Retirement.

Greetings Duelers,

With my defeat at da hands of Eros DeBurgo, da time ta rest has arrived. A year and a half ago when I defeated Daegarth, my goal was ta oust one of Dalamar's renegades. Afterwards, however I sought greatly ta serve as senior baron fer DoS; turning down many chances ta challenge fer Overlord. My role has been as baron, longer dan any other rank, and I enjoy it greatly. However, after having reigned fer over a year continuously, having succeeded
in outlasting a truely grand group of 8 other barons, I have nothing left ta shoot fer. Defenses and lasting reigns never were a goal outside dat I sought seniority.

I retired once before based on circumstance, and shortly I returned full of life, now I fear it is from a lack of motivation. Perhaps DoS will change and I shall return dedicated as ever, but fer now I shall take a vacation; no doubt Summer has waited long enough fer me ta do so. She sure could use some more help with da twins at night.

As I use ta say every night as I left da arena...Duel well all and have fun.

::reads over the post with a heavy sigh::

Jeffrey,
You know how I feel about you. You're like my brother. You brought me here. You showed me the ropes. You're my best friend in all the DoS. I can't really believe it. I just hope that you will return, and soon. This place can *never* be the same without you. I just don't know what to say at all.... You're the best. Please don't go.

Sadly,
Philip Kardinal

Jeffery Oakenshield,

Truely an era has come to an end. I wish thee the best in thy travels. Perhaps once again Welsh Highlander and the Joker Dwarf will clash in the rings again. Till such time, peace and luck to thee and thy family.

Jeffy~

Like a drug, we keep coming back for more. I know you'll be back someday.

Until then, give Summer a big hug for me and be well.

Jeffy~~~

There's so much to say, and I have not the words to say it with. When I finally got the gumption to step into the ring, you and Summer where there... each of you smiling encouragement and support. I'll never forget Summer flashing the pink and then hooting when I won that first duel. Nor will I forget the feeling I had when I stepped victorious from the ring. I won't say I would still be a ring sitting wallflower if not for you and Summer that
night... I will say having friends there to support me made the first duel grand....

You've been a wonderful friend, Jeffy. I hope that you feel the need to return to the Arena soon, but if not, I know that Summer, Charlie and the twins will enjoy having you at home for awhile. Enjoy your rest away from here, Jeffy. Gods know you deserve it.

Jeff...

While I am sad to hear and read of yer retirement; I understand yer reasons. I'm glad to have gotten the chance to know ya, and I do consider you a good friend ( even if you are a drawf. ::drawing a smiley face here:: ) I hope again to match blades with ya someday ( soon, in fact. ) Wind to thy wings, hon. When ya return, come see me and we'll have a drink, if ya want. ::wrinkles her nose some at the thought of a dwarven ale::

-= Jaycy

She sighs, posting the note and slipping away.

He'll be back.
Everyone leaves. He will be missed while he is gone, of course.
However, he'll be back. Even if just for a night to say hi, everyone comes back too. At least once.

Alas . . .
As the dwarf vanishes into the sunset,
Departing this land of skill and might,
We remain rooted in our arena . . .
Rugged blademen who clash by night.

:::heaves a heavy sigh, wondering if its right to add her own words to the cork... then decides to, just not caring::::

Ye will be missed, e'en by those that nae knew ye. An inspiration ye were, in skill, integrity, an' fierce spirit.

From one who nae had the honour of knowin' ye, inside the ring, or out, we all shall be awaitin' yer return.
