A Baron's Thoughts

Overlord, Barons, Community,

I have several things to state within this letter, including my alignment to the new Overlord. I will start by answering a lot of questions. Yes, I do plan on challenging for Overlord. Many people have asked if I would, and a few have asked me too. Those that know me, know this has been a promise I have made for the last 11 months. I feel that the Overlord's skill is great indeed. One only needs to look at his challenge record to see that. Yet, in
my heart, I feel i would be the victor in the battle. I do not claim to be the best. I never talk down to any dueler, and sure as hell I will not talk bad about one. It will take a great injustice for me to lash out at a fellow warrior. Such was the case in the recent involvement with Methous. My heart told me what I felt must be done to remedy the situation. So I challenged him. I only wish I could have been able to step in before the ring was ever
destroyed. Yet, as a baron I have no immediate way to do so. I will always carry my staff into a battle, and let my skill do the talking. As I said, I will never claim to be the best, despite words thrown to me. I enter each duel, knowing full well that I may lose. Yet, within the loss I will learn. Above all, I have a desire to win. I thirst for the victory. That, with my dedication to preparation for duels, allows me to best my opponents. My life
is dueling. Some know, most don't, I get paid to duel within these halls. I have people who bet upon my matches, looking to make money, of which I get a cut. This is my sole way of earning a living. Those close know that my entire salary from the TDL went to the local orphans home. I believe that all kids who have no chance, should be given the chance. I was such a kid. I fought the odds, and my die hard attitude was formed. I would hope you all,
with your money, would contribute to a charity. There are many out there that need help. I live with what I can get by on. The rest goes to others. So I not only duel for myself, but those that need help within the world.

Why state all this? I believe that barons should be active. How else will people know what is going on? How else will people know the values of the Barons, so they may offer challenge? I hide behind nothing in my views. I will always put them out for the community to see. That has been my practice since I held the 6th. So, I state that I will be challenging Magnus should he still be Overlord after the Warlord Tourney. People know my ideas, know my
heart. I lay it on the line each and ever duel. If you find fault with me challenging for Overlord, then you have chance to take care of the situation. I will not spring this upon the community, to have those who do not see me fit complain. I know, there are those that dislike me. I will not hide. I know my skill, and my heart.

I will now say that I will be going renegade to the new Overlord. The simple reason is I will be challenging him. I wish to have nothing in front of me saying I wont. The Overlord and I agree on many issues. In fact many Council votes, we vote for the same options. Yet I feel we come about them in two separate ways. There is more than one way to get an answer. I also feel that at this point in history that I will be able to hold onto the crown, and
perhaps do some good for the community. I may never say I am the best, but I will do everything within the ring to prove it. I only wish to stop the revolving door that is going on right now. I feel that I may be able to hold on to it with a firm grasp.

Aspen reads a bit and nods to the idea of giving to a charity, it is a tax right off anyway and you can always use more of those with such a thriving business.

From now on I will be giving 50...no 100 gold lions to orphangages and churches.
Kick Magnus's arse and keep "Suz" from getting passed around so much, I am beginning to think she is deseased... As for the 6th, I won't allow the dishonor that stained the 8th happen again.

::Reads over the note quietly, scratching his head briefly before penning a quick note:

Avery: I have a great respect for ye as a dueler and as an honorable and good man. If this challenge does happen I wish ye luck.

Magnus: I also have great respect for ye and ye know that my support is completely with ye for this challenge should it happen. Win.
