Subject: Why do they call it a *Challenge* when the guy's no match for me?

Allright... time for the challenge game!

There are 13 Barons and 1 Overlord... which one will I challenge?

If you don't know who it is that is baron these days, let me fill you in on what and who is where.

Ring #1: Seamus
Ring #2: AJ
Ring #3: Sartan
Ring #4: Zen
Ring #5: Nameless Guy
Ring #6: Shivery
Ring #7: Perry
Ring #8: Stumpy Dumplings (Jeff)
Ring #9: Topaz
Ring #10: Varro
Ring #11: Viod of Life
Ring #12: Rolly Polly (Roland)
Ring #13: Some guy named Cassius
Overload: Dalebar

Allright. Place your bets now (At least mentally pick, it's all fun)

Turn the page when you've guessed ((IOW, scroll down))

Allright, lets start picking them off one by one.

Seamus, nailed me good the only time we've fought... he can keep his ring.

AJ, never fought him, I doubt he's good out of challenge matches but he's good in them. If he got lucky enough to beat me in one, I don't want my name in his over-extended list of people he's beaten.

Sartan, who knows if he'll even have a ring later... he's taken.

Zen, I've nailed him good twice out of the three we've fought, beat Huma nicely, a bit better than I did... but he's never held a ring for too long. I like easy targets... he's a possibility.

Nameless guy, Why? He's too quiet to shout at, he's too mysteries to care about, and hes not around enough to take a good measure of poundings to and from. No reason, no desire, no cares.

Shivery, Allright, this guy's skill earned a piece of my respect. Ran up the ranks like a crazed demon, nailed Addena, whom everyone claimes to be so great, then in turn whips me around twice. Besides, I already told him I wouldn't, so I gotta keep my word. He just needs to give up the veil of honor he hides under... but besides that, he's allright.

Perry, who the hell is this guy? Second in failed challenges only to Luppy, then manages to snatch Add On A I's ring after Add On A I failed to take the Overload. Another possibility.

Jeffy, I got him the last time we fought, but a Stump can stay a Stump... no reason to cut it down any further.

Topaz, Luppy's gone after another one.

Varro, who's to say? Another guy who's tried time and time again to get a stupid ring, then takes it from some guy who people know was not good in defence matchs. Third possibily.

Darkness, woops... we all know what happened there, don't we?

Rolly Polly, orignally, he was my target, but damn Phil to the nine stages of hellish tormented suffering for beating me to him. Rolly's a nice kid anyhow, he just needs his noggin bounced around a few times.

Cassius, who?

Dally Mally, well, Dal and I've had our problems, havn't we? He don't like me and I think he's a organless corward. This guy wouldn't even fight me the first time we met... and only fought me once because "There's no one else"... guess who won boys and girls? Wrong, not Dally. But, what's keeping me from thromping him? The fact that he just beat Randy, give him a break, and I couldn't do it if I wanted to. Besides, the Baron history section has
better write-up's.

So, that leaves Zen, Varro, and Perry.

And after carefull thought and a couple fliped coins, fate has brought me to pick on Zen. So, lets go to the official part.

Zen Rising,

I am challenging you for your ring. If you don't know why, read the above. If you still don't know...

You can do all the arrangements, we could duel on Twilight Island for all I care.

So, here is twenty three Peer Wins, it's my guess that at least ten of them will be right. You will notice that you are in there somewhere. It should also be pointed out that only four of these twenty three are 5-4 matches, take that as you like it.

Send notice once you know what's what.

Allright, allright...

before you pounce on me like a starved couger in the middle of the tundra... someone has been nice enough, who will remain as nameless as Dueler, to tell me the Commander Zen had already been challenged.

So, I took it back so I can save my work for a later time.

Constructive and Demolitious... if you can understand that, you're insane.

Anguish

Agrenish,

Before you ask us not to "pounce on me like a starved couger in the middle of the tundra..." mayhap you should take a good look at what you've done of late, aye?

Two challenges, both withdrawn within weeks of each other? I will not mention the insults hurl all over since you aren't the only guilty of it. I will be polite and not bring up the names of the guilty parties. Perhaps it's time you started thinking before you put your pen and mouth into operation.

Regards,

I agree with Lily here. I mean, it's no big deal that he challenged and had to withdraw it. I think this is a different scenario than others, since he only would've known about the other challenge had he read the boards, and I don't know how much time he would've had between the post and his issuing of the challenge.

My question is, why have I been challenged three times in less than a month? There are eight other barons available to be challenged, and five of them have not been challenged since they obtained their current ring-- and only one has been challenged more than once. I'm somewhat curious why this is. True, I know why two of you challenged me, but I don't know how Krollon settled upon me as the one to challenge. I wonder if it's just a coincidence
that I happened to
a)Hold someone's ring he wanted back
b)Be thought of as easily defeatable by one person who said as much
c)Be selected randomly to be challenged

I don't know if it's a coincidence or not. But I think it's an interesting point, and if nothing else, gives an interesting look into how much luck plays into this.

Baron Zen...

It's your shoes... they're just so rediculous looking... How could anyone -not- challenge you?

P.S.... That's a joke.

Drake,

I don't WEAR shoes! Ha ha!

Seriously, I thought about this for a while, and I was disappointed at first over the challenges, but now I think it's kind of funny.

Zen

(P.S. In all seriousness, I wear shoes.)

Zen,

Curious as to why I challenged you huh? Well, let me enlighten you.
1) I'm not about to challenge Dalamar. First, I've only ever beaten him once out of about a dozen times. And second, I don't want to be Overlord.
2) AJ is a close friend of mine. He is to best man at my wedding and is on my TDL team.
3) I've known Jeff since way back in the day. And I feel he is the type of Baron we need more of these days.
4) As for Seamus, again, known him since way back. He's also one of those good baron types a just mentioned.
5) Roland wears his ring well, and besides he's done a heck of a job in the past few cycles.
6) Perri..... hmmm.... if there'd been anyone else I would have challenged, this'd be the man. But he's spoken for.
7) Var is again someone I've known for a very long time. I may not agree with him all the time, but he's a good baron in my book.
8) Sartan...in process of being challenged, and I've never dueled him.
9) Avery? Well, I have reasons for not challenging Avery. Mainly, he's close to the duelling house I am involved with. No sense causing undue stress.
10) Cassius... never duelled him. And not about to have my first match against him be a challenge match.
11) The nameless one? Same as Cassius.
12) Tiny Topaz? Get serious. She's my fiance.

So, Zen, that leaves you. A man I've dueled before and won as many as I've lost. Pretty even odds if you ask me. It's not political, it's not bad blood. It's pure statistics.
Hope that helps.

Simply,

Krollon

Well, nothing to do but get ready for the duel now.

He withdrew the challenge. He withdrew because Krollon beat him to the punch. The only problem that I see is that Agrenish spent all that time writing about who he was going to challenge for nothing.

Jeff,

Oh, I plan to have fun doing it. I just think someone should let a few of the unchallenged barons in on the action, so they can know how much fun it really is.
