Bah. Most of us are jerks, and I've been around for years.

Incidentally, I wonder if it occorred to any other jerks, or just this jerk, that Newer duelists might get the idea that we're jerks because..on the boards, we sure act like it allot?

I've met most of the crusty old timers myself in person. I can attest that a very overwhelming majority of them are the very soul of honor.

Perhaps we should show it more?

Tis Karen Jansen didst admit to it also. Tis seeming the comments by Madame Silvertree who seems to be speaking for Ms. Jansen ast well ast those made initially by Eros Hunrai Marzanhe DeBurgo hae "changed" a wee bit from their original comments. Interesting, neh?

The matter has been closed, and not by myself.

I cannot travel to the past to know what another has spoken, nor do I know anyone that can.
I am still seeking the whereabouts of Miss Wilder, information on this would be much appriciated.
Ms. Jansen has been informed that, whether she did indeed break any rules or not, that she is required to be more cautious of such matters in the future.
Now that my daughter's health is showing definite signs of improvement, I expect to return to my duties as a member of the Duel of Swords staff upon the beginning of the next cycle.

This is sad really...This board brings out the worst in people, that's for sure...And that's also why I never read it, cause when it comes down to it, we're all just a bunch of babies...Always whining, always fighting, when it comes to this evil chunk of cork. For example...there's people who constantly criticize people, and the people who fight back...as the MAJORITY of what's on the board...Then there's simple little things such as
challenges. And let us not forget the people who try to stop it, such as me...Did I ask for attention? No. All I'm trying to do is straighten things out...and the chances of that are slim to none at this rate...Oh well.

Dear Sirs and Ma'ams:

I humbly ask that these words which I speak will not be taken in any offencive way, and that should they offend you, I ask that you accept my appoligies. I do not make this post to sound intelegent, or to degrade anyone, or even to support anyone. I make this post to the betterment of this noble institution, this duel of swords. I also wish to apoligize for any spelling and grammatical mistakes in my aurguments, they are, of course,
unintentional. I am from out of town you see...

I agree partially with what the Lady Silvertear has said. But I wish to make some slight changes in how I view her comments. Lady Silvertear used the word respect. She said respect should be given to everyone who deserves it. Well, I have two things to say.

The first is that everyone here, regardless of how you think of them, and how they act, and however rude, obnoxious, and annoying they are, deserves respect. They are sentinent beings, and have emotions and feelings as do the rest of you. You do not have to respect thier actions, or thier ideals, but you must, for the sake of human* dignity, respect them as a person*.

Secondly, even if you refuse to respect them for being a person, show them common curtisy. Especially if you do not know them. Both Lord Eros and Lord Coran have shown me the utmost curtesy, and they are the only people I have met in person thus far in my stay here. I was polite to them, and they to me in return. Most of us in this arena are adults. And I humbly ask that you remember that in your dealings with people.

On a side note, I wish to publicly thank both Lord Eros and Lord Coran for the help they have given me, and the respect they have shown to someone they did not even know.
I also wish to make a suggestion to others that are new here, for this seems to be the only way for us to get any respect. Because of the fact that we are new, and do not know much about these fine, noble, traditions we will be treated with disrespect by many. I ask that you attempt to learn what you can, and that you give everyone you meet, regardless of thier worthyness, the utmost respect and curtesy. We will all get along much better with the
older members of this community if we do this.

And to Jona:
My lady, you have shown yourself to be a lady of strong opinions, and I respect that. I also respect the fact that you show no fear in stating these opinions. And I also respect that you don't seem to care if people like you or not. But I must ask you to concider that you hurt others with your constant insults. While you may not care if people like you or not, these are people you are talking to. And regardless of wether they deserve it or
not, many of the other patrons do not wish to hear you degrade them. It causes fights, and ill feelings that only serve to make a severance in this noble community. For the sake of the community, keep the length and severity of your reprimands to a minimum, and use curtesy when making them. I thank you for your time, and I humbly ask that you concider what I have said.

And to the Patrons of the Duel of Swords:
I look forward to many nights of dueling, laughing, and talking with all of you. I have found through Lord Eros that this place stands for a noble purpose, one that I am proud to have the priviledge to participate in. Thank you, and good dueling to all of you.

Tis I am secure enough in mine convictions to nae hae anna need to concern mineself with being liked or disliked. No, not interesting at all really. Most likely a misunderstanding. Nothing to get riled about, since it happens all the time. Since I wasn't there to hear what Lady Wilder actually said, I'm not inclined to believe anyone more than anyone else.

And anyway, on a neutral note, it would seem that the case is closed, as they say.

Er...m'lady Jonalyn, that's Silvertear. Silvertree is Lady Drake's last name.

This RhyDin is an odd place. In my home, when you apologize and try to correct mistakes you've made, it's considered a sign of someone mature enough to recognize that they're not perfect. Here, it seems, it's seen as a weakness, as "backpeddalling". If it is the custom here not to make mistakes, and when you do, not to admit or correct them, perhaps I can see what I can do to accomodate the local populace.

I am curious, my lady, why do you wish to continue to treat me with such disrespect even after I had admitted to making a mistake? I ask this with all goodwill, I assure you. Did I do something wrong in attempting to set the situation aright? I am young in my elven years, being the approximate equivalent age to a human of 18 years, and am always willing to learn the ways and workings of those around me.

As I'm sure many people in this community ignored the rest of my post after my mistake of saying "the majority of the people.." I felt I should post a tidbit from the end of my original post, that wasn't intended to insult anyone, and in fact I try to work on this aspect myself.

"Arguments are inevitable, people will disagree from time to time. Just remember that there is a person with feelings on the recieving end of your words. It is not necessary to attempt to destroy the person on the other end. This isn't a battle. There is no winning and losing side in a community such as this. Either we all win...or we all lose."

I certainly hope we eventually all win.
