Personally, I tire of a man who calls himself honorable, yet commits the basest of slander in his challenge, and in the letters which he posts thereafter.
I too have changed... all life changes, for that is the way of the world. But not all change for the better...
How can you think yourself as one to be looked up to, when venom is so present in your words?
To agree, to disagree, to support, to disabuse... what you feel is not half so important as how you carry yourself.
Remember your station, and your honor, and your heart.

Well and good then, O Sartan the Belligerent Mouth of Dalamar.

Never looked up to me? Never was a friend. May your lies rot your tongue. I never claimed your success boy. I was proud to have been there and been a part of it. There is a short list of people that gained from my tuteledge in the past....and you child are not on it.

Jaycyncda, your doing a fairly good job, but you should try to be less obvious with the propaganda speeches. Its really rather thin wouldn't you say? How can you call me dishonorable because I voice an opinion? You don't call Dalamar so, nor Var, nor Kalamere nor many I can name. Your words are prejudiced woman. And that makes for very shaky ground to stand on.

I would like to state now for the record that I did not start this war of insults and hairpulling and yowling like fishwives that everyone has seemed to enjoy getting involved in. I replied to Kalameres post in a fairly friendly and honest fashion anvoiced my opinions within it. Well....in the words of a wise man I once met....EXCUUUUUUUUUUSE Me.

Opinion, is just that, opinion, find my opinions about the Overlord insulting? Thats fine...but its far from dishonorable to voice them. Try and keep this in mind people, the constant droning gets a little boring.

I challenged Baron Gimmzak Stonecutter to what I hope will be an honorable and well fought match. Lord Ar'Din, Lord Dalamar and the whelp Sartan have started this fight. You will notice...other than expression of opinion....theres not a lot of heat to these words, so please....do me a favor and stop polluting this kiosk with your mad ravings.

Baron Gimmzak, one hopes for your fairly swift return and that it finds you in good health. My apologies for this group of parchment, but seems I can no more than breath without all the banshees screeching. I am sorry to have allowed your first challenge to be marred by words of hatred from these people. Please know it was not my intent.

Var.....I can conceed your points, they are, unfortunatly the only fair and meaningful ones, other than Lord Ar'Dins made to date. My thanks for your temperance.

~I am,
~Adonai Uziel
~DragonLord of RhyDin
~Warlord and Once Baron of the Duels

PS: Do me the honor of letting me challenge without all this please? I stay out of yours...you stay out of mine. Fair enough.

Adonai,

Congratulations on your reading abilities. I never once stated you had never been a friend, just that you were never someone I looked up to, which is true.

On a final note, I'd suggest that after you are defeated in this challenge, you come look this whelp up next cycle. I'm always one to enjoy a beating.

~S

P.S. This is my last post on this matter, as I feel the mudslinging I've taken part in has gone far enough.

Adonai--

Propaganda? Tell me, what cause would I be furthering? I'd love to hear this one, as you don't even know what cause I'm behind, now do you? Am I not allowed to state my opinion? I think yer not a worthy man to hold title in the Duel of Swords, and I have reasons for that. Am I not allowed to express that opinion without being accused to propagandizing? Really, Adonai, maybe you should think about yer choice of words as related to the situation.

As for calling you dishonorable for voicing an opinion... no. I am calling you dishonorable for yer actions, Adonai. For threatening to destroy the life of someone I care about, and then not a month later, on a whim, completely reversing your feelings. You threatened to destroy someone, Adonai, because you believed he was a threat to Dalamar, and would try to dethrone him, and you... that there was a grand conspiracy. Remember that night,
Adonai? Remember what you said? And yet, not long after, you yourself sought to remove the Overlord. *That* is what I call dishonorable. What honor is there in insulting an innocent woman, Adonai? In calling her an "amusement"... a toy, a plaything? Whatever had I done to you, Adonai? Whatever could I have done to deserve that? Simply because I stood with who you threatened? Surely you didn't think I was a threat to your precious "honor". I
was in no place to do anything Adonai, and it wasn't my place. And yet you felt the need to insult me. *That* is dishonorable.

I do not question a man's honor by his opinions, Adonai, but by his actions. Those actions, that I have witnessed... not heard of, but witnessed, are what brings me to call you dishonorable. *That* is what separates you from Kal, Dal, or Var.

