challenges, reminders and the diamond quest

It had been a very busy holiday and Rask was only now starting to get caught up on the paperwork. He went to the papers and saw a challenge to Matthew Simon from Jaycy.

Well, it had been awhile since Matt was challenged. No reason for this not to go through.

Another note from Layne asking about payment on the bar. Profit-sharing or something. It was getting more and more difficult to avoid that man.

Another challenge. Looks like Kheldar is challenging Kelli for her Opal. It had been a long time since two challenges had happened so close to each other. Well, no reason for this one not to go through.

He came across a paper reminding himself to send out Thanksgiving cards. Well, that didn't really work. He looked around for a better place in his office to post his reminders to himself. He would figure something out later.

Interesting. A third challenge. Looks like the holidays made some people get the challenge bug. Daelin was challenging Dizzy. Was that the first challenge she would face? Well, no reason for it not to go through.

Why wasn't the stack of papers getting any smaller? He found a note from Tareth promising to pay Rask for the damages to the Outback soon. That would be nice.

He was just about to throw the paper away when he noticed something written on the back of it. Unbelievable! Tareth was challenging Harris! That was what? Four out of five Opals? Crazy. Well, Harris hadn't defended in a long time, no reason for this not to go through.

Finally there started to be some progress with the papers. The desktop was actually visible in a few places now. Another note to himself, reminding him to look for a new place to put notes to himself. Something had to be done. Between notes to himself and Christmas bon ... the Christmas bonuses! He really had to send those out. He quickly wrote a short note to himself and tacked it to the wall behind him, after removing a note that reminded him
it was time for a Diamond Quest.

He immediately wrote out a notice.

It's that time of the year again and the best of the Outback will be gathering together this Sunday, January 16th to battle to see who will become the next Diamond. The starting time will be 9 p.m. by the eastern clock and there will be no regular dueling that evening.

The event will be double elimination. Please send your reservations to RDI Rask.

He put the notice in his pocket, to make sure it would be posted tonight. Fortunately there would be a copy of the notice in the standings. As long as he remembered to get the notice to the Standings Keeper. He took a brief moment to write out a note reminding him to do that.

Well, if that doesn't beat all! Another challenge. That big cat thing Maetel was challenging Tarl. Didn't Tarl just get challenged recently? Seemed like that guy was always defending the Opal. Rask looked over to his calendar, saw that it was long enough for Tarl to be challenged again. Well, it was strange, but no reason for it not to go through. Looked like everyone wanted the challenges to happen in the two days before the diamond quest.

Rask shook his head. Well, the Outback certainly had a history of strange coincidences.
