How much time had passed was beyond PJ's comprehension.

The windowless room lent nothing to help her, no glimmering sunrises or the elongated shadows of a sunset to judge by. Her room (using the term loosely,) was spartan at the very best. The lack of portals was for her own protection, or so she was told. The cot was better than the floor, even with its lumps and squeaky springs. The basic necessities of life were all accounted for.

And that included meals. A young girl who introduced herself as Lily had been seeing to PJ's food. PJ watched the child warily as her cell was entered and exited by Lily. PJ noted that the entrance was well guarded, yet she pondered the potential for escape. She'd bide her time on that for a bit yet. And as for Lily, PJ wasn't quite ready to start asking questions.

PJ wasn't sure what she'd done to make Shakira go to such lengths. She couldn't help it if she didn't remember ever hitting on the woman. Try as she might, PJ just simply could not recall ever even seeing her before, much less making a pass at her. PJ thought for certain she'd remember something like that, no matter how much Green she had drank.

PJ sighed softly as she thought of Max. He was probably certain PJ had run off on him again. And why wouldn't he be? Its her pattern and what he was most afraid of. He'd admitted as much to her. If and when she ever got out of whatever hell this was, Max was likely to be on to better things. Who knows? Maybe it would be better for Max that way.

PJ flopped down on what she not-so-affectionately called the cot from hell and closed her eyes. Maybe she'd wake up to find it was all a bad dream.
