This is a bloodsport. One fought and dealt with honor. This is a place where warriors can display their skill amongst their peers in a true one on one situation, instead of in a battlefield.
When a Baron or Overlord is 'dishonorable' it effects us all. Granted, this isn't as close to the heart as one's kingdom or country's politics, but it is important for us as a whole. We are a community, plain and simple. Warriors from across the lands that meet in this one place to test our skills in a relatively peaceful form of combat.
When you say this is just a sport, that the time and money some of us has spent on this place, you are not only down playing everything that has happened here, but you are saying everything that you and anyone else who has dueled in these rings has been for nothing. Nothing but a mere fancy title.
I take offense to that, but understand where you must be coming from.

I hold an opinion towards people's actions and words, thus "judge". I'm going to continue doing what I think is right, not because all of a sudden misfortune has happened to Dal, but because I think it's right.
To be blunt (as I generally am), I figured most people were doing what they thought were right. It seems, though, that people wish to say "things will be a lot different now that Dal is gone". Fact of the matter is, things won't change, and this is another string of ideas to show such.
I've already had to say this to a couple people in the arena last night. Dal was never the cause of the bickering, just his actions reflected upon people's opinions toward him. His ended reign as overlord won't change how people think and what they do, people do that themselves.
Thus, I don't think there will be much of a change, Ian, no matter what you do or who you condemn. Why do I write such harsh opinions to others? Because I want my thoughts known.
While one may think this is off topic, I feel it falls under the category of belief that "EVERYTHING will change now." Those who wish to believe such will recieve a bite from harsh reality.
On a final note, the quotes Dae highlighted sound like the boards today anyhow, thus proving the hypothesis that things won't change.

This is far more than a mere sport, and failing to understand that fact is to fail to understand life in this community.
Were it a mere sport, would Dalamar Ar'Daumon have been reviled personally simply for following the rules? Were it only a sport, there would never have been a question of whether his actions to retain his position were honorable or not, now would there?
No... this is not a sport. The inevitable firestorm surrounding most challenges should be more than enough evidence of that.

As I stated you and I often disagree. But I will suspend any adversarialism at this time until I have seen the actions of this *ring* for myself and allow myself to judge your people by actions. And not by hysterical imaginings that the dark undertone of your words might be setting in the community.
Truely I have found that this community is more than able to police itself...and that those that would malign or do their titles wrong are quickly removed by those that feel it is right to do so. So as I have stated...I merely watch and wait.
