DUEL OF FISTS

Something evil in the Duel of Fists stirs. ~ Eli Grady

On the evening of the 26th day of the 9th month by the Eastern calendar I was sitting in the DoF watching a fairly good match when in came Dustin (Flavorless Gum). From his appearance and demeanor it could be readily noted he was in an agitated and unguarded state. Out of the clear blue sky he asked Janella (Jaded) if she would, at the next opportunity slit the throat of one Ariadne Angeles. I was absolutely shocked that an open threat of murder
would be aired publicly. So much so that I made sure that he was aware that I was there and that my Journal was recording the spoken word. Janella told him that she would not kill anyone in cold blood, in public and that she (Janella) was not his assassin.

This apparently sobered Dustin somewhat because he began attempting to cover his tracks. When he appeared to realize that he could not unsay that which has been said he resorted to threats against my person. I reminded him that the power of the press was such that it could not be threatened or intimidated. We exchanged a few words and then I left to take this tale of murder and conspiracy back to the editor.

The editor played the Journal to authenticate the spoken word and once he got over his shock promptly chastised me for stooping to such a low level as to bandy words with a obviously unbalanced person.

There you have it folks. If I were you Miss Ariadne Angeles I would take extraordinary steps to protect myself from this wild and dangerous man.

A copy of the scripted missive was forwarded to the Watch for their action. One can be reasonably sure that eventually they will capture Dustin and bring him to justice.

DUEL OF MAGIC

Nothing of great note has been observed or reported. The new Keepers are settling into their estates. Various alignments and realignments between the regular patrons, businesses, and groups is underway as people look to their advantages.

DUEL OF SWORDS

Competition for the baronial rings heats up as two matches are scheduled for the 4th day of the tenth month. Details as to time, location, and combatants can be found on the DoS boards.

The Overlord of the DoS has made no public announcements of note as yet. Once he does so we will attempt to inform the public.

EDITORIAL COLUMN ~ by Sylyim Fondor

I was accosted on the streets of our fair RhyDin by several unsavory characters the other day. Each of them unshaved, unbathed and smelling of cheap ale and wasted life. They attempted to intimidate me into changing the editorial policy of the paper to ignore the activities of certain self-styled important people. Well, fellow citizens I can assure you that the editorial policy is to expose to the light of day that which is corrupt and can not
stand the light of truth shining upon it.

The press shall not be silenced. The people of RhyDin have a right to know and we shall do all that is in our power to ensure that the truth has been made known to one and all. So for those who seek to muzzle the press you know not what you have done, but in times to come you shall surely learn.

GUILDS ~ by Garumph Fondor

The presence or absence of Guilds in and about the various venues in our fair city is a matter of the citizenry to decide. No one person, persons, or groups has the right to impose a Guild upon anyone, nor does any group have the right to attempt to foster unrest against a particular guild.

A guild called the Galladrim recently attempted to establish itself in the inner world and was promptly assaulted by various and sundry persons attempting to force it away. The Guild master of The Galadrim, one Irus of Masaca in our opinion showed great forbearance in not lodging a complaint against these people with the RhyDin City Council under the Freedom of Association Act.

Instead he has taken the high road and has withdrawn public attempts to solicit membership. We applaud him in this act of civic responsibility. For those who would attempt to curtail the activities of any group within the inner world we remind you that RhyDin is a city of light and progress which can and will defend the rights of all of its citizenry.

THE SOCIAL WHIRL by Evan Fondor

Mrs. Fon du Lac of the RhyDin du Lacs recently held her a garden party honoring the coming of age of her daughter Elespeth du Lac. The even was held in the RhyDin Opera House gardens. In attendance were the usual notables about town as well as the Deylon, son of the Baron de L'mercy who was the proud escort off Elespeth.

The even went very well with the musicians from the Royal Philharmonic providing a stately background to an afternoon of fun and festivity. The Whirling Devers a group well-noted for their spectacular dance choreography acted out the signal events of Elespeth in her past 16 years of life from birth to this present day.

The lucky Deylon then escorted the fair Elespeth to the ceremonial Arc of Love Triumphant and bestowed upon her the official 16th year kiss welcoming her into adulthood. After which the party adjourned. Welcome to adulthood fair Elespeth, may your future be bright.

The Baron Armand Knel-Fondor has returned from a summer at his estates in the wine country bringing back with him four caravans of summer wine which will surely be well received in the finer hostels and inns in RhyDin. The Baron said that the bandits and other groups seeking to wrest control of the high-road have been mostly routed by the vigorous armed patrols maintaining freedom of travel. He went on to say that they had only one skirmish of note
and that was easily handled by their own caravan guards. Welcome back Baron, we all look forward to the new wines.
