Outcome of challenge for the 11th

Barons and Baronesses of the Council,

This 5th day of June at 6:30pm I did appear in the Basement Annex at Baron Darkness' request to judge the outcome of two duels, to wit: Tom Evasion's challenge and Gnort Talanador's challenge, to be holder of the 11th ring.

Upon my arrival I wasted time collectin' the challengers' second and Lady information whilst waiting for the Baron's arrival. At 6:45 pm I did turn over a 15 minute hourglass and continued to wait until the sands of time had run their course. Alas, at 7:01pm and without havin' heard from Darkness, I was forced to declare the Baron in forfeit of 'is ring.

As per the rules of our sport, I turn this matter over to the Coucil to decide an outcome. I don't believe I need review what yer choices may be, but if I may, I'd like to add one. Bein' that there were two warlords in queue for this challenge, and in addition to the possibility of simply givin' the ring to Tom, I would also suggest that ye might consider havin' these two Warlords duel for the right to wear the 11th. Again, that is, if ye determine
that the Baron is no longer worthy.

The decision is yers. We will expect a decision by midnight, June 8th unless an extension is requested.

An interesting twist of events... a Renegade Baron requests for a que of challengers, two Warlords jump at the oppertunity, the match is set... the Baron never shows up. So... Either Tom win the Ring by forfiet or Gnort and Tom duel for the right to wear it. Which shall it be and how will it resolve?

An interesting story, to say the very least.

Before, he said that this is the second time Rand did this, but reconsidered the

This is the one who beat me out of the warlord's tournament, and he recieved the ring instead of me. I, personally, am quite displeased at the way the ring's being dishonored as such, by the first holder.

I'm not saying that I am perfect, but I can honestly picture myself treating the ring with more dignity.

Rand was a friend. I would never challenge a friend because of politics, except when I challenged Evan. That was because I didn't agree with him jumping to conclusions and challenging another friend of mine (Dal).

Call it paranoia, but I don't think Rand has, or ever had any inclination to keep the baronial ring for long. One may think I am cold speaking this way, when I called Rand a friend a while ago, but I don't think a friend would:

"beat his own friend in the warlord's tourney, not planning to keep the ring. Then trying to losethe ring by accepting a que of challengers. THEN dishonoring the ring itself by not attending the accepted challenges."



If he had no reason to keep a well earned prize, he shouldn't have participated in the tournament, or he should have passed the prize down to the runner up. I was quite happy for him, when he won the ring, but I see it was in vain. Tom, G, treat that ring well.

If anyone wants to hear my opinion, here it is....I think that if you take a Baron's ring, you should at least show up to defend it.

I am ashamed of you. I know I was out of the Tourney within the second round, but I still, ifn' I had gotten that ring, would have treated it respectfully. If you didn't want to keep that darned ring you should have said so! Or else showed up yesterday, I'm positive one of those two could have beaten you, no offense of course.

Shut yer yap. Tom has done a lot to become a Warlord. There was a good chance of him winning yesterday, Mr. I-Got-Zeroed-Out-of-the-Standings. So, next time, think before you insult.

Hmph..As has been said so many times over, Rand does nae treat the ring right,
after deserting it not once but twice it is clear. The 1st time twas understandable and the Council awarded him his ring back, but this time after inviting a que of challenge to take the ring from him it is more than obvious he did not intend to take the ring as a responsibility. Even though, like Var, Rand was and may still be my friend I don't think he deserves it if he's just gonna treat it like that. I know, from being one of Tom's good friends
that he thirsts for this title, And G needless to say is also a prime choice for the 11th, after holding a ring twice and being one of the more elder Warlords, he has proven himself many times over, even though we jokingly call each other incompetent among other things.

Also, I have another adress, Ace I suggest ye shut your mouth before one of us does it for you, Tom has clawed his way to the warlord rank and ye are but a Commoner, whom like Lily said is standingless as of now...I've beaten ye before Ace..and the next time ye run yer bloody nose aground in my friends honor, I'll be back to beat ye again, and this time for all times.

After much turmoil as I have said, It is my firm believe that after not only deserting the ring, but his title, Rand has proven, wether deliberatly or not, that he does nae deserve both the ring and the title. Tom and G, my utmost respected friends and soon to be peers, AGAIN, fight well, for I believe ye both deserve it and through that conclusion...MAY THE BEST MAN WIN.

First of all, we shall as well wait to hear from Baron Darkness for his answer in response to why he did not show up to defend his ring, before we completetly past judgement on his character of being. He may have some legimate excuses, perhaps not, and the issue of the ring does need to be settled soon.



Without doubt I believe Baron Darkness should lose his ring unless he is heard from immediatetly with legimate purpose for his absence as befits the Council and DoS Coordinator. The idea of letting Warlords Tom and Gnort duel for the right to wear the ring of the 11th as well an excellent idea. However, though I am not opposed to the idea, I would like to point out one thing about that idea. Tom and Gnort challenged Darkness after he invited
them to challenge them for his que to prove himself. Tom and Gnort seemed not interested in challenging for other reasons and to my knowledge wouldn't otherwise challenge each other for a ring. IMHO, Baronial challenges, including Overlord, should have some depth, perhaps some history between the duelers involved in either friendly or other rivalries to keep the spirit of the rings vibrant. Personally, I would find the duel between the two of them
somewhat stale in exictment, except for perhaps watching for the simple skill of blade. Perhaps this would be a chance for Tom and Gnort to get a hopefully friendly rivalry going or something if that comes to be that they duel for the 11th ring.



Another idea is that simply the title of the 11th Baron remain vacant for the next Warlord's Tourney. A Baron's ring always makes for an excellent goal if one does not desire to have challenges for Overlord. While some might say it's better not to leave the title vacant, I think this may be a good case for letting it happen. Not denouncing the worthiness of either Tom or Gnort, but I think leaving it vacant would be a reminder to the DoS
Community of what has happened and that it's no so easy to get one when people treat the titles so. I am being somewhat bias and selfish as well because I have not much interest in me myself being involved in a challenge unless I am defending something I earned as a prize. Hence, Tournements is how I hope to achieve titles in this Arena.



My view is simple in that if the ring of the 11th was declared forfiet from Darkness and to remain vacant until filled as a Tourney prize I think it would be perhaps the best for the DoS Community at large. So that when people ask why, they will be told that someone, Darkness, abandoned it when he asked to defend it from as many as would come. And that many people were upset at how the title had been so disrespected. Hopefully, duelers will
reflect on this and while they see the empty vacant title they will be reminded until the time when everyone could battle for it in a tourney to set it to rights. Hopefully, the dueler who wins the prize the next tourney after besting a majority of his peers in a couple of nights will wear it more proudly and wear it with the respect it's due. I know I would, or at least as best I could in my opinion of what I feel it deserves.



However, I am not a Baron on the council, and if they decide on whatever course, I hope at least the intent of my purpose of the vacancy idea gets through anyway. I hope when the Council decides they do the best thing for the community and for the title, and not so much for the duelers involved, again no disrespted intended at either Warlords Tom or Gnort, or even Baron Darkness.
