While I do nae know Damien at all, I would applaud Cletus' efforts to make the challenge go through. In my own opinion, a Baron should defend his own title without the help of intercession, regardless of the challlenger.

>Damien did not actually earn the right to challenge, as he used a peer win
>that was a forfiet

G,

First, let me say, I do not agree with the forfiet being used either. I also do not think a challenge was earned, but, he did earn it or it wouldn't be in the rules that a forfiet can be used. I guess I only bring this up because the rules permit it, though I also don't think they should be counted unless the dueler is up.

It's nice to see that you're in agreement with me on this issue. It's unfortunate that this challenge was permitted due to the rules stating that all needed is 10 Peer Wins. Personally, I believe the rules should be amended to allowing only 10 actual Peer Wins, no forfiets whatsoever allowed.

Yes, DoS is only a game. However, people make it much more of it by doing things such as putting their life on the line or whinning over rules. Let me ask this. When you are taking your oppenets last breath(killing them) in the Arena or elsewhere, is that what DoS was really ment for? And for those whom I have insulted, I will take all responsibly of my words and stand by what I said. A sport is a game unless DoS's society has changed the
definition of sport as well.

I can reference you to several guilds, Evan. You'd fit in nicely there, I think.

G,

I don't agree with this, however. If a dueler is up 4.5 to 0, and his/her opponent decides to leave, is it really fair to say that isn't a peer, if two peers were dueling? Chances are the dueler with 0 wouldn't come back and win it...though it has been done.

Granted. And perfectly understandable, to be honest. And I also know of times where people, myself included, have come back from an impossible deficit and take the victory. These things happen.

However, it's not an actual win. You haven't won until you've scored those 5 points, or passed 15 rounds with the lead. It's somewhat entertaining that I found out that even if you have a 4.5-0 lead in Magic and Fists, if you go to 15 rounds, it is a Tie. I think that could be appropriate here, as well.

I know noone else will share what I desire to see, and I don't blame then, since I can see it from that side too. I simply don't like to see any kinds of forfiets on a challenge used as a peer win.

I would like to echo G'nort's sentiments about forfeitures. I do not believe that it is honorable to take a *win* when you have not won, especially - most especially - in the case of peer wins. If the other duelist does not complete the duel, my feeling is that it should be ruled a tie, even if you are ahead by a wide margin.

Respectfully submitted,

Interesting...

You disagree with the use of a forfieture as a peer win, yet did nothing to convince the man to wait.
The Overlord clearly stated that his reason for Intersession was not to defend the Loyal Baron, but to give the Warlord the opportunity to earn his tenth win... yet you feel this was wrong of him to do.

The vainglorious man refused to duel again after gaining his tenth peer win, for fear of loosing his precarious hold upon the rank of Warlord... and, upon being questioned as to his stance, his initial response was, and I quote, "le' wha's his name decide fer me." Yet you offer no censure for a man who does not know the name of the Overlord... when you
castigated Long Wang Lo for just that.

Sir Eques, your hypocracy stands revealed, just as your brother's was that very night.

What hypocracy might that be? The fact that I don't trust you as far as I can throw you? The fact that I'll defend those who have defended me in the past?

>yet did nothing to convince the man to wait

Unless you've listened in on everyone of Magnus's conversations with Damien I don't think you have the grounds to say this. Just because he didn't jump on the attack Damien bandwagon on the boards doesn't mean he didn't talk to him in private about the issue. Refrain from making remarks you know nothing about.

I have to agree with G' except for one thing. If you are ahead 4-0 after 12 rounds then the peer win should be allowed.

I thank you for your vote of agreement, and almost do agree with you as well, but unless you have to required 5 points, you've still not actually won a match. It's an interesting point of debate. :)

So what's your opinion on a match that is 4-3 after 15 rounds, G? Still going by the rules, that is a win.
