a sleepless night

After valiantly protecting the Outback Door (only for Matt to sell it off), Sarah found herself unable to get to sleep. So much was on her mind from the evening’s events. The door, however held her attention allowing her not one wink of sleep.

Lying in the bed awake, she replayed the night’s events and couldn’t help but drift into the other topic from her Shift: Dresses for the boys.

Okay so Tony already wore a dress on Tuesday, but that Pink and Red Muumuu Virginia secured did him *no* justice. So she was gonna have to do better!

As for Cory? Who knew why he requested a dress but he did so 2 dresses she would make!

In her insomnia, she got up and went to the back porch where her sewing materials resided and began to search through pile after pile of material, each had been secured for a specific purpose, such as the event earlier that week when she had the occasion to watch Dustin challenge for the Overlord. She was more than honored that he had asked her, a teammate to be his lady of honor for the match. (it didn’t matter that none of the formalities made
any sense to her, she just liked the attention) But most had not been formed into dresses, as she just hadn’t had the time with her new job and all.

"Some black stretch knit...hrm I wonder if there is enough here to fashion a size 14 dress?" She did often talk to herself when there was no one around to bounce ideas off of. She had become accustomed to her mind bouncing it back for her. "Well, Liet had wanted it to be *short* so this should do."

She put the pile of black material aside and continued her search. This next search would not be as easy. The girls, along with Cory himself had all agreed that a long flowing dress would suit him best. But long and flowing requires a lot of material and for his size, much more than she would have bought even for a long-flowing dress for herself!

She already knew which material would serve for the tube-top upper, that would be the sequined iridescent she had purchased just a few weeks ago. A beautiful midnight blue (nearly black) that shined with a purple-ish color at different angles. She had gotten it to make herself a handbag, but there was prolly enough to fit around Cory’s chest, of course not enough for the D-cup padding she had originally imagined.

Searching, searching she came across some flower-power material that would be enough, but it sure would not match with the upper’s material. Frustrated, she stacked all the material up and found herself cleaning the room of some dust and other clutter, a nervous habit of hers: cleaning.

She got quite caught up in the cleaning when she was fixing the sheer curtains that allowed just enough privacy while allowing the sunshine to brighten to room (wait! Sunshine? Had she been at it all night already?) She then began thinking, sizing up the window, making a mental note of the amount of fabric in her hands.

"It’s perfect! Midnight-blue upper with a white flowing skirt, why didn’t I think of this earlier?" she was talking to herself all the while getting a stool to elevated her enough to unhook the curtains and gather the material.

Her pile formed she realized she had a lot of work ahead of her so she must get some sleep and start hard at work once she was rested.

The three of them had left together. Tony and Cory with garment bags in tow, Sarah with her camera. They had to stop at Jamerson's Jels and More for some jello on the way. She couldn’t quite remember why, but Cory led the way so she followed.

At the jello store he bought a ton of Strawberry jello (after asking Sarah whether she’d prefer strawberry or lime). Then they were on their way to Cory’s place. He had mentioned that Meghan might like to see him in the evening gown, but Sarah preferred not to explain her coming home with him to Meghan.

The three were quite talkative the whole way home, discussing of all things jello.

"J-E-L-L-O!" Sarah again sang the jingle as they left the store.

The discussion, which occupied them all the way to their destination, revolved around the questions of "What exactly *is* jello made of", "*who* invented it" and "I wonder how *rich* that guy is now!". None of them knew the answers, but all of them contributed their "two cents" to the discussion.

Upon arriving at his place, Cory unlocked the door and allowed the two to enter before him. Sarah looked about taking in all the intricacies of his living room into which they had stepped.

"I’ll get this jello started, you two can wait here," Cory announced as he walked off toward a somewhat hidden hallway which would likely lead to the bedrooms and the bathroom.

Upon his return, Sarah seemed fidgety, "Okay, now lets see how those dresses fit!"

She was already helping Tony remove his from the bag and hold it up in front of him. "Hhmmm, I think it’s gonna be a perfect fit!" she said with a wink while handing him the dress. Once he'd taken it, she reached for the camera.

"Just go ahead and put them on, right here, don’t mind me or the camera, just act natural!" She spoke as if she were a true photographer. She had already loaded some film (of which there were several rolls in the camera bag) and was snapping away as Tony just eyed the dress, examining it.

The two were not being quick about this and she seemed to just relax and let them take their time as the objections rolled off their tongues.

"Cory...Could you remind me again why in hell we are doing this?" Tony remarked doing all he could to refrain from gagging as he examined the dress

"Remind you? I thought this was your idea. You were the one wanting to wear dresses in the first place. I jus' said that I would were a dress to see the other's reaction. Sarah seems to have gone overboard." Cory was mirroring Tony’s reaction to his own dress.

It seemed the dynamic duo were suddenly becoming shy. "Awwww, you two frightened by a 22 year old girl?" she was mocking them, yes. But they had agreed to this and she was not going to let them weasel their way out of this one.

Eventually after much time had passed, the two had struggled their way into their respective gowns. It seemed Tony fit into his just fine although the leg hair was not all that attractive below his short skirt. Sarah didn’t mind, she snapped away at her pictures, laughing the whole time. "That D-cup suits you! It’s almost like you’ve become the blonde-haired bimbo, you act like!" She had lost control of her ability to hold back, at this point,
anything and everything that came into her thoughts was vocalized.

