She had been back for two evenings now. Lyanessa had gone to the arena and recognized no faces from her past. She had met a few new acquaintances, the first evening, and had been informed of the annex. She strolled down to the basement to take a look. Again, no faces from her past, although she did like the arrangement she saw. She then decided to visit the Outback.
She left the Outback close to early morning and decided to visit the arena once more.
She was privy to walks anyway. The birds chirped and she gave them silent salute. She entered the Arena looking to the rings. The spirit of the Lion seemed to wake up inside her. She couldn't resist the urge to jump into the ring and so she lept, landing into a stance. Sighing, she sat on the floor, and an image from the past accompanied her. She laughed as she went over the scene. Athlstan was calling practice matches and Kara had asked her
to dance in the rings. At the time, she had not known that Kara and she were sisters, twins, but she discovered this information later although she didn't remember exactly all the details of the discovery. She waved her hand in the air to dismiss the thought of not having certain memories. The sounds of yesterday seemed to be right in front of her to help assist dismissal.
Every move she had made in the ring was a mirrored reflection. She and Kara had countered each other with the same exact moves. They ended the match with a tie, of course, and Althstan's expression of amazement. Kara's laughter rung in the air leaving Nessa with an empty feeling. Her eyes swelled with water. She stared at the tattoo on her ankle of the Lion and the Lamb. Kara had the same tattoo on her ankle.
Laughter again. This time she realized it wasn't her reminiscing of Kara's laughter. This laughter was real. She felt eyes upon her and gasped at the image of Lord Serene.
"Tis best nae to try to remember the past, Abygaile my child, " he spoke.
"Serene, " she addressed calmly, "tis been long since ye 'ave appeared unto me. What brings me watcher?"
"just that, ... a long time, " he answered. "and perhaps some explanations of sort." The light around him radiated bright.
"Explanations. Aye...I could surely use these. Tis much of a bother that people 'ere are asking about a marriage I 'ave had to another. Was I married, Serene?" She asked, point blank.
"Aby,..." he started, as his image and the light around him descended closer to her, "the Gods and Goddesses deemed that there are certain memories ye should nae have. Ye 'ad a disease that made others think and pronounce ye dead. In a sense, ye really were. A coma is nae exactly the life of things. Child, Kingdom Carmignanci 'as yet to fulfill the prophecy of the Lion and the Lamb together again. Ye 'ave the spirit of the Lion and yer sister
the Lamb."
"AND My sister is dead....we 'ad come together SERENE....I found no peace as is the Legacy. Now she is presumed dead. What of that?" she tempered back.
He waited for her to calm down before he spoke again.
"Together is nae in the means of physicalness. This is an answer for ye to discover. Tis yer position to fill. Ye were presumed Dead and look at yer presence. Do ye doubt that their powers would 'ave sundered naught for your sister as well?"
She gazed back for a long moment, then quietly asked, "How do I handle the challenge of those who remember things that I do nae? I remember even times when I was with them and they claim that another was present. I have memories of only their presence and nae others. For example I remember the evening I discovered that Kara and I were sisters.. It seems another was present and yet I can nae place it."
"Abygaile Lyanessa O' Tennyson, " he called her by full name now. "Child, ye will nae ever remember it for if'n this was bestowed upon ye, the Lion and the Lamb cannot come together. Now, ye 'ave the mind to conquer and counter answers. People will ask, ye will nae remember and sooner or later they will give up the asking."
"This much is true, Serene, but it is me curiosities. People can give names and facilitate them fast. Ifn this person so spoke of were to present, what of me?"
"Aby, Ye will be blinded to this person and certain one or two others. Perhaps it is nae understandable to us....but it is the way the Gods and Goddesses choose it. His name will nae ever be recognizable to ye. Others will see him, but ye will nae. I know that this would be trying...but like I said, The Gods and the Goddesses work in unique ways and for their reasons alone."
Again, she stared at him long and hard, then the look softened.
