Of loyalties lost
Date: 10/2/97 9:03 AM Pacific Standard Time
From: Bended Kne
I post this in hopes that others might not suffer the disservice that has become me in the past weeks.
Some time ago I posted a challenge to one who had alligned his titla renegade to the Overlord. As all know I was sucessfull in returning the ring to its rightfull alignment of loyal.
My allignment was set from the ideals that the Overlord was both fair and honorable...as far as I had seen.......and in service to several close friends holding rings, and their encouragement to do so.
It pains me to say that from the announcement of my alignment of loyalty to the Overlord I recieved no courtesy from him in any way. I was oft' overlooked in the arenas and at challenges and was given the courtesy of recognition of my presence only when pressed or initiated by myself. Nor was I given the acknowledgement of the Baronial as is customary through notification of the Barons council which was to be held.....I had to hear about it from
someone else.
Through the weeks coming to the challenge held last night, on several occasions I was privy to see my challenger and the Overlord engaged in pleasantries.....this coming even less than a week before the match was held.
I understand that there are many friendships forged within the realm over time and this is a grand thing....however the attitude of the Overlord who did HIM a favor in his allignment....to me since the winning of the ring was less than honorable, accepting , and welcome.
Last night at the challenge I arrived early to find Dalamar engaged in a duel. He finished and sat at a nearby table acknowledging my second and fellow Baron AJ yet it was not until I pressed him in a greeting of respect that he gave me a "nod"
stating....."skill and honor Baron" then returned to his nothingness. Apon the enterance of my challenger Ulath the O'lord turned and shouted out a greeting offering the best of luck skill and honor......unsolicited! SOME SUPPORT!
It seems to me that one in such a powerfull position would have more propriety and HONOR than that. Even if he had been neutral that would have been acceptable and understandable but this was not the case. I pains me to see that if you are not IN with the leader you are not Worthy!
Dal I pose this to YOU! Think about your refusal to support one of YOUR Barons through the match....think of the slap in the face as the match began and you failed to remain.....and think of the conversations among the remaining people....some 15 and some Barons who expressed the same opinion and disgust at the recent attitude that is being shown by yourself.......friends come easy M'lord.....enemies you have to WORK to attain.........and I heard
last night from many that you are working hard!
Thank you for your lack of support and acceptance, for it brought me back to reality!

Heath-
The most eloquent name, "Of loyalties lost", suggests that you at one time had such a bond between yourself and others. Did you not stop, and for one moment consider that perhaps the Overlord wanted Ulath to reign in your place, and simply couldn't summon up a hearty "Good luck" to you? I'd not be suprised at all were Dalamar to be better acquainted with Ulath than yourself.
The overlord did not asign you your loyalty, Scot. You chose it.

::persuing by the boards and finds Rads reply to Heath::Rad, You bring an interesting point of view to light.. we choose who and what to be loyal to and they do have the right to accept or not accept that loyalty. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by dead honor and would appreciate if you would clarify it.We all make unwise decisions at some point in our lives and perhaps it was Heaths turn for this misjudgement. You, however, have no room to preach loyalties to anyone.. considering how you dumped Gnort and House D-T for House L which is now Dracoern Highlands.. and you asked Valmion if he would accept you into House Questrion.. You see you do have loyalty, Rad.. to yourself.. and what's best for you. Mind you.. there is nothing wrong in looking out for yourself.. but I would be very cautious about making political alliances of any kind with someone with that kind of track record least I desired sleeping with one eye open and watching for knives in my back.Just my opinion.. Jeff...Oh ye of lost ideals, Oh ye of misbegotten words, Oh ye of lies so common they in themselves are held as truths...I am here to speak to you, half-breed. And you are here to listen. Indeed, I would be hard pressed not to suggest to you, oh Noble warlord, that that which you condemn me for preaching as dead is instead exploited, by your twisted, wretched tongue--A concept of chivalry long past and deceased, but still dug up by clutching claws to cheerfully exude before each and every match, "Skill and honor". To you, Oakenshield, I have but this to say--I spit upon your honor! Your dead concepts do naught but churn my stomach, ye of the blind masses which raid the once-noble Arenas. Of pleasures abounding, I can think of none that would please me more than your dry, parted lips slack on a stump where an executioner's axe had had the fortune to lacerate the worthless stump that some call a head from your grizzled shoulders. Second among these wordly delights might surface as flinging the bloated corpse of the baggage you call a bride..and let her tainted blood soil your pretty colors, a fancy being that whatever half-born ilk awash in her stomach might die a horrible, painful death, deprived of whatever twisted sustenance the cur may have granted unto it. I have much more to say, stain of the warlords..but I'd not want to be adverse to the public eye.Forever in truth,I am,

Okay, back to the topic at hand, because I really don't care what Rad does either way.
True, Heath chose to be loyal to Dalamar, and while Dal had no obligation to intercede like he tends to do for his loyal Barons, I get the feeling that if Heath was the most convient L-Baron to ask, Dal would ask Heath to champion him against an opponent.. The Overlord, in my opinion, holds the duty of intercession to all his loyal Barons if he intercedes for any any, just as a honorable king is responsible to his people.

