::He walks up to the boards, after thinking about if for weeks::Dear Lord Daegarth Mithmellon, This letter is written to issue a challenge for the 8th ring of the Duel of Swords. My reasons are simple, and none of them are meant to be personal, sir.I have been involved with this community for nearly a year, and I feel the time has come to test myself, and possibly yourself, for the right of the ring. Another reason, which may not be legitimate although true, is that I am worthy of such a challenge, that I might make my son proud, for this event has made him eager. Upon you accepting my challenge, I will wear the colors of my beloved wife's family, metallic silver and blue. My Lady of Honor, of course, shall be my wife, Noelle Medici-Giovanni. My second shall be my son, Noble Morgan Medici-Giovanni (Since he is too young to duel, he shall never intercede). Below are my peer wins. I eagerly await your response. Fridays and Sundays are bad nights for me, therefore I ask what time and place is good for you, and I will secure the caller. Respectfully, <s>± Var Medici-Giovanni::The crossed off tombstone "±" symbolizes his desire to preserve life::::The wins listed from smallest margins of points won, to the largest::Official Peer win # Date Caller Opponent Score # rounds 3 10-3-97 RDI Rogue Caliyah 5.5-4 11 6 10-12-97 RDI Ranger MyThyrdEye 5-3.5 10 2 10-3-97 RDI Rogue Moralitor 5.5-3 8 5 10-3-97 RDI Alais SteveLGlow 5-2 13 10 10-17-97 RDI Alais ZhangeFei 5.5-2.5 12 4 10-3-97 RDI Alais Skyler JC 5-2 10 9 10-17-97 RDI Scad Jakvaltrds 5-2 8 1 10-2-97 RDI Girvin Ulysses NS 5-0.5 11 6 10-9-97 RDI Mathia DukeUzieI 5.5-0.5 10 8 10-16-97 RDI Rogue Rix Favre 5-0 6Some extra Peer Wins (No particular order) 10-18-97 RDI Rogue TinyTopaz 5-4 12 10-19-97 RDI Ranger RAGNEROCK 5-4 7 10-23-97 RDI Rogue Arlingond 5-2 8 10-24-97 RDI Rogue GnrtDrgoon 5-2 10 10-25-97 RDI Rogue RangerBlue 5-3 11 10-25-97 RDI Bird Slider3407 5-3 10 10-30-97 RDI Mathia XxLucianxX 5.5-3 13

::Sighs and pens another small note:: By the way... after talking to someone, he said it might be appropriate to mention another reason why I chose you, Lord Daegarth, in the challenge. I wanted to challenge someone that I never dueled before, thus making it a true challenge, since neither of us know one another's strategy. I think we both can comfortably duel, knowing we will be on equal terms on that aspect. Again, I hope you accept this challenge. ::scrawls quickly beneath Var's note:::

This promises to be an interesting duel indeed. Do, please, decide on a date quickly so I may definately attend.

::Sighs and replies, feeling tired:: People of the DoS I regret that due to my personal faults, I have now lost my rank as warlord. I want to inform everyone now, and I want to apologize for the confusion. Lord Daegarth, I am sorry for causing this trouble. I hope that everyone understands that it is my fault only, as to why my challenge is now void. I do not want people to be pointing fingers anywhere, either, because this post is only to inform that I must pull back from my challenge. I also wanted to say one more thing, that did truly disappoint me. One individual told me, since I have gone 0-11-0, that I should retire. I am not mentioning names, for that's not the purpose of this post. The reason I did mention it, is to inform all who read it: "Never give up, no matter how low things get... Then look ahead to the future at what you should do, instead of looking behind to the past, thinking of what you should have done." Thank you, everyone for your time, and again I apologize for any trouble my now nulled challenge has caused. Sincerely, ± Var Medici-Giovanni::The crossed off tombstone "±" symbolizing his desire to preserve life::

::wanders by and reads the missive:::

Crimany sakes Var, I told you I wanted to duel you for the ring, not Daegarth. Oh well, I guess there is but one thing left to do.

Sword brothers and sisters of the Duel of Swords. For some reason, not truly known fully by even myself, I have the desire to join in the rich history of this grand realm we do so enjoy. This day, the 16th of the eleventh month in the year of our Lord, 1997. I do announce my challenge to the Baron of the 8th ring, of the Duel of Swords, Baron Daegarth Mithmellon.Lord Var has graciously resended his own challenge for this ring therefore clearing the way for mine own.All parties have been notified, the list of required wins has been forwarded, and I have naught but to await his response. You will not find your names tack up on the board like the hide of a punt beast, so you needn't look further. I look forward to this test and if my skills carry me through this, to wearing the ring as proudly as those that went before me. In the words of a great man, nuff said !

First, where in da rules does it say losin' yer rank makes a challenge void? I must have missed dat one Var.

Second, you don't have ta live up ta anyone elses standards...ever. You stop by da arena all da time. Ya call practice duels fer da newer duelers and warlords alike. Ya are a friend ta most, ta me at least, and should not worra over such matters.

Ya obviously wanted ta be baron, its a great feeling let me tell you, NO ONE should keep you from yer shot. I hope I don't find out who dis person dat told ya ta retire is, because I will wish ta have words with him, he is a utter fool, and quite frankly a jerk fer even telling you ta retire over merely a record. Your a great part of dis community Var and I do hope you stay around fer a spell longer.

::reads Jeff's reply::

Var, I would agree with Jeffrey on this matter. From what I have seen, DoS would be a better place with more like thee lad. Your more deserving than most my friend.

::trying not to offend his friend Var, an addendum is added to his message:::

Baron Mithmellon, fellow duelists.

In light of Jeffs point, I wish to make it clear to all parties.
Should Var indeed choose to press this challenge, I shall be content to step aside.
Respectfully,
Seamus

Seamus,

Though something might be going awry my friend, your honor shows through in the stance you just made. May you always be blessed in the arena my friend, for a fine example you set this day.

Sincerely,

Valmion
