Iain,
I know one way or another someone's going to jump down my throat, saying this is none of my business, but this was posted publicly, so it's everyone's business.
Evan's meaning well, by telling for us to try to be diplomatic. When I read these words, I sometimes wonder if they were meant to be hostile. He may feel a fight is coming, so he is making an effort to prevent more mudslinging from happening.
I have to say, I respect some of the things you do, but this is an exception. If Dal said that to Evan, you would be jumping down his throat saying how he is a mean Overlord. I'm sorry to say, but from my viewpoint, you seem to try to find a reason to make Dal look bad.
I think that if there IS any dispute over rules, then it is proper etiquette to contact the officials, instead of making assumptions.

Var:
When you actyally know me other than in passing, you can develop the fortitude to presume to state what I "would" say, or to speak to my intentions.
I have watched Evan interject himself into discussions recently with the sole purpose of stifling those discussions. In this particular instance, he started spouting that we needed to "stop fighting" when the discussion was already over.
"Evan's meaning well, trying to tell us to be diplomatic." He never said anything of the sort, Var. The equivalent of "all of you just shut up" is nothing even remotely similar to "gee, guys, can't we all get along?" Further, Evan's demonstrated a complete lack of understanding for or desire to partake in diplomacy - what foolishness causes you to make assumptions about his intent?
Lastly... an attempt to make Dalamar look bad? Is that a direct accusation against me, attacking my motives and implying that my intent here is dishonest? Do you remember the last time someone accused me of falsehood, Var? Don't you know any better by now?

Iain,
I, like you, observe actions and make safe assumptions. As you stated, you say that you have seen Evan interject discussions. Do YOU know Evan?
Maybe you don't know him, but you judge by actions, like me, and many others. I'm not saying who knows who better here, because that's not a valid argument. All I am stating is that Evan's at least trying to keep peace here, whether or not it seems the best way. If one were to say, "Don't fight anymore, or I'll do this..." would, at least, get everyone's attention. I think he could have said worse, so yes, he was being diplomatic.
And regarding you trying to make Dal look bad, was not an accusation, merely an observation. I read your writings on these boards, and the majority have:
A)involved Dal
B)spoken against Dal, or spoken against overlord policies that you think Dal has broken
I don't think it's fair to be threatening people on these boards, Iain. What you said to Evan, I think, was a minor threat, by stating you'd basically "drag him between the ropes and show him a lesson". Such threats are childish attempts to look tough, which is for little kids. Let's see what your reaction would be if Dal threatened anyone.
Please, it's a waste of time trying to read deeper in my words than how they are already stated. If you think retorting with threats and insults after misreading my words will get you anywhere, please think again. Honestly, I don't know if anyone agrees with me, or disagrees. With the majority of these people, I don't care, either.

<<Honestly, I don't know if anyone agrees with me, or disagrees. With the majority of these people, I don't care, either>>
Var, if that's the case, then why do you insist on continually posting? from hearsay that has reached me, nobody cares. So in essence, your just talking to hear your own voice, because the only other person who is listening is Iain.
Iain, I feel the same goes for you. you and Var are going back and forth in a childish manner of trying to get the last word. The originall topic of this thread has long been lost, I think you both should just drop it, or if you feel the need to pursue it, confront each other in the arena, or better yet, a ring. if not, use the mail system, please.
Evan, your no help either. Your intent from your post is unknown to me, you may have had good intentions, or you may not have. I have no idea. You've been around long enough to have seen what is happening, and should know these guys don't need you fueling thier fire.
For all, call me a hipocritt, say what you will about me, try put words in my mouth. I don't care. I have grown tired of seeing petty arguments on this boards dragged out over long periods of time just because somebody thinks they need the final word. Yes, I have done it from time to time too. Not nearly as much as others tho, and I am refraining from continuing. For everyone reading this, I will make my intentions clear. All I am trying to do, is
hopefully shed some light on what is going on. Myself, I am tired or seeing these dumb fights that never get solved, and nobody ever takes to the rings or into the mail system. What I am doing, is asking people to avoid this petty fighting. I am not incinuating anything else to anyone. If anyone takes offense to what I have said, then I fully appollogize for that. So, without furher delay, I'll shut up.

Huma,
If you don't like what you see, look somewhere else. Noone's forcing you to read Varn and Iain's letters. Unless there is a gun-toting-maniac out there, who is making duelists read arguments that they are not a part of and do not care about. In which case, I deeply apologize for my previous statements.

