Challenges?

Something disturbs me. It seems like the fine art of the challenge match is dying out.
I think this whole cycle has seen maybe 3,maybe 4 challenges issued at most. A rundown:

*-Avery is a very popular Overlord. However, while popular Barons go months without challenge, popular Overlords usually still get challenged frequently. Yet, nothing. Oh, and yes I'm aware I had an opportunity.

1-Among established Warlords, Zafiroo hunting seemed like a newfound popular sport.
Now it seems the hunting season's over.

2-Not much comment here, as Cletus recently defended. Then again, I think everyone
should challenge Cletus as much as possible.

3-Four months after winning the Third, Unagi is unchallenged, and furthermore, whenever I hear of other Warlords talk about challenge plans, he's *never* on the list. I can understand this one, cause I think most WL are afraid of him.

4-Zen is also unchallenged. This after he has been very vocal about the fact he's leaving. Again.

5-Rix has been Baron for almost a year, and has had two challenges, one by a person whose character some would debate, and another whose character *everyone* would debate.

6-People complain about Daryl Kyle beating Simini. Yet not a damn thing is actually done about the alleged "problem".

7-I thought Zam would be challenged a week after winning the ring. He hasn't been for a *cycle*.

8- I'm working on it.

9-Unchallenged, but no surprise here, everyone loves G.

10-Six months, no challenges. Then again, people know Var will most likely rechallenge, and again, Var is fairly popular.

11-See Unagi.

12-No comment, since Dex just got it.

13-No comment, because as I write this, a challenge for it is about to go underway.

The Conclusion: No one wants to challenge.

Don't get me wrong. I like the present Council. I consider most of the current Barons my friends, and with the exception of a scant few undesirables, if any challenges are spurred by this, I hope the challenger loses. But challenge matches are the one thing that seems to excite this Community, to galvanize it. It is what sets the best above the rest to many.
To the newer Warlords of the Arena: The only thing that can contend with the exhiliration of winning a title is defending one. Challenges are also what allow politics to flow, and whether or not a few people like hearing this, politics are the blood of this sport. In short, I like challenges.

Let's see some more, people. Preferably at Cletus.

Cas, I understand your feeling, and the challenges will come in time. But I have to admit I would take how the arena is now over how it was with the red hot jumping overlord bean stage, as well as barony. In time, I am sure things will pick up a bit, but I wouldn't call for people to step up. Though I understand your view completely, so get a ring so I can challenge. J/KFAMILY=SANSSERIF>

My opinions on why there aren't any more challenges...

To the Baronial ranks, I think it's because a lot of the newer duelists don't want to get chewed out on the boards, because they really don't have a valid reason for challenging. Whether it's good or bad that they're not challenging I won't say for sure, but I do know that my two first challenges came at just about the earliest date possible.

As to why no one is challenging for Overlord, I think that many of the people so firmly behind dethroning Dalamar realized that the Overlord of the week club wasn't the same as Dal's reign had been, and now in Avery, I think they're allowing him to establish himself so the Arena as a whole might return to how it was during Dal's reign.

Not like I matter anymore, but those're my thoughts.

If so, that's sweet..but I'd appreciate seeing my name, however..I don't think it's necessarily true. Anyway, if that's not what you meant..elaborate some, I'd love to know what you think.

It's because I'm not currently a Warlord. Nothing personal to Zam, but I would have challenged for the Seventh way before now if I was. Also, Adonai hasn't been around for awhile..now that he's back (?) it may pick up.

Anyway, I'm still disheartened by not having my name there..everyone else had their name, do you really hate me that much?
