"Do you think...?"(RDI Rogue)
From: rdirogue@aol.com (RDI Rogue)

Bridgette rolled up the last t-shirt in her locker before closing it,
she would be leaving tonight. This place had complicated her life
more than she could have thought.
When she took over "temporarily" for Ellisa Morgan, she thought
it would be just that; but that wench of a woman left her stuck with
it. Alright, so she liked it; the people, the place, the fast-pace and
there was always Nevada. Damn, she was going to miss him.
Hubie peeked his head in then called out,"Bridgers, you coming
out soon?"
She sighed and picked up her few belongings, "Do you think
they'll miss me?"
"'course.", short, sweet and what she needed to hear.
She waited until he left before wandering out into the arena, the
place seemed so peaceful and quiet, not at all what she was used
to seeing.
"I'll miss you."
Her whisper seemed to echo in every nook and cranny of the
cavern then die to silence, somehow... that was fitting.

Rogue,
Ya will be sorely missed, the time and assistance ya have offered to the patrons of the duel are well noted. Be well and take care; thank ya for a friendly smile and a welcomed feeling ya gave to all in the Arena.

The door to the locker room opened slowly so as to keep the creak from the hinges as silent as possible. Dillon didn't want to announce his presence before he was ready. It had been a long time since he had seen Bridgette and since he hadn't found her outside this was last place she could be. Quietly he set foot into the room carefully closing the door behind him. In his mind he went over the excuse he would use if he were to be caught.
"The figure on the door has a kilt on, I have a kilt on. And I'm a laddie and the door says ladies. So I came in to tell someone the door is misspelled."
Scanning the lockers as he went he went it wasn't long before he found Bridgette's. After knocking softly on the locker door he whispered, "Bridgette, I know you're in there. Come on out. All the callers are queuing up to thwap Zamhulam or at least what's left of him after Helix is done with 'im. Want me to put you're name at the top of the list? I'll put you in before Gryphn." and as he finished he opened the door, half expecting a cream
pie or a water balloon to greet him.
What he found was what he didn't expect. The locker was empty. From corner to corner empty. Unbelieving what his eyes were seeing, his hand reached up and into the locker in hopes of destroying the myth that she was gone. It was to no avail as his fingers touched back of the locker. His head slumped forward as he realized, She was gone...
"Where did ya go Bridgette, and why? What about..." startling himself as his voice broke the silence of the locker room. Glancing around he remembered where he was and decided this was not the place to be asking or answering questions. The questions echoed through his mind along with the thoughts of her. Those thoughts continued to echo long after the echoes of his footsteps had died in the arena.

It wasn't until she was nearly home that she realized that the note
she had written for Nevada was still neatly tucked in a compartment
of her backpack. The soft curse the revelation illicited caused the
man in the pilot's seat next to her to turn his head.
"Something amiss on the scanners, Bridgers?", his eyes were a
startling blue and the lines around them came from years of smiles
and frowns. His voice held a deep timbre and his chesnut colored
hair was pulled back into a ponytail and held by a black cord.
"No, I just.. forgot something back in Rhydin.", she turned her
face away so that he couldn't see the imprint of true distress on her
features.
"Much more has happened since the last time we spoke than you
let on, hmm?", he spoke in a friendly jibbing fashion.
She nearly spoke words in anger, not at him but herself, but instead
settled for a simple,"There's always more to my stories than can be
told at one sitting. When does our shift end tonight?".
She adjusted the view on the consul to show her the path they were
taking; assuring herself that the trajectory had not been overly effected
by the unmapped moon, the gravity pull had been minimal and she didn't
expect any problems, but it gave her something to do as she felt his
gaze linger on her.
"Twenty three hundred hours, a drink after then?", Prath sensed some-
thing was edging at her concentration, something that she needed an ear
to relieve herself of and that was his offer.
"Yeah, I think so.". With those words she went back to monitoring
the other systems on the ship, a cursory diagnosis of everything to wile
away the minutes until the clock flashed twenty three hundred hours.
