Harris D'Artainian versus Xerzes Maureen
Fight for Possession of the Blue Opal, IceDancer

A boring Monday evening in the Outback was made a showcase for the latest fight for Opal possession. As a crowd of one looked on, the two combatants battled for over two hours, through rings and ice, just for the honor of having a piece of jewelry with weird powers.
The first match occurred in a plain ring, a hard fought seesaw fight that started out with Xerzes taking the first lead, and then relinquishing it to Harris for the remainder of the match. Though he was never more than a point behind and 5 of the 12 rounds of the first match had the fighters in a tie score, Xerzes just didn't have what it took to put Harris down. After allowing Harris to take a 4-3 lead in the ninth round on a miscued ridgehand,
Xerzes fought off two more attempts by Harris before finally succumbing in a brutal trading of straight jabs. Harris would end up with the win, 5-4.
The second match, out on the Ice Rink, was the quickest of the three matches, as Xerzes came out to a quick lead, allowed Harris to tie the score the very next round, and then Xerzes proceeded to rack up three straight points before allowing Harris to score again. By the end of the ninth round, Xerzes had a 5-2 win.
The third match returned to the plain canvas and ended up going another 12 rounds. Harris jumped out to a quick 3-1 lead after 3 rounds, but a progression of ill-timed moves would have Xerzes scoring the next three points. At the end of the 7th round, Xerzes had a 4-3 lead and seemed poised to rip the Opal from Harris's grasp. The eighth round only further solidified Xerzes's chance to win as he held a clear advantage going into the ninth round.
As the fighters grappled on the canvas, Xerzes was inches away from the winning score before he fell victim to a well-timed block from Harris. With the score tied 4-4 in the 10th round, both fighters would hold back during the 11th only to come out swinging hard in the 12th. Fortunately for Harris, his hard swing came only after he had made sure he was well away from Xerzes's line of fire - a counterattack against his opponent's straight jab would
insure that Harris would retain the Blue Opal for another day.

Final Results: Blue Opal def. Challenger 2-1 in 3 matches (5-4, 2-5, 5-4)
