Results of the Challenge for the Second Baronial Ring

Last Wednesday I had the honor to witness and officiate the challenge match between Spike u'Shell Momus and the Baron Cletus Ganderfald, for the Second Baronial Ring of the Duel of Swords.

The lady dueled under the colors of forest green and tan, and is from the House of Valenwood. Adonai Uziel stood as her Second, and her old friend, the former Baron, AJay Bird, was her Lord of Honor.

The Baron dueled under the banner of his home country, Polaris. As his Second stood the Baron of the Eighth ring, Galin Taelca. He fought for the honor of his wife Arane and their son, Zenith.

Spike took first blood in this match, catching the Baron with a quick cut. (R1: FSS/HC, 1-0 Spike) However, she wasn't able to capitalize on him being off balance, and her defense went for naught as the Baron attempted a counter attack. (R2: SH/FCP, 1-0 Spike).

The third round was when it all began for Cletus, who scored five points in a row, four of them unanswered. Round three was the only time Spike would score again, as the two traded cuts. (R3: LC/HC, 2-1 Spike) Next, Cletus again sidestepped, and this time was given the full point positional advantage as Spike tried to block what didn't come, parrying. (R4: FSS/FLP, 2-2) In round five the lady again attempted defense, but the Baron's cut landed
over it to give him the lead. (R5: HC/FCP, 3-2 Cletus) The sixth round, he turned a parry which proved more effective, turning away the lady's attack. (R6: FCP/TH, 4-2 Cletus) One more round was all it took, Cletus' lunge swift and over the lower cut from Spike. (R7: TH/LC, 5-2 Cletus)

So in seven rounds, by a score of Five to Two, the Baron Cletus Ganderfald sucessfully defended his right to bear the Second Baronial Ring against the Warlady, Spike u'Shell Momus.