She then turned to examine Cory in the more elegant long evening gown. His unfortunately did not fit as well as she had hoped. The flowing shear flowed a little too long and he tripped on the material as he was putting the dress on (Men: they would step into the dress instead of pulling it over their heads!). She was laughing so hard at the thump of him landing on the ground, she was afraid that the pictures would probably come out blurry from her
moving too much.

"Would you stop laughing a help me?!" Cory was rolling on the floor and quite agitated by now.

She probably would have helped him if she wasn’t high on laughter by then. Instead, she just continued to take the pictures as Tony helped Cory with his dress. They managed to find some safety-pins to pin up the extra material so that Cory would not end up rolling on the floor again and then the two seemed to get into their new roles as women.

Cory moved aside some furniture to set up a kind of runway and the two modeled their dresses with beautiful style. Fumbling of course, and all of them still laughing. By the time Sarah ran out of film, the men had tired out and were both sprawled out on the couch. The dresses had taken a beating, Tony’s was beginning to split at the seems as he was not accustomed to walking "lady-like" and the slit in the dress inched up his thighs. Cory’s
flowing skirt had torn in several places as he caught corners of furniture and the like.

When Sarah gave them permission, they were all too happy to strip out of their dresses with speed she had not witnessed from them even in the rings. The dresses, now with more damage, were hung on their hangers and into their respective garment bags by Sarah (the boys had simply piled them onto the floor).

The odd thing was, neither of them reclothed themselves. They simply sat in their undergarments. Sarah guessed because of the heat. Cory didn’t have AC and all the laughing and the dresses had made them both break out sweating.

Sarah then turned to Cory, "So, you think the jello has set yet?" giving him a wink along with her grin.

"uh, I don’t want to know what you are thinking Sarah!" Tony jutted in. And with that he fumbled with his clothes and was making his way to the door. "I think I’ve had enough fun for tonight eh?" He grabs the rest of his things (but not the dress) and scurries out into the Rhydin Streets.

Cory meanwhile just smiles to Sarah, "we can easily find out!"

She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but she knew it was no good. Imagine, all that laughing had the effect of alcohol on her. She was out of her mind and she was totally loving it. And with that, she allowed Cory to lead the way to the bathroom.

Upon entering the bathroom, Sarah and Cory found that the jello had not quite set...it was in a semi-set stage of pure slimyness.

"it’s not quite set Cory" Sarah announced as if it were not obvious to Cory.

"All the better!" Cory replied as he suddenly slipped out the door and closed it with her inside.

"What? Hey! What do you think you are doing?"

"Gonna get some sleep" He stated it simply enough and left her there to play with the jello or find her own way out.

She simply hrmphed and began poking at the jello. It bounced back a bit, but mostly just added a layer of icky sticky slime to her fingers.

So, defeated, she went to exit through the door only to find that he had locked her in. She then pounded at the door for a bit in a futile effort as he was not coming back to let her out.

Seeing as the only window was above the tub filled with jello, she determined this was his way of getting back for the dress episode.

She examined the situation and just *knew* this was gonna be comical, no matter how carefully she tried to escape free of being covered in jello.

Attempt to escape #1: Sarah climbs on the toilet (having put the lid down for Cory and muttering about men and seat covers). She lean over to try and reach the windowsill, her idea to jump to it once grabbing from a leaning position.

Result: Failure. In her effort to lean to catch the windowsill, she discovers that her arms are a bit shorter than she thought and she falls, her hands and arms falling into the jello and stopping only once her hands hit the bottom of the tub and some jello had splashed up on her face. (thankfully the camera did stay strapped around her and leaning on her back)

Attempt to escape #2: The Toilet bit not working so well, she wipes her hands and arms on the only towels that were there (they happen to be an off-white and the red dye did not do them much good as they are probably now stained for good.) So this next attempt would involved her propping herself up on the side of the tuba and attempting to step into the window and on out.

Result: Failure. Well see, the window didn’t exactly rise to a height that would allow her to stand in the window and as she stepped up, she discovered this fact and had to step back, her left foot ending up *in* the jello.

Attempt to escape #3: Okay so since she was basically covered in the goo already, she simply stepped in with her other leg, then climbed her way out, being sure to protect the camera and film attached to her back.

Result: Success!

Upon her exiting the bathroom from the window she landed on the ground rather nimbly for someone covered in jello. She glanced over her clothing then more importantly to the camera. Satisfied that it never touched the gooey jello she smiled and started down the walkway. As soon as she looked up she noticed Cory standing in her way. Arms crossed with a huge goofy grin on his face.

"Yanno, you look good covered in jello. I'm sure everyone else would enjoy it too."

At that moment, being the clever sneak he is. He produced a camera from his back pocket and took several quick snap shots of Sarah. All she could do was shriek and cover her face with her arms. Almost as soon as he started he had stopped, and she gave him this oh so angry glare. All he did in response to that glare was reach out and scoop a little speck jello from her cheek. He then pops his finger into his mouth.

"I never knew you could use jello like that. I'm sure Meghan will get one hell of a kick out of it." he chuckled "G'night Sarah."

He offered a sweet smile through her continuing glare then turned and walked back to his front door. Where he soon vanished inside.

Grumbling, she headed on home.
