted, but others believe that 'Person Y's words were, in fact, insulting.
But then, that is the way of humankind in general, and of many of the other races as well. Even I am not immune to it at times.

Percival states: "Politics is a dirty game. And politicians here seem to play by especially dirty rules."
Simply put... Politics, like any other 'game', is only as dirty as the people who 'play' it. Even the sport of Chess can be a 'dirty game' if rude comments and venomous words are bandied about over the board. Again, this is part of life, and very few people are completely immune to this sort of behavior.

Roland writes: "I suppose what I'm trying to say is; the insults and politics will come and go, as will your skill with a blade and political allies... but what will always remain is your true friends, and the dueling hall."
And what of when the people you considered true friends insult and turn their back on you? It has been some time since our falling out, and while I may have born some malice against you then, it is gone now... But recently, another person I considered a friend did much the same... But I will comment on that at another time.

I thank you for your time.

Simply put, it is a great dissappointment when someone you consider a true friend ( this not being your next door neighbor, or even dueling buddy ) runs out on you for whatever reasons. Maybe you had it coming, or maybe this person has lost all since of well being, or maybe, if this person was a true friend, just needs help and is too stubborn to admit to it, and some times, it just needs time.

The last time someone I considered a true friend ran out on me, he was found dead the next morning. Not because of anything I did, but because something I *didn't* do...

Then again, everyone has a different meaning to the word 'friend'.

Good fortunes, peoples!

To Whomever...

The Political Structure has change quite a bit since my last visit. The tides are changing slowly to the beliefs that I proudly fought for in the past. This place resides some of the most talented sword fighters in Rhydin; it should not be hampered by ones who conceal themselves behind ToW intercessions.

The Political Benefits that many seek to use has always destroyed the fabric of this arena. I will not elaborate my thoughts from the past... for ones with more fame are admirably fighting for them.

The Organization of DoS has given us a clearer path to unseat the old views. In time... I believe a new legacy will start. I shall be one who will make a conscious effort to assist it in that direction.

Summer ponders this statement for a few mintues then scrawls at the bottom of Percy's note:

Percy,

Politics be about getting what ya want with out coming ta blows. Now, there be many that call the lessening of ta violence a good thing. Course, there be those nae wanting ta dirty themselves as ya like ta say. I suppose they just wear an apron an use a sledgehammer.

Me, I hope ta stick to ta diry politics meself. I

Summer brings up a good point, "Politics be about getting what ya want with out coming ta blows. " If this is true however then do poltics really have a place in a sport that deals with the wielding of blades?

Hmm, wondering who he is talking about here.

Where there are titles rather than simply ranks, there will always be politics.

ahem....ahem......everyone turn your eyes on over to Fists.....over a year without a noticeable amount of politics. I'm sure the politics didn't start over night in swords either but I just wanted to point that out. Titles do not equal politics. You people make it to be like that. People duel for fun in fists and challenges are for the sake of competition.

For one, a duel with fists and a duel with blades are very different.

The reason the DoF doesn't have 'politics' is because it doesn't have enough intrest nor does the rank require you to chose an allignment based on the Diamond.

I for one believe the DoF does have a certain amount of politics. A reason I retired, dispite injuries.

This post seems to be illogical. I don't mean to argue either for Fala's opinion or for Roland, but I have to comment on a few things here, so Roland can clarifiy his points.

1. There are differences between a fistfight and a swordfight, but how do they affect politics? I am curious.

2. It doesn't have enough interest? Now, I am not a competitor int he DoF, but while it has fewer devotees its devotees seem to be both more responsible and more devoted and interested. Rightly or wrongly, they often champion it above the DoS.

3. After explaining why there is no politics, you state that it does have a certain amount of politics and that is why you quit. It seems to contradict the rest of your statement.

I am not trying to offend, and I apologize in advance for any that might be given. I am just asking you to clarify the post, Roland.

Roland,
I know there is differences between swords and fists which keeps the politics out of fists. It was made like that because they never wanted politics like the ones that occur here and so far it has worked fairly nicely. If you consider your anger with Matt Simon after your lost match politics then your foolin yourself.
Now back to my original response...

>>Where there are titles rather than simply ranks, there will always be

You people make it to be like that.
