The Lost & Found office...

In a rather large, rather new, black tower near the space-port, a trio of men in plain business suits met with a pair of scientists from their company's research division..."Second Quarter profits are at an all time high, and our sponsorship of the new orphanage has boosted our public image quite a bit." Said the man on the left side of the table."Since opening this branch office, we've been able to touch upon all kinds of new technologies. The people around here are suprisingly backwards in some ways, yet suprisingly advanced in others." Said the man on the right side of the table."Doctor Tenekawana, what were the results of the latest test on Subject Seventeen?" Asked the older man at the head of the table."Well sir, because of the zealousness of the mercenary troops hired by Mr. Nekkenwande," replied the doctor, nodding to the man on the right side of the table. "The entire building was so badly damaged that our people were unable to recover three of the bodies. Doctor Menendez, what were the results of your findings?"The younger doctor stood and opened his notebook. "According to my study of the three bodies that were recovered, Subject Seventeen is probably more powerful than our initial projections indicated. One of the men was killed by the complete removal of his head from his body... autopsy indicates that it was twisted off. Much like a strong man might snap a person's neck, Subject Seventeen literally snapped the man's head off." Nekkenwande wentwhite, horrified as the doctor continued. "The other to bodies that had been recovered were damaged in various places... all from claw damage. It appears that, as we expected, the Subject's latent psi abilities activated during the stress of battle, as the flak vests were no hinderance to the Subject's claws." Finished with his report, Doctor Mendez sat once more."So you see Director, Subject Seventeen is everything my department said it would be, and more." finished Doctor Tenekawana, sitting as well."I'm still not convinced Doctor." replied the Director. He turned to look at Nekkenwande. "Put a few men on survalience. The creature is distinctive enough that it shouldn't take even your men very long to find it. See if it's made any attachments to anyone." Then he looked back to Doctor Tenekawana. "Come up with another test for the Subject that can't be linked to us... and see if we can't manage to pull a few of the 'locals' into it. It would do us some good to see just what these people are capable of." After looking at each of them in turn, he gave a nod. "You're dismissed."As the men filed out of the conference room... many miles away, in an alley near the Red Dragon Inn, Maetel stirred restlessly in her sleep, disturbed by dark memories and the unfriendly smells of the city.
