Archmage Tournament Results

The tournament saw four challengers compete for the right to challenge the Archmage Tim Enralyte. The participants were, in no particular order, Vinny, Mur the Sage, Xerzes Maureen and William Wulfson.

The first round of duels saw Xerzes and Mur in one ring, William and Vinny in the other.
Xerzes took the lead in the second round and never relinquished it, to take the win (5-2.5) in the ninth round by dramatically escaping a touch attack from Mur.
William fell behind early. By the 12th round Vinny was only an advantage away from the certain win with more than double the score of William. But William pulled off an astounding come back and took the duel into overtime. Keeping Vinny from scoring at all for five consecutive rounds, William secured the win (6-4.5) in round 18 with a touch attack.

Round 2 saw Xerzes and Vinny in one ring, Mur and William in the other. Both duels were decided in mercifully short 8 rounds. A minor disturbance of someone messing with the twilight of the Isle during the casting phase of the 5th round of the duels was quickly dealt with by Klytus. The tournament could commence without interruption.
Xerzes started strong and stayed strong throughout the match, taking the win (5-2.5) by pelting Vinny with a swarm of meteors.
Mur, in a mostly offensive match, took the win against William (5-3) by freezing him into an icicle.

Round three, the semifinal, was split up. First up were Xerzes and William, second up were William and Mur.
Xerzes and William were evenly matched throughout the entire duel. The lead switched often, even after the duel went into over time. Finally, in round 19, William was able to secure the win (8-6.5) by knocking the wind from Xerzes with a mind-wiping spell.
The battle between Mur and William was equally close throughout. William secured the win in round 9 (5-4) with the defensive use of a mage bolt.

The Final saw William Robert Wulfson matched against Xerzes Helmut Darke Maureen. After already having been casting spells for four hours, they turned up the heat even more. William managed to snatch the lead away from Xerzes in round 6, only to loose the lead again in round 9. Xerzes secured the win of the match and the tournament by packing William's mind numbing spell into a cloud noxious fumes.

Having been declared the winner of the tournament of mages, Xerzes announced he'd retire as Keeper of Air in order to press challenge to the Archmage Tim Enralyte. Xerzes will present the key to the Tower of Air to Etherean Esperwind prior to the Archmage Challenge Tuesday evening, Autumnal Equinox, 8 pm EST.
