Tourney Time Greets Us Again--Nov. WL Tourney
Date: 10/9/97 4:31 PM Pacific Standard Time
From: RDI Clo
The Time Has Come Again . . .. . The Quarterly Warlord's Tourney is upon us again, with all is usually challenges and rivalry and a new twist. The date for the tourney is now set for Monday and Tuesday, November 10th and 11th. The Place is, as usually since its opening, the Dueler's Basement Annex. Dueling shall commence as close to 9 p.m. by the eastern clock as possible, so early arrival and as well as early registration are imperative.A slighty new format will be used this time around to help eliminate some controversy as well as try to brinig out the best of the field for the prizes. This, the final quartly Warlord's Tourny held in 1997, will have up for grabs a shot at the Overlord, currently Lord Dalamar Ar'Daumon, without regard to peer wins, though no guarantee is in the rules that this prize will be without intercession. At this time, there are no Baronships open for the taking. The format for the tourney will be single elimination until but 4 remain. At that point, we will switch to a round-robin format. Score will be on win lose record only, except in the case of a tie, in which case the sum of the final scores will be tallied and the greatest margin of victor will determine the winner. To register, Just drop a note to RDI Clo stating your intent to participate. After reviewing the Standings, Clo will send a confirmation of entry (approximately a 4 day turn around). Only those duels recorded before or during the dueling weekend of October 30-November 2 will have bearing on your place in the seedings. The Rankings as listed in the Warlord's corner will be used for the initial pairings of the single elimination rounds. In the event of a tie in the WL Rankings, random dice rolls will be used to make the final placements.Any questions or comments, send them straight to RDI Clo. Do Not hassle Helix or any of the callers. Do not pass start. Do not collect $200. :)Yours in the Rings--~Cloriviere HarD'witch~Dueling OfficialTourney Organizer

As I read the rules, I don't see anything about it being intercession-free, should I say, test of worthiness-free. All I read is a challenge to the Overlord without regard to a Warlord's Peer wins. If I ha' misread, please except my immediate apologies. Otherwise, I feel Sir Clo is correct.

From the rules concernnig tournamentsThe winner has the right to challenge the Overlord directly, superseding any outstanding challenge. This challenge must be made within one week of the Tournament outcome. This challenge is not subject to the "Right of Challenge" and can not be denied for any reason and will follow the "Universal terms of Challenge" with regard to response and dueling date. That cover it?

It's Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200...
Not "Do Not Pass Start..."
Ad for the rules... well.. the rules are rules. There hasn't been an non-intersession free tournament since... oh ::Reads the Tournaments past:: Xeno, when he took "second" place i the Tournament of Rings. That is when he defeated both Siara and Mad, Mad Max to take over the Overlord posistion.
After that I believe there was controversy over that subject and that was when it was decieded that all of the Overlord shots were going to be Intersession Free. Unless I'm mistaken, that is how it went.

On Oct 9, Mrs. le Fay al'Tan asked
<<In the event that two or more people tie in the Round Robin portion of the Tourney, what will be used as a tie-breaker?>>
In the even of an all-around tie? I don't forsee that happening. . . .as I not so eloquently stated in the announcement of the tourney, if the Round Robin ends with 2 duelists with records of say 4-1-0, all the scores from those matches would be added for a grand total of points earned-points lost. Lost points subtracted from won points then gives that duel a point rating, if you will. The duelist with the highest point rating is then declared the
winner. If the point ratings are tied, we shall then throw in the variable of the number of rounds it took to win or to loose. This will be accomplished by simply adding the number of rounds for all 5 duels. The duelist with the fewest rounds dueled will be declared the winner.
No, in the event that there is still a tie after all this number crunching, I will demand a best of three duel to break the tie. In essence, a whole new tourney for the tied duelists. All that preceeds this best of three duel will be ignored. Then we shall have our winner of the tourney.
Yours in the rings (hoping all this made since)
