On the status of Dalamar

For the first, last, and only time,

Those of you who believe Dalamar is dead, show me proof. You cannot possibly know what has transpired. Only three people do. Therefore, stop using Dalamar's death as a motive or a defense, because you simply have no proof he is dead or alive.

Okay, then Sartan, I suppose that brings up a pretty easy question, and I'm sure that since you were one of the Oh So Priviledged three people, you can answer it. Basically, Sartan, and Morgan too, since she seems to delight in telling the rest of us that we are so ignorant, I ask you simply to get to the point.

Is Dalamar Alive or is he Dead?

There, that's easy enough. Do be so good as to answer a simple question for us, rather then just running around saying "You don't know, and I do...Nyahnyah." I'm sure you'll solve a lot more problems that way.

Questioningly,
Aerenth Artides.

Aerenth and to any other interested parties,

Rather than it being a matter of privilege, it was a matter of who was last to tend to our mutual friend.

The night in question, Dalamar's second (myself), champion (Sartan), and close friend (Roland) were prevented from attending to him immediately after his collapse because various people blocked our way as they swarmed over him. Percival took it upon himself to pound upon Dalamar's chest (I was told later that he thought it would start the heart pumping) and cry out for a doctor.

I tried several times to tell Percival that as his second and as a healer that I would take over. He ignored me and continued pounding on the Dalamar's chest. Various persons continued in their attempts to restrain myself, Sartan, and Roland from helping Dalamar. My main goal was to remove Dalamar from the stressful environment and take him someplace where he could be comfortable and that I might work in peace to save his life.

Thankfully, the thought-dead MacKenzie materialized and commanded everyone to let us take our friend and Lord away so that we could tend to him without spectators and various enemies milling about.

All anyone needs to know at this point is that Dalamar was taken to Avalon under my custody in conjunction with Sartan's and Roland's custodial duties.

No further information will be released until Dalamar's significant other contacts one of the three mentioned custodians and a specific, but undisclosable, investigation can be concluded.

Until then,

Morgan

Sidartha wandered in to the Arena late at night to read the posts. She was pale and thin, dark circles etched under her eyes from a lack of sleep due to being plagued by nightmares.

She blinked her tired, pale blue eyes at their words, unable to comprehend fully. Alive? How?

In a shaky scrawl, she wrote:

If Dal is not dead, damnit, WHERE IS HE? Why is he not home? Why would he leave me alone like this?

Dal must be dead, else he'd be here...he must be. But, if he's alive, bring him back to me! Stop hiding him!

Well, the history lesson was very interesting Morgan, but it still does not answer my question. In fact, the only answer I was looking for was a simple "Yes" or a "No." That would have sufficed. Instead, I, and apparently Good Lady Sidhartha and who know's how many others are left even further in the dark then before. Instead of being blissfully ignorant of the former Overlords condition, and having
assumed him dead, we are now left with the impression that not only is he alive, but has been kidnapped and is being held away for some esoteric purpose in a mythical Isle far from the reach of those who love him (of which, I do not profess to be, I hardly knew him, I am merely trying to get the facts straight). Whether alive or dead, You have spirited him away, leaving the rest of us to mourn him, perhaps unnecessarily, and to draw perhaps false
conclusions. Needless to say, if he is not, in fact deceased, you have, I think, caused many, many, many people unneeded and thoughtless grief. And, if we are in fact in the right and he is in fact dead, I would say that you now owe it to the community as a whole to put our minds at ease and let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. And further, I believe, dead or alive, you owe the community, and especially those that loved him, a very belated
apology. Please, it cannot be so hard. Again, I ask you a simple question. It requires but a simple "yes" or "no" answer.

Is Dalamar Alive?

Interested,
Aerenth Artides.

Pardon me, I seem to have been temporarily distracted by Lady Sidhartha's heartfelt and poignant questions. On second, more detached, glance at your comments, Morgan, I find myself intrigued. Though I am not refuting my earlier note and question, I am merely adding to it.

Tell me, I am confused, have you lost Dalamar? I mean, truely, can you not find him? It seems to me, that that is the tone of your letter. Not only do you refuse to answer a question that should be painfully easy to answer, you also point toward a nameless "investigation." Tell me, what are you investigating? Also, you say you took Dalamar to Avalon so that you "could tend to him without spectators and various enemies milling about." Well,
that's wonderful. I'm glad you did, I would hope that it worked. Did it? How did it go? When you brought him to Avalon, was he still alive at that point, or was he already dead? If so, were you able to ressusitate him? Tell me, are you still tending him? Or have you already buried him. Or did he live, and you send him on his way and forget to tell us? Perhaps it is as I orginionally thought, did you lose him? If so, where did he go? Who
took him? Was he alive when you lost him?

Pardon me...I was ranting. But even still, they are all questions that I think you owe it to the community and to Dalamar's loved ones to answer. Please, if you have indeed brought him under your care, as you say, and he is still under your care, these should be rather simple questions, and frankly, I'm appalled that no one but you know's the answer to them. Tell me, what have you been doing all this time? Twiddling your collective thumbs? I do
believe that it's time for you to fess up. As the saying goes..."Inquiring Minds want to know."

Inquiring Mindfully,
Aerenth Artides.

Lord Artides:

I believe the point Lady Cornwall was making is that it would be improper to inform the community at large of Lord Ar'Daumon's condition before informing Lady Elgarette; further, it would be improper to inform Lady Elgarette in such an impersonal manner as a message posted to this cork, or even by courier.