Everyone:

I've mentioned something once before on this thread, simply to objectively correct another with a bit of fact, and left it at that. To what must have been the surprise of the universe, two people, being myself and the other, reasonably discussed a matter of dueling history with an absolute lack of bickering, and that done, with the discourse convienently there for public interest, we moved on from the point.
This should prove that bitter, pointless "fighting" words serve no functional, productive purpose on these boards.
Guys, why not leave the matter of the boards to discuss matters of policy, history and the customary announcment of dueling history in the making, not to mention leaving the boards to be a place for the dueling community to share announcements of joy and sorrow?
The fact that the image of what the boards are worth has fallen so far, that Evan and Rix chose not to waste their time with the customary posts concerning their challenge here should be a glaring point to dueling society.
So, c'mon guys, let's clean it up.

A reformed bickerer himself...
General Perrinis Alabaster.

The amazing thing here is I do not remember this incident at all.

I can assure you that I have never to my knowledge threatened the lives of anyone over a loyalty to Dalamar. Aye I once defended him....but the taking of a life goes beyond the defense of a friend. A taking of a life is a serious matter.

You Jaycynda I remember in your inception to this sport, and remember an early friendship with you where you would routinely confound me with your off the cuff style. This episode you describe I do not recall at all. The nearest of them to it is myself and my concubine at one time trying to seduce you in all fun. But other than that....I am relatively unaware of what you speak.

If such event did occur...I am fairly sorry for it. As I cannot comprehend myself doing such, but of course I won't defend any rightness of it.

Though...now that I think about it, if it is Iain you refer to....please try and understand that Lord MacKenzie and I have fielded an adversarial debate for well nigh on two years now and it has nothing to do with a dislike for the man, we have both at times sworn to strike each other down where we stand because of heated debates. I hold no ill will to the man because of his opposition in thought, and nor do I think he holds me in any high ill
regard. So if that is your perception....my apologies for causing you any distress. It is often better to ask than assume lass....and you...like anyone have but to ask...and I will attempt to answer you in the most honest fashion possible.

So please Jaycynda....do me the favor of trying to let me understand you before you declare me of no honor and without feeling. I am fallable....I am not, nor will I ever be perfect....but please don't judge me before you at least attempt to know the truth of me.

My apologies,
~Adonai Uziel

"Either I am naive, or you are trying to add more fuel to a fire here, Adonai. Where and when did Dalamar say he was going to test him? How did Dalamar manipulate Avery? I am saying this as mildly as possible, because I don't want to return to slapping notes up back and forth in retorted attacks. However, you claimed loyalty to the overlord and that you'd protect his crown. Stating loyalty towards the crown, in
my opinion, means you lay
your sword down to protect it."

Var, to answer this bluntly, you are right on both counts. Adonai is trying to add more fuel to the fire. And you are naive. While I cannot guarantee that Avery will still challenge for Overlord or not, nor that he would be Tested if he did, I think it is very little secret why Sartan challenged Avery. Two Renegade Barons had made their intentions to challenge Dalamar, Avery and Evan. Both Barons are challenged the same week? Then, just for fun,
one of the challengers makes a post accusing a group opposed to the crown of a conspiracy?
Interesting coincedences we have in RhyDin, eh? Two Barons known to be planning to challenge Dalamar are themselves challenged. One wins, one loses. One less challenge to the Overlord in the near future, eh? And, whether Dal actually does so or not, if Avery does challenge when he is able, Dal will not be violating his own policies if he does Test him. Abosolutely fascinating.
At the same time, Adonai really doesn't care what tactics Dal uses. He will use whatever tactics he sees fit to gain his ends. And those ends? Well, from what I was able to gather they are simple. More than unseating a tyrant or freeing the Arena from manipulation, Adonai wants to be Overlord. Dal has played dirty to stay Overlord. Adonai is now playing dirty to become Overlord.
Frankly, I would tend to say that they were both in the wrong. I would also guarantee that neither will admit it. It really doesn't matter. Dal's actions are a matter of public record, for us to all draw our own conclusions. Adonai's actions are transparent to anyone who cares to look.

My friends,

What I see here, quite simply, is one of the very oldest tricks of dirty politics. The smear campaign is being very effectively wielded by both sides. Adonai accuses Dalamar of actions which are factual in the details but the motives for which I am sure we all disagree with each other on almost completely. Dalamar, on the other hand, accuses Adonai of the same. Actions which are factual in details, but where there is widely differing opinion
regarding motives.
Meanwhile, Adonai and Sartan exchange chilidish insults. Var questions an action easily witnessed by all. Of all the people posting in this line before I first put pen to paper, only Kalamere and Jaycy were at all phrasing their posts both carefully and logically. And only Kalamere refrained from any sort of personal slander.
I commend everyone but Kal and Jay on their command of the smear campaign. If I did not know many of the facts from simply reading about some of them and witnessing others, I would believe all the bad things they were saying and none of the good.
However, I know Dalamar to be a man of honour. That I disagree with many of his actions and policies is well known. That I consider him to have compromised himself on occasion, by letting expediency rule his conscience is also well known. But he is a good and honourable man.
The simple fact is this: Adonai wants to become Overlord. Dalamar, if he does not exactly wish to remain Overlord, does not wish to see the throne fall into what he believes the "wrong hands." Each is willing to do just about anything to succeed in their goals. Neither is really thinking clearly on the subject of the the other. Both are angry.
Quite frankly, with the exception of the posts by Kalamere and Jaycy, this whole thread is a disgrace to the Duel of Swords, the Arena, and the titles of Baron and Overlord. Adonai's original challenge was made fairly honourably, if somewhat aggressively. Kalamere raised some logical questions regarding content. And then everyone else went out of control.
I am ashamed for you all. Not OF you, but FOR you. You are all far better than the faces you are showing the community here.

