Is it cursed?

Huma sat alone, in the history center. It was less than twenty-four hours untill he would be called to defend his ring for the third time. He sat, reading. Reading how Damien Cetran defended the ring three times, and how Lupton had done the same. He seen a pattern in the duels and how they were fought. A pettern that concerned him.
Huma stood and began to pace around the table, keeping his eyes on the history book of the fourth ring. He knows his skills haven't been the greatest lately, he was more inconsistant than anything, yet, he still felt that if anyone could break the curse, it would be him.
"Number three", was the whisper. "I'd best concentrate on number three, rather than four right now, else there won't be a fourth defense." Keeping his eyes trained on the book, Huma removed the ring from his finger, placing it on the table, next to the writings. An odd feeling came over him as he stood there silently. Huma understood this feeling completely, knowing exactly what it was. He spoke soft and clear, as if speaking to the ring itself,
"There is more at stake here than defending my title. For should I lose, the scales shall be tipped too far to one side." Huma scooped the ring up before he finished the last word, and slipped it over his finger, and smiled as the gold ring snugged itself in place.
Carefully closing the history book, Huma gently placed it back into the shelf where it belonged. He stood a moment, looking at all nine tombs. "I'll come back tomorrow, and personally write the history of my defense tomorrow should I win" he whispered as he turned for the door. With one last glance to the novels, Huma ducked out into the dark streets of RyDin for a long midnight run before heading home to Aja. The only thought in his mind...."Break
the curse".

Huma stepped from the arena, Aja supporting him, he had been succesful in his defense. But the victory was costly, a comback form three points behind, on top of a thirteen round duel, to which he was unnacustomed. Exhausted and wounded he limped home, to await the fourth challenge to his ring...the challenge no holder of the fourth had been able to defend against. he had repeated history, so far doing exactly what Lupton had done. One defense of five
to one, one at five to three, and one at five to four. Now, as history states, he shall lose a five to four. Or would he? The means of his wins were unlike the others before him. Exhausted he dropped into his easy chair at home as Aja helped him off with his boots, fussing to make sure he was comfortable. He sat back, watching the fire as he thought of words he had heard a day before.
"If anyone breaks the curse, it will be you Huma." Were Summer's words, echoing through his head.

::Never actually believed that there was a curse to the fouth Ring. Just knows what has already happened in the past with it and the numbers involved. If he had to choose a Ring to be named cursed, he would choose the fifth Ring, seemenly because no one can defend it that well, it's always being challenged for and because the incident with G'nort's awful, awful record while wearing it::

::knows the fifth ring IS cursed. Skyler wore it for all of a week and a half and lost about seven straight duels::
