I am fairly new to all this, but I have been reading much of the stuff written on this cork board. This is only my opinion and you may say anything you wish against it, but, here goes. I think that the holder of the ring should be experienced in the dueling ways, yes, but he or she must also be ready for all the responsibilities that come with such a title. If you cannot keep the rank of Warlord, then I don't think you should be put down for it.
If you are challenged and win, then the title is still yours, is it not? I think the main focus behind the titles of Baron are not record, but experience (not the WoL or record type) and responsibility.

My blood-brother though ye be, I disagree with you on this...Time spent in the rings counts, but skill is the main factor. If someone believes they have the skill to challenge, they should do so...Tenure can become a dangerous thing. In regards to Ford Prefect,
He was a consistent dueler with a descent record who had been here a little while when he attained the rank of Baron. It was during his lengthy Barony in which he defended his ring himself numerous times constistantly that he hit a slump in regular dueling and dropped below his 15 WoL to actually once be zeroed out to 0 : 0 : 0 as a Baron. Ford Prefect recognized as a Baron he should show a better image of skill and saught help from another
veteran duelist. Ford Prefect had already proven himself as a dueler in and out of the rings before he attained his Baron title, and then hit some hard times. What I admired about Baron Ford Prefect is that he was man enough to admit he needed help and to seek it with an open mind, regardless of the judgements people had of who he then involved himself with.
In regards to Avery Shiv Blade,
I found my post somewhat supportive except for the length time to get to know the young Warlord. In my opinion if you wish to be a leader of the community of duelers you should have a descent idea of what the community is like. As I have stated I found Avery to be one of the best of the current era of young Warlords. I would have just been more approving if he had maybe waited aleast a full cycle as a Warlord or so before challenging to get a
better feel of the potential responsiblities of being a leader in this Swords community. Too often I have seen rising stars get Warlord, hunt for peer wins right away, and then immediatetly challenge, only to end up a flash in the pan for 15 minutes of fame and then drop off in the duldrums. Again these are my only opinions, and I am nobody but a Warlord who enjoys this place but I feel it could be better like it was once was. I am just an old dog

HELLO! has anyone ever thought that maybe you guys should get over it. After reading Vars posts it seems to me that it's what he's trying to do! So why does it matter to you who he challenges Baphe?
Or who he challenged? Or for that matter, why should you care how close he is to the line between the ranks. It shouldn't!
And Tom, why did ya have togo and post something up about this?!?!?!? So this is a meesage to both sides of the story at the risk of getting my words twisted around also. Folks! LET IT GO!!!! Don't talk about it, don't let out a that implies it! Just drop the whole damn subject!