Percival,
While I was hoping to not post to this subject anymore, I wanted to state your convictions were, in my opinion, harsh.
Rix challenging Evan, Sartan challenging Avery, is the discussion, if I'm not mistaken. Sartan, understandably, seeks to look out for Dal and help him (Sartan, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). When Daegarth was baron last year, he opted for renegade and he was one who interceded against Dal's champions (as I read in histories, if I am misled, please feel free to correct me Daegarth). Upon first obtaining the ring, he faced four or five
challenges; one from me. Many had the desire to bring the ring to loyal.
Dal did not tell me to challenge Dae. I challenged him on my own. Whether or not the barons were challenged because the challengers wanted to have the ring loyal, or to protect Dalamar, isn't the argument. As you did not like the house being accused of conspiracy, you weave one up on your own, stating that it's not just coincidence.
Make note, if you want people to understand your reasons for challenging, please make an effort to understand theirs.

Simply,

Adonai,

My words will likely be lost upon this board, as other missives seem to be appearing by the moment. A last note on the challenge between you and I, that I feel relevant, is that at no time was I bitter as to the Overlords intercession. My issue, rather, was with your statement before the match that you would meet me with your own blade. The Overlord's actions were foreseeable and well justified, I cannot say the same for the lies of a Baron.

Since then you've demonstrated dishonor and dishonesty in a number of ways. In my home land you would no longer be known as Adonai Uziel, rather Adonai Oathbreaker would be your mark. Your challenge as written, a blatant attempt to goad the baron into calling off the Test of Worthiness, and in your own over-inflated sense of self-worth, you believe you deserve as much. Cast your aspersions of misdeeds and power mongering as you will, but you, Sir,
do not deserve an uncontested challenge.

Lastly, before you seek to discredit me through claims of propaganda, beg to recall that this is no new opinion I hold. I had labeled you Oathbreaker for all of DoS to judge, long before Loyalty to the Overlord was even a consideration for me. Spare us the journey through such an ill-placed argument.

Percival,

You forgot to mention yourself when writing your little "I'm so ashamed of you all" post. Why do you feel the need to be so condescending to everyone? When will you figure it out that a lot of us don't really care for the attitude? You aren't any better than any other person who posts on this board when you continually talk down to everyone.

Clearly, you are an intelligent man with a large vocabulary. Perhaps you should refrain from using that as a club. Having opinions is fine. Writing essays on your perceptions is also fine, but use some restraint when talking about how proud, or how ashamed, or how disappointed you are in members of the community. Those are terms used when describing our reactions to what our children or our students do, not our peers.

Okay, I know you're all dying to hear my two cents, so here it is.

You're all a bunch of lying, childish, propagandist fools. Never in my life have I seen so many people who couldn't say what they mean and mean what they say. You people may not like me, but guess what, atleast I put it all on the table when I have something to say. Not one of you is fit to hold any these stupid ranks you all hold so dear.
Oh, and I think Adonai and the Old Fart need to be stuffed into their play pen together and whine and complain until one needs to run home to mommy. Then we can declare the other the better whiney twit and move on with our lives.
Have a nice day.

"By the way, Excellent manipulation of Avery old man, you have now relieved yourself of breaking your word and you can now test him. One will notate that I will not be so easy to fool."

Wow, I've seen some pretty paranoid words but this ranks right up there with "the government is leaking radon gas through my air conditioner." I know a man who once sat out on his porch with a gun on his lap muttering about how the commies weren't going to find him easy to fool, all right. Too bad this was the 80's (no threat of commies sneaking up on you, you know) and he was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic.

Stir the wasps' nests too many times, you're gonna get stung, so don't wine and cry when the Overlord finally speaks up after post after post of your raving lunatic paranoias.

At the very least, own up to what you say and take responsibility for how others might interpret your heavily charged words.
