"I find no honor or enhancement of skill within your reason. " You.
"That was utterly rude, if you think about it. " Me.
Actually, you said it.
Of course there is enhancement in skill in a challenge. Challenges produce experience.
Are you implying you won't gain any kind of enhancement through a challenge?
But, if you really get technical in what you said, it sounds like you're saying the better the reason, the more your skill grows. "I find no honor or enhancement of skill within your reason. "

You did not directly say Simini was easy, Tay, but where did your words come from? I believe Daryl said he has not dueled Simini before, hence he has not beaten her, hence he cannot tell if she is easy.
In fact, the only one making reference to her as an easy target, is you, and by your words, the only reason Daryl would bother challenging Simini is because he thinks she's easy.
What would make him think she's easy? In what way has he even hinted that he feels Simini to be an easy target? I recall speaking with Daryl, and he told me someone else whom he was thinking of challenging... I tell you what, this other dueler is quite skilled as well. If he were looking for easy targets, he wouldn't be looking for Simini or the other duelist to accomplish such.
But I'll restate my question, and I hope you will help me understand. In what way has Daryl said, or what is it about Simini, that considers her an easy target?

Well, Drake, I don't see you around the Arena often either. Could that just mean we are never there at the same time? After all, I am usually there each night the duels are active, and drop by on the days they are not either. So your saying I am not around the Arena often is utterly false. Just for clarification.
And as for not improving respect and attitude, well . . . I certainly do not attack people nor show disrespect in person or on these boards. I like to think of that as leading by example, and not pointing out by saying, "Look at me! I'm being nice and not saying anything unlike so and so!"
And I hope I don't offend Gnort here, but I see him as being nearly the same as me. As everything you wrote about him could be said for myself, in my eyes at least.
Enough tooting my own horn, though. I just felt I needed to say something once that I do try to lead by example and am quite active in the community and I attempt to show the utmost respect to everyone and to the duels, especially. I don't know what else I can do but what I've been doing for as long as I've held my ring.

Tis Ah dinna see thee oft in ta basement an' certes, Madame, thee do little 'er nothin' atall ta improve ta attitude or ta respect fer ta ancient sport yuirself.
Ast ta Simini givin' 'er time ta officiate, Madame, Simini be ta mos' experienced ' ta current officials wh' see ta th' duels. Jona,
While I may appear to be defending Daryl, I am also defending Simini. To be blunt, I don't like it when challenges like this take place, and it's between two people whom I respect.
In either case, I find the notion that Daryl challenged Simini for the sake of an easy win is not only a baseless accusation towards Daryl, but it is also an insult to Simini that the only reason someone would try to challenge her is because (ahem, Daryl thinks) she's an easy win. To be honest, I want to know why Daryl would think she is an easy win, especially since he has never dueled her before. It's like someone saying, "He's your friend
because he thinks you are rich."
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, my regret about this challenge is seeing one of them have to lose. I would like to wish Simini and Daryl a good duel, and I am sure it will be an interesting match.

G,
Ah need nae tell thee th' Ah hae nae need ta take such advice, tis ne'er hae Ah shown anna disrespect fer anna wh' hae danced in ta ring wi' me. Such canna be said 'o Madame Silvertree. Ast ta Madame Silvertree's capabilities ast an official, in 'er capacity ast Standin's Keeper, tis it canna be denied th' she hae shown 'pon more th' one occasion th' she hae done 'er job wi' less th' complete neutrality.
Baron Var,
Indeed, Ah am right disappointed in th' th' warlord Daryl seeks ta Sixth Ring fer nae anna other reason th' 'e dost wish ta 'prove' 'is skill. Tis if'n such be 'is claim th' only a duel fer title wouldst prove such, tis seemin' ta me th' lad be verra much less th' someone wh' mayest bring 'onor ta th' Sixth. Tis seemin' simply another case 'o a warlord wh' hae managed ta garner enow wins ta make an attempt ta hae 'is name scribed in ta 'istory.
Tis Ah suppose th' shouldst nae come ast anna surprise considerin' tis seemin' th' attitude 'o a growin' number 'o those wh' achieve ta rank.

Rix.
I did not say you were not often in the Arena. I said I did not see you often in the Arena.
I did not mean to imply that you were a bad example, or not a good example, and I appologize if I came across that way.
As for spending time in the Arena... I am more often in my office in the evenings and with my family during the day.
This is not to imply that things that keep you or anyone else away from the Arena are any less important... just what I do.

Drake,
You'll excuse me if I then ask what point you were trying to make with your earlier comments? They did come across as trying to say because you never saw me in the arena I was not a good example of what a baron should be. Why point out what you saw as faults in me, then proceed to point out what you see as good points in others?
Just curious,

Rix...
Again, I apologize. In my own personal opinion, I felt that Lupton was saying that both you and Simini make an equal contribution to the community was in error.
Again, it is not that you do not make a contribution. It is clear in retrospect that I should have been more precise, and I will endeavor to do so in the future.

::reads all the posts and shrugs::
Well, It looks like everyone wishes an explaination, so here it is.
::grabs a quill and ink, as well as a piece of paper and starts writing::
First...I do not think the Baroness and easy target, in fact I've told bot Cas and Var that I might not be able to best her in a match...I've never faced her...period. Another thing is this talk about I'm challenging her because she is at 7 WoL....Forget it. I didn't even know she was at 7 WoL until I read the post by Simini and then Stormi told me. There have been duelers like Ford Prefect, for example, that have proven 10 times over that your
record does NOT mean anything on your skill...so I never even bothered to look at her WoL.
Second...I knew when I challenged that pretty much everyone would be against me. The Patrons can think what they want of me, I do my best and you can't make everyone happy. I do have one question, but it is for Jona. This question being: Why do you hate me so much? I've done nothing so wrong to get such harsh words from anyone, esspecially you...And I have but one thing to say about your comments. At least I'm trying...to you I may be a dreg
and shouldn't even hold the rank of Warlord...but at least I'm trying to better myself within the Duel of Swords and not just sitting in there to cast a harsh tounge to anyone.
Third...I've never been a baron before...so How can anyone say that I am not good at it? How can one say that I can't match Baroness Simini's Riegn, or even surpass it? No one can say...you have to see it for your own eyes. I'm not saying that I will be as good or better than Simini....but you never know and you'll never find out unless you try.
::tacks it up on the board and walks away, ready for the next verbal bashing if it comes::

I so love it when Lupton comments on someone's asthestic and moral worth.
After all, he has so much room to talk.

I noted several times my lack of the qualities detailed in my original post.
It's a shame when someone cannot comprehend the simplest things.
