Anniversary
From: casmaxim@aol.com (Cas Maxim)
Date: 20 May 1999 04:20:33 EDT
I have remembered that today is the 3 month, or one cycle, anniversary of my winning the Sixth. Also, I have been here, in the Duel of Swords community, for roughly one year now.
I want to take this time to thank all the people who have become my friends, and all of those I have met. I would like to thank the officials that have called my matches. I would like to thank the opponents whom I have fought skilled and long matches with. I would like to thank the opponents I have defeated easily, for at least getting in the ring with me.
I'd like to thank Drakewyn Alabaster Silvertree for getting me in the Jade Gryphons, Gnort Dragoon Talanador for getting me into his House, and Eros Hunrai Marzanhe DeBurgo for mentoring me. And of oucrse, my wife, the love of my being, Laylla Angelique Maximius, who introduced me to the sport in the first place.
Is this a good-bye speech? Not by the farthest strecth....I got myself a *long* way to go.

I wish I had remembered when and where I started, when I did things and against whom, but I didn't and have forgotten alot of what I knew.
Always remember where you came from.
That whay you can find your way home again.

To some, an anniversary can mean the world. To some, it is a date of great joy, or sorrow... one not likely to be forgotten.
The anniversary of when a dueler gains title, particularly their first title, may be forever etched in the heart and mind of the dueler in question. Titles are more than just a word, the rings more than just trinkets. They symbolize both an accomplishment and a responsibility.
In some ways, a Barony could be considered the same as a marriage... in this case, a marriage to the community. In that light, it only seems natural the anniversary be remembered, if only by the one celebrating it.
I celebrate my anniversary every month... I remember.
Congrats, Cas. May you be around to celebrate many more anniversaries in the Duel of Swords.

Aspen, no one cares about your childish tongue, you cannot believe how much little twerps like you infuriate me. You come to the arena like you own the thing, when actually.. no one likes you. Keep your comments, thoughts, and reactions to yourself, because no one cares.

You're breaking my heart.
We all have anniversaries, boy. There's no reason you should clutter up this cork just cuz you happened to remember one of yours. You're not special.

>>There's no reason...
There is a reason, Quiz kid. Why don't we all put up our anniversaries as they come? Quite a mess we'd have. And if this boy is just using it as a springboard to "thank" everyone he's met, there's nothing more meaningless than slapping a list on a paper sheet and pinning it up somewhere. Is it too much for you to thank them in person? Whoopee, they must feel real good. And now the majority have to
waste our time digging under this scrap to find something worth reading. Super, kid.

If you don't like hearing about other people's special dates, don't read things entitled, "Anniversary." The cork is not cluttered unless you read items you dislike. You should be able to get the jist of the post from the first sentence, and don't point fingers and say that people are cluttering the board when the only reason it feels cluttered is because you're too curious to pass on the article. And Aspen, lad, just
be careful as to what you say and write; the more negative, unwarranted actions you place into the world, the more you get out of it, I say. Congrats, Cas, and well wishes.
