Retirement
From: lyonxx@aol.com (Lyon xx)
Date: 31 May 1999 12:42:40 EDT
To friend and foe alike,
I am letting all know that on this day, the 31st of May, that I am stepping down from being a baron and that I am also retiring from the sport. I have thought on this for some time but held out in the hopes that my dear friend Daegarth would become a baron again and he and I would enjoy some time together as barons. It would seem that the Great Spirit does not think now is the time.
One thing I have never cared for in a baron is absenteeism and I have become that. I do apologize to all for that failure. I could say it is other duties that pull me away and that would be partly true, but the heart of the matter is I have lost my desire and passion to be here. Will I return? Perhaps, though doubtful. So, on this day I retire and offer up the 1st ring as a prize in the tourney.
I wish all of you good fortunes and peace, and may the day of your deaths be better than the day of your births.
Lyon

Good Baron Lyon,
I never had the honor of being able to meet you or be in the ring with you. I would like to think that you were one of the better barons of the DoS.

I can honestly state that there are few people who would've made better Barons than you, Lyon.
When you once more have the time, it'll be a joy to see you regain a title...and also to beat you around the rings again.

The commoner quirked a brow as she perused the missive, She set quill to parchment, then tacked it to the cork.
Lyon T'gar
Unto thee, once bearer of the storied First Ring, a good journey and may thine way be smooth. Thou shalt be remembered. Though the fire in thine heart may flicker and dim, thine desire and passion fade, thou hast left a legacy within the ancient cavern.

Lyon,
It takes courage to acknowledge an unpleasant truth about oneself. It takes great courage to act on it for the betterment of others. You have done the right thing, and well done. Take care.