I am assured that both Ladies Cornwall and Elgarette have been trying to run into each other in order that this information might be passed on in an appropriate and sensitive manner. It is for this reason that discussing the issue in so public a forum - while admittedly of great interest to the community - is not entirely appropriate.

I sympathize with your concern, and that of others, but proper methods must be followed. As soon as Lady Elgarette has been informed, in person, of the situation, I am certain we will be as well.

::head swelled with thoughts of death, and suicide notions from dear friends, he pens calmly::
Morgan...and you other two...please..just..talk to Sid. Say something. The lady has entered her own world..we are losing her, and she is looking for you, Morgan..all afternoon and eve, I listened and spoke with a confused, heartbroken Sid, who's only comfort was the sight of the banners laying the arena. She wants ta know wot happened to her beloved..of all people..tell her..everything you know. She deserves that much, and she feels you three
are..hiding something, laird knows what, and wants to know of her beloved's faith. Morgan, deah, instead of answering 'pon da cork..re-direct yeh attention to Sid..she is the one who deserves, needs, and is lost without this knowledge you contain.

Respectfully and Mournfully,
Coron.

I wish simply to thank the esteemed figurehead of the much vaunted Amythest Ring for his directness and clearness of thought. would that we could all learn to say what we mean in such a nice, neat, concise manner. Thank you Mr. Ian Rex. Your words on this manner were most enlightening.

First, a prayer,

Dear lord, please let Dalamar be alive... for I still have not pounded him the way I wished been able to while he was alive. And lord, if he is dead, please allow his poor spirit the oppertunity to hear my laughs from the earth below, so that he might know that he went though his long hard reign as Overlord for nothing but a premature death. Thank you lord.

Snivilings...

Investigation. Ha ha... what more fo you need than a dead body and the blood on the sand of the ring and on Marcho's weapon to conclude whether or not he's dead and the cause of death?

You guys should replace your ward batteries every year. Soon there'll be a fire and it won't work to put out the flames. Of course, the Ward of Gonder is pretty old, probally has chunks missing and scratches, perhaps you should just replace it.

Aerenth

Aire thee a completely insensitive twit or do thee simply hae nae anna heart, mind or intelligence atall? Tis nae anna of thine business nor that of the community until Madame Elgarette hast been informed.

Thee might instead put thine "inquiring mind", presuming ye hae one, that is, ta learning of the gentleman ye be addressing ast Mr. Ian Rex. Gads, man, thine ignorance be ast glaring ast thine insensitivity, yet tis nae surprise what with what appears to be the collective intelligence level of those of thine ilk.

Tis the personage thee aire addressing ast Mr. Ian Rex, be Ian MacKenzie, Monarch of the Kingdom of Caithness. If thee care to speak with thine "roman" friend, thee wouldst discover that "Rex" be the latin for King.

Thee may ask ast thee wish, thee numbskull, thee hae been given the only answer thee deserves.

Bluntly,
Jonalyn Starfare.

Let us all put our hand together in praise of the highly esteemed Lady Starfare, for she too has mastered the ability to express her points clearly and without the cumbersome hamperings of civility and grace. Bravo, Lady. I commend you. Would that we could all learn from your example.

Lord Artides:

I confess to feeling foolish. When you did respond to my comments, I read your response to be thankful for a gentle, reasoned explanation of the situation. I assumed that you rightly grasped that I was not chastising you for a completely understandable desire for knowledge; after all, having human hearts, we sometimes forget the needs of others in pursuit of our own needs, and it occured to me that perhaps the community needed a reminder that Lady
Elgarette has suffered far more than any of us in the absence of the former Overlord.

Then I witness you saying essentially the same thing in response to something you must surely have taken offense to, and I am let to wonder if your response to a reasoned plea for sensitivity toward one who has suffered a loss is to drip sarcasm. Surely, the similarity of your responses must be mere coincidence; after all, I do not take you for an oaf, and only an oaf would take offense at my previous request.

Touche, Ian. I must say, I do think that I have been out played here. The game has indeed been fun, but I will henceforth retire and conceed defeat to Lady Starfare and thyself. Please understand both of you that I hold only myself in comtempt after this episode. You have played with stellar results, and thus I am quiting the field. Please, feel free to continue your own amusements on this board, and
know that you have vanquished yet another opponent. And, since I have retired my say in this exquisite play of words, I would like to set the record straight on my meaning, as it appears I have been playing quite out of my league and competing solely with myself. In response to Ian's first return message, I was indeed grateful to his polite words and civility, however, I was a bit concerned that I had unwittingly invited other sources to answer a
question I had hoped to pose solely to Madame LeFay. Lady Starfare, however, indeed irked me, as was her point, I am sure, thus landing the first blow, and paving the way, Ian, in his second response merely presented the masterstroke, cleverly using my own pitifully disguised sarcasm and double entendre against me, thus providing for my concession of defeat. Again, to both Ian and Lady Starfare, please understand that I hold you both in the highest
respects, and I honor you both for not falling to my own silly games and lowering yourself to my own pitiful level. A game well played.

Here's to the victors.

Lord Artides:

Such ill befits you. Perhaps you and Lady Starfare are playing a "game," but rest assured I am, and was, not.

That you were, indeed, sincere in your first response to me relieves me of the concern that my honest concern for the sensitivities of the bereaved was not being mocked. Simply stating such would have been more than sufficient to warrant an apology from me for presuming otherwise, which you may consider tendered in the saying.

Ian Rex.
