Dueling 101: For Commoners

What qualities make a good dueler?

A good mind for strategy and tactics is essential. The ability
to quickly size up your opponent and adapt your style accordingly
is essential. Psychologically, a dueler must be able to maintain
focus,concentration,and emotional level-headedness under intense
conditions of combat. Stress management, Visualization,and relaxation
techniques are all helpful to putting in winning performances.

Wise words, Sir Robert. Moreover, one thing that all duelists, ideally, should display in the ring (along with your words, of course) is humility.
It is sometimes hard to show humility, and sometimes we don't want to show it, but it is seen by your opponent, and your opponent will appreciate the credit you give them.

Robert,

I think the post was good, nice job.

Although I never have been the humble type, it is always a good idea to give someone who has displayed better skill and luck that night some kind of kudos. Sometimes I don't, but that's me and not everyone is as malajusted as I am.

If I was to name one quality a dueler, new or old, HAS to have in any of the duels, it would be
CONFIDENCE. With it you can rise above yourself and often duel to levels outside of your normal skills. If you believe in your abilities and it is evident in the way you carry yourself, your apponent will also see this and be affected in the process.

Hm...I'm afraid you all got it wrong...You see, if you put all of that together and duel me with it...Me being a tad luckier than you...and I've got the win, regardless of how 'well refined' and confident you are...

The things that makes the differance from a good duelist from a bad duelist is... the ability to win. HOw you go about it is numerous and will be explained a hundred times over and a thousand times through... figure it out for your damn self and stop listening to me and and
other people.
