A Ring's Defense

<<Tonight, the Loyal Baron Ajaybird of Ballentyne will be fighting under the colors: Sapphire Blue with Silver/Black.
His Coat of Arms is a dual set of light blue-hued wings trimmed in black, emerging from a silver shield set on a sapphire blue background.
The left wing is clutching a sacred scroll, while the right wing clutches a longsword bearing ancient runes etched in the steel.
The Responsiblity of Second, falls on the Elven Warrioress Spike.
The Baron's Lady of Honor, His loving wife Lady Sher of Ballentyne.
. . .
As a side note, this will be his 6th defense of the 2nd Ring.
No Baron has defended 6 times in one reign in the History of DoS,
The duel takes place 8 months after winning the Ring from Daegarth.
He has defended against GoldenLyon, Baphe, Raiyko, Adonai, and most recently Rix Favre

Challenging the Baron for the 2nd ring, is the Warlord Arlingond, Grand Knight of Questrion.
He fights under the standard of Questrion, A Silver Unicorn on a field of Black.
His Lady of Honor for tonight, the woman who bore him, Alaisia d' Nightsong Sidhe. We regret that she can only be with us in spirit.
Standing as his second is the lady who named him, Baroness Luthien of Mountainside
Arlingond is the son of Valmion, the 13th Overlord of Duel of Swords.
Just now making a name for himself, this will be his first attempt at a Barons ring in his 2½ years of dueling.
Speaking of Names, *Arlingond* is Elvish for "Noble Singing Rock".
. . .
Good luck to both of you.>>

That was how the night Began, What Transpired next is a moment in DoS history as Ajaybird of Ballentyne Becomes the First Baron to ever successfully defend his ring 6 times in one holding.

Congratulations AJay. I hope that you wear it long. I don't know what I'd do if there was no *Baron Bird* in the rings ::Smiles::

::thinks that it wouldn't be the same without Rad's wisecracking. It'd only be better:: Nice defending, AJay, you did well and are a credit to the Baronial ranks. Arlingond, well tried, my friend, you're a credit to Warlords. Both of you handled yourselves very respectfully and gentlemanly. I applaud you for your handling during the match.*G*

::Returning from guarding the Eastlands, happy to see the results, but sorry he missed the event, posts a note of congratulations::Milord Baron, Well done! Congratulations on thy historic defense. Thy name and achievements shall be remembered forever. To the challenger, Arlingond, thy name will also be remembered forever, though not, perhaps, as thou woulds't most prefer. Thy conduct, from all reports, was above reproach throughout the challenge. It is good to see that such an historic occasion will not be marred by dishonorable and childish actions (Rad's behavior notwithstanding, but somehow even expected and amusing [smile Rad, we love you].). I thank both of thee for adding another chapter to the long and glorious history of Rhy-Din and the Duel of Swords. Again, congratulations to both of you.Honor and Skill,
