Funny, I know of many priests in all sorts of churches, Catholic especially, that took up arms and fought.

Of course, no greater sins were committed than those for religion.

After all, noone expects the Spanish Inquisition, eh?

G, the difference between the people who fought wars over religion compared to Miss Wilder is, if I'm not mistaken, Miss Wilder isn't holding the ring in the name of God.
Does she truly believe God commanded her to obtain the fourth title? Did God command her to show such vanity by taunting one of the finest Warlords ever to grace the Arena?
If this is the God I'm thinking we're referring to, it's time to change religions. Seriously, God must be so embarassed, he's probably having cloudy days to hide his face.
Then again, Miss Wilder wouldn't be the only phony servant of God.
Seriously, Seamus. Win. Please.

The hypocrisy of Ms. Wilder is by no means rare in the Christian Church that has sprung up over the graves of my lost loved ones.

FInd an history book concerning Earth, people, and read up on the Catholic Church..
The organization was geared towards hypocrisy, and seeking material gain under the guise of a religious crusade.

Ms. Wilder is a very accurate representative of the Roman Catholic Church, actually.

And you, Cas, are a very accurate representative of what made the very capable Roman Republic become a messy Empire -- interbreeding and arrogance.

Father Francis:

The Lady Wilder was a duelist here long before she came to the sheltering arms of the Knights Templar and the Catholic Church. In the time that I have known her, she has taught me much about the Duel of Swords.

It is a matter of Honor that she holds the Fourth Ring and will only give it up by dint of challenge in the traditional manner held here in the Duels. As she is a Knight of the Church, our superiors find this course of action quite acceptable.

The Order of the Knights Templar has long been the strong arm of defence for the Catholic Church, and the skill at arms shown by Lady Wilder reflects well upon the Order in general.

Master Medici-Giovanni:

The Lady Wilder holds the Fourth Ring by dint of skill in a Tournament of Warlords. She has retained the Fourth Ring by dint of skill in two challenges. Her time in the Duel of Swords is her own and not commanded by God or by the Order.

As for her perceived taunting of the Warlord MacDonnaugh, I only see her answering a challenge from him by one of her own.

Baron Maximius:

As a scribe and historian for the Order of the Knights Templar, I find your blanket accusations of the Church to be the words of one who is uneducated in the true history of the Church and it's many Orders.
The Precept of our Order truely regrets the actions ordered in the past by the Pope, and our Order's refusal to follow many of those less-holy orders nearly led to our extinction. If you would wish to learn more of the history of our Order, I can suggest certain texts for your edification.

Ouch.

Ah'yes... Seamus has a good point. Of course, when I myself begin to appear in the arena regularly, I will begin to cast stones at his side. But not before. It does appear though... that the Barons do not to be poked at and stirred up. And thats fine. Let sleeping Baron's lie and let their bruises fade. The young duelists abound and grow stronger each week that passes.
It is the Duel of Sword's proverbial Circle of Life. This is an observation of experience. I enjoyed what was probably the most comfortable year long reign as 9th Baron. I Nestled cozily beneath the guardian wing of Overlord Dalamar. Once that wing lifted, it was not overly long before the ring found a worthier finger to rest on. I am gifted at rationalizing you see... "Oh.. my RDI duties keep me from practicing as I should." Feh.. Use it
or lose it Barons, mark my words.
Whoops, was that a stone? :::grins elvishly:: I'm sorry, I'd better try and make it into the arena soon, hm?
:::group hug::
