Overlord,
A simple question as I just wish to know how you stand on intercession and the Test of Worthiness. So, the question being, how do you stand on intercession and the Test of Worthiness?

Cletus,
At the time when Overlord Miyamoto took the crown and I was considering alignment I asked him this question also. The answer he gave was along the lines of "each situation is unique and handled differently." These weren't his words but it was basically the point of the thing. Anyways, that answer was one of the factors that I went neutral because I felt that he really didn't answer the qeustion.

There are some people who, not necessarily through their skill, but rather through their actions are *not* worthy, and therefore the ToW should be applied. On the other hand, there are people who may have just barely made them worthy to challenge, but through their actions have shown themselves to be truly worthy of becoming a leader of this Community, and
the ToW should not be applied.
So, in other words, he *did* give you an answer. It depends on the Challenger. Do you think that, no matter who the Challenger is, that the ToW should either never be used or always be used?

I feel that I would have been satisfied with his answer if he would have at least gone as far as to say he felt that Barons should defend their own ring or that he would prefer to defend his loyal Barons. Ye know, say that he favored one thing over the other but that he would still take each situation as it presents himself. An answer such as that would have been more

Sid has a point. We could have some freak like Ron challenging (no offense to Ron) and we would want an intercession. But if someone honorable, such as Var challenged.. (no offense to var either) an intercession wouldn't be necesary because we all like Var. Thats my 2 ::drops coin:: er.. 1 cent.

No. This is the way that many people *think* the ToW should work. Which is really the sad thing. The vast numbers of people would see it based on popularity or very subjective and sometimes questionable definitions of honor that even those in alleged agreement don't share.

Whether we like it or not, it is up to the Overlord, and not the Community to ultimately decide whether or not the ToW should be applied, so I do not see how it could be assumed to be a popularity contest.

True enough. The Overlord makes the decision. However, let me ask you a question. Have you ever seen people vocally demanding that this or that challenger be Tested because they dislike him? Sometimes, when this individual is someone who is less than popular with the community, there is a large uproar 'demanding' that he or she be Tested. Have you seen that?
I will not declare that every Overlord is swayed by these public sentiments when making his decision. However, simply because of their being voiced, they do *influence* his decision even if they do not make it for him. For the same reason that I cannot claim all Overlords are swayed by such 'demands', I cannot claim that no Overlord has been or would be swayed by them. While an Overlord is not dependent upon election, an Overlord who wishes to be
popular (or more popular) might consider these opinions.
Thus the Test often becomes a popularity contest. Firstly, in the nature of the community's statements about the challenger. Secondly, in the nature of the Overlord's interest in pleasing the community. In such a manner, the Test can be *all* about popularity, the lack of it, or the desire to increase it.