Zaradda Eltorch, ya are a sick little man, changed so much from when I called ya friend and joined da house ya were apart of a few months ago.
I truly hope Valmion turned ya down, da last ding he needs is ya corruptin' da name Questrion with yer rantin' and ravin' about dead honor. Ya have no respect fer anyone or anythin' Zaradda, and I am ashamed ta be associated with ya, which is why I wanted out of da Dracoern Highlands. If Lupton can tolerate ya, more power ta him, but I most certainly can't. As fer ya jumpin' on me friend Heath's back, ya just be careful, lest ye enjoy sleepin'
with one eye open fer da rest of yer days.
Simply,

::Looks at the postings, sighs::Rad, you are indeed sick. I suppose I am confused on a few aspects on the meaning of "post". To my previous understanding, posts were used to announce something publically, be it an upcoming event, or an event that has already passed, and someone would like to be public. It is NOT used to humiliate, slander, or just plain annoy people publically. When you "spit on Jeff's honor" that seems like it should go in your diary, but not here. You, on the other hand, seem to have the term "bearer of dead honor" mixed up. I know many men and women who define honor, so therefore it exists. You need to change your title, sir, to "Self inflicted damage to personal honor" probably. Now, I know the term may seem difficult to understand, so I'll explain it now:All men and women are born with honor. It is a part of their souls, and it shows their virtue, and how they appreciate a true life. Over time, when one "matures" they need room for their self sufficient needs. You once had honor, Rad, now you empty your selfish soul, and try to find it again... Var Medici-Giovanni

I don't consider you enough of an entity to actually consider my words as I did for the Half-breed, you dismal, perpetually smiling and nodding wretch who lives in a state of delusion and will die in the same...Let me just say this.
Honor is dead, son. There's nothing left in its wake but greed crafted to fit exactly like that. Let us take the barons challenges..the same ones that state "Honor" before each match ruthlessly plow their opponent down for some half-wit reason and claim to have honor. Want me to list them? I don't have the room, child. So before you speak again..think of my words, and their import.

Heath;
The obvious questrion would seem to be to inquire as to whether Dalamar ever requested that you declare loyalty to him. If he indeed posed this request, the possibility still lies that he could simply have been manipulating a naive man, as would many. What strikes as broken loyalty to one flows through another's reason as expected.
Jeff;
I'd perhaps not take to such biting words, but take to thought what you speak when regarding threats, lest you find yourself the victim of your own intentions.

::Pausing on her way home to read the message board... something she finds less and less time to do lately.:: Rad... At one point, I called you a friend, and I knew many who did likewise. As your words and actions have proven, you are nothing like the man I was intorduced to when I began dueling. Most of the people I know have Honor, and hold it in high esteem If you believe Honor is dead, than to yours is. But for a greater majority of us, Honor is something we will always have. Jeff... Trust in your own Honor, which I have seen and know to be true. I understand why you are doing what you're doing and support you whole heartedly. You were one of my first friends and supporters in the Arena, and I hope you always will be.

::Looks sadly to the boards and pens a last response::
To all who have stepped to my side in understanding and in support, I am deeply gratefull. I fear that I must reply to the naysayers and attackers of my most alive honor by stating that the thoughts and feelings that I wrote of earlier came out of information that I became aware of at one time shortly before the challenge took place. I had noticed that Dal had stepped to intercede most often on behalf of his Loyal Barons....he did not for
me........that is not the point....words and theories floated about the arenas prior to the challenge that swirled around what may or may not have been opinions.....being ....that my challenger was given council by the overlord as to the challenge that he posted to me......wanting to have the challenger at his side rather than myself. Wether these were truth of fiction will likely never be known, however from the events of the challenge led me to
think on this....thus my feelings were so posted.
Tis true that the Overlord could have accepted or refused my alignment, however most do not know that the Overlord did send me a private message expressing his delight in my alignment and accepting me in as one of his own. That was the end to the acceptance.
Wether romors come to fruition and the rings go corrupt as swirling words hint of or it is all a lie only time will tell....but intercessions since only seem to tighten the grip around my heart.