"I met someone new..." she whispered and smiled. "Well, nae exactly new....I knew of him afore. His name is Elijah Ecore."
He returned a smile, knowingly.
"He 'as me interest enough, " She said through a laugh. "I do nae recall ever 'aving animosities toward him though."
Serene nodded.
"Guess that is part of the amnesia so gifted to me, " she said dryly.
"I must go, Aby. I shall pay visit to ye again, soon."
"Wait....wait....Serene, ... "she called, "I do nae understand why I remember NAE the animosity he so speaks but yet I remember him."
The image started to fade and thin, but Serene did answer.
"The presence of the other, child. Ye can only remember things, ifin ye were alone with someone and nae the others."
"Wait.....Wait....Serene."
The image was gone.

He was in the one of the rings of the Outback for the first time in many moons. Hunter had persuaded him to go over there after Jeff's baronial challenge from Marta and go a few rounds. He figured what the heck since it was his six year anniversary in dueling and a good way to celebrate it would be to of course duel. And to try something not necessarily new, but definitely unfamiliar to him.
So they got to slugging each other about the ring.
During the bout as he was circling Hunter trying how to best lay the jab across his jaw line something had caught his eye. As was his roguish way he immediately picked up on the sight of a dazzling young redheaded lass who had just entered the Outback. Maneuvering in the ring to get a better look he instead got a better look of the mat as Hunter leveled one to level him.
Over the next few rounds when he could spare a glance to get a better look at the fine redhead he seemed to think he remembered her from somewhere. Like somewhere about the duels before. After his duel, while getting some fresh stout to wash away the loss of his duel he noticed Jayc and Zen chatting with the young lady, so when the opening came he moved into their company.
It was after sitting down across from her and talking with her for a brief moment he finally figured out how he knew her. She had always been in the background or off to the side of some dueling events. More especially against one of his former rivals, Leto of Covington. The days when he and Leto went at each other in challenges, he mostly remembered Leto and the dwarf, Jeff, from those days. The moments of pageantry, and that's when he finally
remembered her name.
It was Leto's wife, and all he could remember is that they called her "Nessa," not like Vanessa, but some other longer name he couldn't think of off the top of his head. When he called her it and asked about Leto and how things were and where she had been, the answers had been odd. Seemed she had some sort of amnesia or other head wound or sickness that prevented her from remembering all that it. It confused him a bit but he tried to be polite
about that and decided to just enjoy her company.
What he had found more odd, was that she seemed to only remember him and the dwarf, Jeff. He had to suppress a chuckle that a beautiful girl only remembered him and Jeff from the duels, he guessed that wasn't too bad of a way to be grouped with Jeff. They chatted a bit, mostly of a flirtatious sort when not talking about her past and what happened to her. In fact he found himself very much drawn to her, yet something buzzed at the back of his
mind.
It wasn't the fact this could be another man's wife, that had never stopped him before. Though there had been times he had to run off with barely his personal attire in his arms and his naked arse streaking through a chilly night to escape death for that liberal standard of lasses. It just seemed odd that he was sitting across the table, not because she was extremely pleasing to the eye and soft on the ears, from Nessa, it was because he could
remember this same women standing by her man's words against himself. When he had denounced Leto of Covington and the things he did, she had said a few nasty words about him publicly standing by her man. And yet he couldn't help but listen to her now as took the time to actually look at her for her and not for being Leto's wife.
Soon he wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying or much to the goings on around them, but more rather focused on her lips, wondering what they tasted like. He would soon thereafter find out surprisingly, and it was definitely a sweet taste to savor for another time, but he had to wonder. It was just all too odd, and he shortly thereafter excused himself not sure where his mind was on the whole thing. The idea of "sleeping with the
enemy" was all too real for a moment. But that was long past, things she didn't even remember about, and did so because she was with another who happened to be his "enemy." It wasn't even enemies, but rather rivals in the dueling community which can get pretty intense.
If he saw her again he would see what would happen then, for now he focused on his up coming baronial challenge to Daelin.
