Another Shiv Blade makes an appearance...

Casey sat, propped up by several pillows, in her room at the West Hotel, a gentle smile on her face as she looked at the little one in her arms. The young lady looked up at the wildmage, her eyes wide as her unfocused green gaze passed over the smiling face. Gabe, too, was resting on the bed, peeking over his mother at the latest addition to the family. He reached out, poking at the child's side, who in response
squirmed, letting out a low wail.

"Gabe," admonished his mother, "be gentle." For a moment he looked down, then back to the baby. He didn't so much understand her words as her tone, and again poked at the tiny one. With a sigh and pointing finger, Casey banished her son to the chair. "Go." He hung his head, crawling off the bed and onto the island seat in the sea of room.

Casey watched him a moment, sighing softly. Raising Gabe was proving to be quite challenging, and now she had another child? She shook her head, wondering how she was going to manage. All she could expect was this new child, her daughter, to be like her brother. She did love Gabe, with all her heart, but some days she just didn't know how to react.

For a time she was silent as the baby fed, watching her two children. Finally, after the baby finished and was burped, Casey smiled to her son, motioning him over. As he crawled onto the bed to peer at the half-asleep bundle in his mother's arms, the wildmage whispered, "Gabe, this is your sister."

He looked at Casey, then his sister, quiet. With a sad smile, she continued.

"Rebekah Shiv Blade."