::Shrugs, thinking out loud::
As I said, I don't care about whether or not the majority agree, but unlike you, Huma... I post my thoughts not expecting everyone to agree with me. ::Chuckles:: And you must be listening, because you responded.
However, so I don't look like I'm trying to disrupt the boards, I'll be quiet ::Smirks:: I'll let Iain jump down your throat for asking him to be quiet.

Iain,
I was just geting a point across, Iain. If you have a problem with it, than so be it. All I stated was there was no need for this useless posting on the Overlord's rights. If you want to read them, than do so. And a happy world? ::dies laughing:: I would like to know where the hell you were raised if you belive that. Now all of this is wasted time and energy, even this post, execpt Dae's challenge, Overlords post to it and the time for the
challenge. Now Iain, I will not put another post on this matter but if you do have some thing to say, than try sending a letter, for this bickering is not worth the time of a post.
Var,
Thank you friend.

Var:
You have "read my writings," and you say the majority have "involved Dal" or "spoken against Dal."
I never spoke a word against Dalamar until he tested Evan, and my comments in opposition to Dalamar's policies, compared to the sum total of my "writings on this board," amount to approximately one page in "War and Peace."
The point is, Var, that you are adopting the asinine proposition that by deciding maybe Dalamar was right to test this particular Baron, despite my abhorrance toward the entire concept, I must be trying to make Dalamar look bad. In doing so, you are putting forward the thinly-veiled proposition that I am being deceitful.
And in closing, Var, my statement that I'll give Evan a good thrashing in the ring if he ever presumes to tell the whole of this sport what to do in that manner again is no more childish than this sniveling "Oh, everyone be nice and nobody be mean and let's all be friends" drivel.
Or is beating someone up in the ring now child abuse?

Iain,
Perhaps I shall rephrase... In your recent postings, the ones I have read while being here, it has appeared you are biased against Dal, because of your opinions. I respect Dal as an overlord and hold him in high regards as a friend. Perhaps this is why I speak such words for him, and such words against you.
But it makes me wonder... why weren't you so harsh on Huma when he basically told us to be quiet? Since I am making only assumptions here, I'm not standing by any of them, but I have a few reasons why I think this:
1) due to your behavior of throwing insults to others because they say something you don't like, it appears to me bullying Evan wouldn't put you in any bad position (from your perspective)
2) you think if you were to say the same words to Huma, that he would school you in the ring
3) it's your personality to save face with those whom you think will respect you.
Huma's right, you know; we should be quiet. Maybe it's just my personality to stand up for a friend when someone threatens him/her. Beating someone up in the ring wouldn't be child abuse, but making these macho public threats is childish.
Reiterating, I may have had disagreements with Huma in the past. When I mention Huma's name in this message, it's not to be a weapon. I am just stating that your behavior with people seem different, and in my point of view, that shows you're up to something.
No, I don't really care what the majority of the people in DoS think of me now... I used to, in all honesty. However, maybe it's certain people in the arena that have lowered the overall dignity. I'm not saying you, me, or anyone else... but we all know that the DoS was a lot different a year ago.

Var:
The reason I did not light into Huma was that he did NOT issue a demand that we shut up. He stated his opinion, and offered that it was a waste of energy.
As to your attempts to discern my obviously (to you, anyway) dark motivations:
I insult those who earn my contempt. Those I merely disagree with, I merely disagree with. You, among a host of others, are apparently unable to deduce the distinction between insult and disagreement.
I have no opinion on Huma's ability to school me in the ring or not. I've never faced him, nor in truth have I had the opportunity to see him duel often.
It has never been my personality to save face with those whom I think will respect me, Var, and you are bordering on mortal insult at this point. What respect I have in this community is precisely because I speak my mind without concern for other's like or dislike, and for you to suggest that I am merely currying favor shows nothing but your complete faiure to have ever learned the slightest thing about me.
You would do well to, perhaps, spend more time in pursuits more fruitful that psychoanalyzing me, because while watching you completely miss the mark as to my thinking carries a sort of morbid amusement, I think I'd take much greater pleasure in seeing you... oh, I don't know, learning to duel or something.
You're more than free to the last word, as I have no desire to prolong this any further. However, if you again respond with further impugning of my character, I will most certainly address it.
Oh, and go wash your hands.

I was just wondering, when did people *ever* get along and agree 100% in DoS?
Last I recall debate/arguing was more the life's blood of this sport than what happens in the rings.
And I would change that for all the tea in China.
