That's what happens when he thinks.

Billy sat in the hottub of the newly rebuilt Dead Nicholas. He was sore from the ass whooping Jesse had given him the night before and was throwing himself a pity party. He remembered how he'd asked Drake his record and found out it was 85 WoL or so. He also remembered going to the boards later that night and checking his standings from two years ago, and being disgusted at seeing it at 80 WoL.

The realization that he hadn't dueled worth a squat in the past two years scared him. Now he knew why he felt out of place, old and tired. Sure, he'd dueled plenty of matches, but they were all about the big name ticket, the money gigs. He'd been doing a disservice to himself all these years by letting his skills slack, and his reputation fester. Sure the legend can thrive, but even kids are scared of the boogeyman, even if he's uses a walker and
wears depends.

The skill was still there, so was the will, and deep down he soon realized that he still had the passion. Screw it if the the place was full of new kids, he was new once too. He was a sore loser fer sure, but because he hated losing so much he had always strived to be the best, and in truth, defeat came rarely. He needed to get back to what he had been, not rings or titles.....just the damn nitty-gritty, black-eyed, bloody-nosed brawlin' that made
him what he is.

He paused to think that he could drop it all now and the legend would remain, and even possibly grow a bit in time, but that was what Billy's dad used to call "Half steppin'". A guy who half steps almost always ends up tripping on his face.

He realized there were still a few thing that had never been done, to his knowledge. Winning the Overlord title with no fancies and defending it the same, possibly having a renegade que of 4 or so challengers, that new 6 move system he had worked out...so much yet to do.

With a lopsided grin he sank deeper into the bubbles, knowing that in time, maybe he could live up to the image of himself he'd made when he had the hunger.
