Madame Elgarette
Thee state, "My disagreement with the use of the Test by the former Overlord, Leto of Covington, was that he used it more of an indiscriminate way of getting rid of his enemies, rather than an actual belief that his challenger was unworthy of being an Overlord. While I have not always agreed with Dal's use of the Test, there have been times when I've seen ample reason to test the challenger at hand. Every situation is different, and I strongly
disagree with those people who want it in black and white, those who want the Test to never be used, in any circumstance."
Madame Elgarette, M'lord Leto of Covington, the first to accept the offer of a best of three, an offer made unto him by the Lady Alais d Nitesong Sidhe, I might add, didst "Test" Elijah. Siera of Redwyn didst also "Test" Elijah. Yet thee nae castigated Siera then nor dost castigate her memory now for doing such. M'Lord Leto of Covington did, at the behest of his Loyal Baron, Jeffrey Oakenshield, permit the intercession by the Baron against Lupton.
M'lord Leto of Covington then didst face M'lord Kalamere Ar'Din, he that wast the winner of the warlord's tourney.
I should hardly call that indiscriminate. Indeed, ast to removing "enemies", what better way to accomplish it?
Tis then thee state "Every situation is different, and I strongly disagree with those who want it in black and white, those who want the Test to never be used, under any circumstances."
Tis seeming yuir stance be a matter of who dost choose to exercise the right of the Overlord to administer the Test and nae a matter of to whom the Test be administered.
Tis a wee doubtful ye shall find manna what wouldst hae held either Elijah or Lupton worthy to wear the mantle, though both be accomplished duelist. What comes of the day when Elijah mayest seek Dalamar's title? Wilt thou stand ast firmly and stridently against Lord Dalamar ast thou didst against Leto of Covington? Tis an interesting thing to contemplate, neh?

For clarification,
The duelist known as Elijah or Ecore has already challenged Dalamar and was tested.
From the official histories:
"One month later, Dalamar faced his first challenge, from long-standing Warlord and thrice-Baron Elijah. Dal chose to test the Warlord, and Jeffery Oakenshield took to the ring on the Overlord's behalf. But Lupton, Renegade Baron of the 4th, interceeded on behalf of the challenger and friend. In 10 rounds Lupton won out against Jeff 5-3, and Elijah stepped foreward to face the Overlord."

Colleen Lasher,
Thou might wish to peruse the date of the current standings list against the date they didst actually appear. Thou mayest find that M'Lord Evermeadow dost use the date of the end of the sevenday in which the duels didst take place and nae the date he dost make them available to the community.
Informatively,
Jona.

Okay, my turn cause I'm tired of hearing all this crap.
Jona,
For the standings, Golden uses the Final Day of teh Dueling weekend to say the last time a dueler dueled.
Golden does Not use the actual date that that duelist faced an opponent.
If you were to look on teh current standings and results, it would say that I dueled on teh 18th, when in fact, I had not dueled a long time before that.
Just because the standings have a date after the name does Not mean that a person actually dueled on that day. All it means is that the person actually dueled in that Week. The Date is the closing date of the weeks duels. Nothing else.

Jona..
In the month of October standings were dated as follows:
Oct 22, 1998 - Thursday
Oct 14, 1998 - Wednesday
Oct 6, 1998 - Tuesday
Quite simply where do you see a seven day period here?
Oct 6 -14 is 8 days and 14 - 22, also eight days. To follow your theory unless I misunderstand, all standings theoretically should be put up for viewing on Monday, with which sixth days to duel is the seventh day in a dueling week.
If you look carefully there is no specific day of the week that these are posted.
The month of September is listed as follows:
Sept 2, 1998, Wednesday
Sept 8, 1998 Tuesday - 6 day spread
Sept 18, 1998 Friday - 10 day spread
Sept 24, 1998 Thursday - 6 day spread
Sept 30, 1998 Wednesday - 6 day spread
again, not a seven day pattern as you state.
Once again... I quote from the standings that are marked October 6, 1998... "Standings for the weekend ending 10/04/98." I ask you once again... if you do not dispute Goldendust Evermeadow's record keeping, how would a duel fought on the Tuesday, the sixth day, appear in standings that he notes as having closed on Sunday, the fourth day.
You might also care to note that the latest date on any standings list is the date noted on any of the lists is the date noted at the top of the page. For instance.. the highest date on the September 18,1998 standings is September 18, 1998 even though the dueling period for those standings is noted as ending 9/13/98.
I still await your explanation on your claim that a duel showing Jaycynda Ashleana dueling on October 6, 1998, was recorded in the standing marked as such that specifically states, "Standings for the weekend ending 10/04/98." Until you have an answer to that and where you can find in writing to dispute when the standings are actually posted as opposed to the date noted upon them, kindly cease to say anymore on the issue to me.
Awaiting the imparting of proof on the issue,
Colleen Lasher

Indeed, tis ast thou state. The point is this. Madame Ashleana didst present her challenge before the standings were made public ast is required by the rules of engagement. She dost state her servant didst then seek to have that long standing rule set aside. A rule, I might add, that hast been applied to invalidate challenges presented by less prominent personages. Tis M'lord Evermeadow himself didst place upon this very corkboard a clear
and concise reiteration of what didst constitute a valid and proper challenge.
Respectfully,
Jona.

Colleen,
Tis verra simple. Do take the time to peruse the current standings information. Thou shalt notice mention of Lord Dalamar's most recent challenge. Tis I wast present at said challenge. The event didst nae conclude until after the witching hour. Tis I dinna believe M'Lord Evermeadow ist clairvoyant, yet the information with respect to that challenge ist contained in the standings, therefore, though the date be the eighteen day of the eleventh
moon 'pon the list, they were nae nor could they have been made "public" 'pon that day.
Informatively,
Jona.

Jonalyn~
I do remember also stating that I do not agree with every Test Dal places upon his challengers. Placing my words in context the next time you try to prove me wrong might work better to keep the Community abrest of the facts, rather than giving them a twisted sense of what I have written.
You say, "Indeed, ast to removing "enemies", what better way to accomplish it?" I will tell you this. A Test of Worthiness is just that, a way for the Overlord to express the fact that he/she does not feel the Challenger is worthy of being Overlord. It is not, however, a tool to be used to get rid of your political (and sometimes personal) enemies. Leto, in my opinion, did just that, which is a big reason why I was celebrating when he
was removed from his position.
On to the subject of Elijah. Starting the year or so before and during Leto's reign as Overlord, Elijah was never more worthy to be Overlord. From then on, I have never, no not even with Dalamar, ever agreed with Testing him. I will say it again, for clarity: I have not always agreed with every Test Dalamar has administered.
Once again, you say, "Tis seeming yuir stance be a matter of who dost choose to exercise the right of the Overlord to administer the Test and nae a matter of to whom the Test be administered." No, that is wrong, and my above statements, especially the one in bold print, proves that fact.
If the day comes that Elijah comes to seek Dal's title, I would, as I have always done, think it over. As I have said before, it is not a black and white matter. Every situation is different.
Yes, it is an interesting thing to contemplate.

Why is it, in these dark times, that the honor of a decent and true Baroness come in to question? Why?
Jaycy, know that there are certain, unpolitical Warlords that respect ye despite the words of certain unnamed detractors.

Reading the words from Shadow, the gypsy bows her head a moment, then reaches for pen and paper, to respond. After a moment, she shakes her head, unable to fully express her gratitude at the words he wrote. Unwilling to simply walk away, she pens a short note, and tacks it up.
Shadow...
Simply... thank you.

With a bit of a smile, she steps away from the boards, her spirits lifted somewhat.
